The Granada Theatre offers a magnificent illustration of the old atmospheric style of cinema with its
somewhat garish rooms that date back to the rollicking 20s. The moment visitors arrive in the building,
they walk through front hallways that are painted to look like stone, with niches that contain urns and
plaster busts. In the purest form of the atmospheric tradition, the wall decorations of this performance
hall depict an inside Spanish courtyard. Built in 1928, the Granada Theatre presented the newsreel
highlights of the day as they came in from around the world. Part of a network of some 400 similar
theatres built across North America, the Granada is the only such facility in Canada to have kept its
architectural integrity. In 1997 the city of Sherbrooke acquired this charming facility.

As you visit one of the most picturesque campuses in Canada, situated at the confluence of the Massawippi and St. Francis rivers, you
will be enchanted by the panoramic views, the wooded areas, the rest areas, the walking paths and the 75-km cycle trail that crosses
the campus and which is linked to the major Grandes-Fourches cycle trail. To round out this impressive tour, a visit to St. Mark’s Chapel
is a must. This regal facility has been designated a historic monument and recognized for its heritage and artistic value. A guided tour
can be given complete with a brief organ recital. The campus also boasts Centennial Theatre, Bandeen Hall and the Foreman Art
Gallery.
Centennial Theatre
Inaugurated on January 14, 1967 on the Bishop’s University campus, Centennial Theatre was designed and built to provide an intimate
visual atmosphere with excellent acoustics. This superb theatre environment recalls the days of the Greek amphitheatres. It seats 610
while still making its audience feel close to the stage. The latter is Italian in design, with proscenium and arch moved by an elevator. The
diverse configurations made possible by this system provide for a surprisingly flexible stage use.

Over the course of its 50-odd years of history, the Université de Sherbrooke has earned a solid reputation
for itself and is now considered to be one of Canada’s best universities.
The amphitheatre of Salle Maurice-O’Bready is the fourth largest in Quebec, with 1726 seats. It has a
high fidelity FM stereophonic sound system that enables its audiences to receive the maximum of sound
while benefiting from perfect listening conditions, totally exempt from ambient noise.
The cultural centre houses two well equipped corporate rooms for hosting small groups. These facilities
can be used as general headquarters, work rooms or simply meeting places for your guests. There are
also four spacious foyers which can be used for a variety of purposes: press conferences, book
launchings, gala evenings, fairs, buffet or opening a convention. These four lateral venues offer an
exceptional meeting framework. Each has toilet facilities, bars and cloakrooms. Both the two at the
parterre (ground) level and the two at the balcony level can accommodate large groups for a cocktail
reception, a banquet or a dinner and show.
