Una montagna in granito grigio e rosa alta più di mille metri, una dorsale montuosa che attraversa tutta la zona occidentale, ovunque alte
scogliere che si specchiano in un mare spettacolare: l'isola d'Elba è davvero un paradiso per tutti coloro che amano l'arrampicata libera, il confronto con la natura e con se stessi. Sull'isola, infatti, non sono pochi i
luoghi che si possono raggiungere solo attraverso percorsi per free climber, con passaggi di diversa difficoltà e con alcune vie ferrate, per provare il piacere della sfida e della conquista nel rispetto della natura e
lontano dal turismo di massa. Tra le varie possibilità segnaliamo le vie
di roccia nei territori di Chiessi, Pomonte e Marciana. In particolare, sul
versante nord del San Bartolomeo vi è una via ferrata che permette di
salire agevolmente sulla cima.

A pink and gray granite mountain over 1,000 meters high, a mountain
ridge that crosses the entire western part of the island, and all around,
high rocks are reflected in a mirror sea: the Island of Elba is truly a paradise for those who love free climbing, challenging themselves and
nature. The island has no lack of places that can only be reached via
free climber itineraries of varying difficulty and some vie ferrate, or
“iron paths” as they are also known to enjoy the thrill and pleasure of
conquest, far from hordes of tourists. Among the several itineraries we
can mention the rock paths in the areas of Chiessi, Pomonte and
Marciana, and on the northern slope of San Bartolomeo there is a via
ferrata that makes it easy to reach the top.

Ein über tausend Meter hoher Berg aus grauem und rosafarbenem
Granit, ein Bergrücken, der das ganze westliche Gebiet durchquert,
überall Steilfelsen, die sich in einem spektakulären Meer spiegeln die Insel Elba ist ein wahres Paradies für Bergsteiger, die es
mit der Natur und mit sich selbst aufnehmen wollen. Hier auf der Insel gibt es nicht wenige Orte,
die man nur über Aufstiege für Freeclimber
erreichen kann, mit Passagen von unterschiedlichem Schwierigkeitsgrad, die zum Teil nur
mit Haken zu bewältigen sind und eine
echte Herausforderung darstellen, das
Gefühl, sich etwas erobert zu haben,
ganz im Einklang mit der Natur und
weitab vom Massentourismus. Unter
den verschiedenen Möglichkeiten zeigen wir Felspfade in den Gebieten von
Chiessi, Pomonte und Marciana auf.
Insbesondere am Nordhang des San
Bartolomeo gibt es einen mit Haken versehenen Aufstieg, über den man den Gipfel mühelos erreichen kann.

haut, une chaîne montagneuse qui traverse toute la partie ouest de l'île;
partout, de la roche plongeant dans une mer spectaculaire : l'île d'Elbe
est un véritable paradis pour tous ceux qui aiment pratiquer l'escalade
libre, se mesurer à la nature, à eux-mêmes. Il existe, en effet, de nombreux endroits magnifiques sur l'île que l'on ne peut atteindre qu'à travers des parcours de free-climbing incluant des passages plus ou moins
difficiles et quelques « vie ferrate » : un appel irrésistible lorsqu'on veut
relever des défis et ressentir l'ivresse de la conquête, au contact direct de
la nature et à l'écart du tourisme de masse. Parmi ces parcours, signalons
le « vie di roccia » que l'on trouve à Chiessi, Pomonte et Marciana. En
particulier, sur le versant nord du San Bartolomeo, il existe une « via ferrata » assez facile qui permet de monter jusqu'au sommet.

L'emozione del volo silenzioso dei falchi e dei gabbiani è una delle
esperienze più interessanti dell'isola d'Elba. Molti i punti di partenza
ideali per discese e ascensioni in parapendio, in particolare, straordinariamente adatte sono diverse località sulla sagoma regolare e possente
del Monte Capanne, un trampolino perfetto per questo sport, con correnti ascensionali che possono portare fino a 2000, 2500 metri d'altezza per 3 o 4 ore di volo, e ideale anche in assenza di vento per la planata libera dalle zone di bosco e macchia mediterranea fino alle spiagge sabbiose; un altro buon punto di lancio, verso sud e verso nord, è
anche la cima del Monte Perone. Sulla dorsale orientale dell'isola, si
può partire dalla vetta del Volterraio, sfruttando in dinamica le impegnative correnti sopra le magnifiche valli, o anche planando. Più facili e
da cime più basse, ma anch'esse aperte su panorami suggestivi, sono
le discese nelle zone dell'Elba centrale, da Monte Orello o da Norsi,
verso le magnifiche insenature
delle coste meridionali e
l'avvolgente baia
di Portoferraio.

The thrill of silent flight, like a falcon or seagull is one of the most interesting experiences the Island of Elba has to offer. There are many starting points that are ideal for paragliding. Various spots along the even,
mighty slopes of Monte Capanne are perfect trampoline for this sport
with ascending currents that can carry you to altitudes of 2000 to 2500
meters for 3 or 4 hours; it is also perfect for planning, when there is no
wind, from the forests, Mediterranean maquis to the sandy beaches.
Another good starting point, for going south or north is the top of
Monte Perone. On the eastern side of the island you can take off from
the peak of Volterraio using the dynamics of the currents above the
magnificent valleys, or planing. Easier, starting from lower peaks, but
still offering magnificent vistas are the descents in Central Elba, from
Monte Orello or Norsi towards the magnificent coves on the southern
coast and the embracing bay of Portoferraio.

Das Gefühl, wie ein Falke oder eine Möwe geräuschlos durch die Luft zu
segeln, ist eine der interessantesten Erfahrungen, die man auf der Insel
Elba machen kann. Es gibt zahlreiche ideale Startplätze für den Abflug
und das Aufsteigen mit Gleitschirmen. Ganz besonders geeignet sind
verschiedene Stellen auf dem flachen Sattel des gewaltigen Monte
Capanne, ein perfektes Trampolin für diesen Sport, mit
Aufwindströmungen, die den Drachenflieger bis zu 2000 - 2500 Meter
bringen und 3 oder 4 Stunden Flug ermöglichen, ideal auch bei
Windstille für den Gleitflug von den Waldgebieten und der mediterranen
Macchia bis zu den Sandstränden an der Küste. Eine weitere gute
Abflugstelle in südlicher und nördlicher Richtung ist der Gipfel des
Monte Perone. Auf der Ostseite der Insel kann man auf der Spitze des
Volterraio abfliegen, indem man im dynamischen Flug die gewichtigen
Strömungen über den herrlichen Tälern nutzt oder auch im Gleitflug
segelt. Einfacher und von niedrigeren Gipfeln aus, die aber auch malerische Panoramen bieten, sind die Abflüge in den zentralen Gebieten
von Elba, etwa vom Monte Orello oder Norsi aus, in Richtung Meer zu
den wunderschönen Buchten der Südküste und zur bezaubernden Bucht
von Portoferraio.

Quelle plus grande émotion que de planer comme un faucon ou un goéland? Une expérience magique qui, à l'Elbe, est inoubliable. Les amateurs de parapente disposent sur l'île de nombreux points de départ, de
sites de rêve pour d'innombrables décollages, vols et atterrissages; en
particulier, sur les versants du Mont Capanne, tremplin idéal avec son
relief régulier et puissant. Les courants ascensionnels permettent de
monter jusqu'à 2.000 - 2.500 mètres d'altitude et de faire des vols de

bois et maquis jusqu'aux merveilleuses plages de sable. Autre point

Volterraio et profiter des courants, plus difficiles, qui permettent de survoler des vallées magnifiques, en vol dynamique ou en planant. Plus
faciles, on peut aussi partir du milieu de l'île où les sommets sont plus
bas mais ouverts eux aussi sur des paysages superbes et évocateurs:
soit du Mont Orello, soit de Norsi, en direction de la splendide côte
découpée du sud de l'île et de la magnifique baie de Portoferraio.

Il percorso parte dalla chiesetta di Santa Lucia, eretta nel luogo della
distrutta fortezza di Luceri, che in epoca romana controllava il Golfo di
Portoferraio e che ancora domina con lo sguardo; si attraversa quindi una
zona di praterie e sugherete, percorrendo un territorio di antiche coltivazioni su terrazzamenti che la natura sta riconquistando. A Colle Reciso, si
sale verso il panoramico Poggio del Mulino a Vento, nella zona dove
cominciano i boschi di altura. Si può fare anche una deviazione per visitare la villa napoleonica di San Martino.

The route starts from the little church of Santa Lucia built on the site of the
former fortress of the Luceri, who controlled the Bay of Portoferraio in
Roman times, then it crosses an area of meadows and cork woods, an area
of once terraced farmland that nature is reclaiming. At Colle Reciso we go
up to the panoramic Poggio del Molino a Vento where the mountain
forests begin. We can also take a detour to visit Napoleon's villa at San
Martino.

Die Route beginnt an dem Kirchlein Santa Lucia. An dieser Stelle stand einst
die zerstörte Fortezza di Luceri, die in der Römerzeit den Golf von
Portoferraio kontrollierte und auch heute noch ein überragender
Aussichtspunkt ist. Man durchquert zunächst Wiesen und Korkeichenwälder
und wandert dann durch eine Gegend mit antikem Terrassenanbau, den die
Natur sich heute zunehmend zurückerobert. In Colle Reciso steigt der Weg
an bis hinauf zum Poggio del Mulino a Vento, wo der Höhenwald beginnt
und man ein herrliches Panorama genießt. Man kann auch einen Umweg
machen und die Napoleonvilla San Martino besichtigen.

Ce parcours part de la petite église Santa Lucia, bâtie à l'emplacement de
l'ancienne forteresse de Luceri qui, à l'époque des Romains, surveillait le
golfe de Portoferraio : un très beau point de vue. On traverse ensuite prairies et bois de chênes liège, une zone qui fut jadis cultivée en terrasses
mais sur laquelle la nature a repris ses droits. Arrivés à Colle Reciso, on
monte vers une colline panoramique, appelée Poggio del Mulino a Vento,
à la lisière des bois d'altitude. On peut également faire un détour pour visiter la villa de Napoléon à San Martino.

Un sentiero che si inserisce nella zona mineraria dell'isola, ormai quasi
dismessa, ma anche attraverso i boschi di macchia mediterranea che l'hanno riconquistata. Il percorso giunge presto sul monte Arco, una delle vette
più alte della zona dalla quale si ammira uno splendido paesaggio; dopo
aver attraversato la zona mineraria si arriva in prossimità di Ortano, dove,
in mezzo alle moderne strutture turistiche, è possibile leggere i segni dell'attività estrattiva. Più a nord, sulle scogliere ancora selvagge, nidifica il
falco pellegrino.

This path goes through the island's almost abandoned mining district as
well as the Mediterranean scrub that has reclaimed it. The path rapidly
reaches Monte Arco, one of the highest mountains in the area from which
we can admire a splendid landscape. After crossing the mining district we
reach the area of Ortano where, among modern tourist facilities, we can
see the marks left by the mining industry. Farther north peregrine falcons
build their nests on still untamed rocks.
Deu Der Pfad führt durch die mediterranen Macchia-Wälder, die das heute fast
völlig verlassene Bergwerkgebiet der Insel wieder überwuchern, und
erreicht bald darauf den Monte Arco, einen der höchsten Gipfel dieser
Gegend, von dem man eine herrliche Aussicht auf die Landschaft genießt.
Nachdem man die Bergwerkzone durchwandert hat, kommt man in die
Nähe von Ortano, wo man inmitten der modernen Ferienanlagen noch
Spuren des Eisenerztagebaus erkennen kann. Weiter nördlich, in den abgelegenen Felsregionen, nistet der Wanderfalke.

Ce sentier serpente à travers la zone minière de l'île, pratiquement abandonnée aujourd'hui, ainsi qu'au milieu d'étendues de maquis méditerranéen qui a envahi les lieux. On arrive assez vite sur le Mont Arco, l'un des
plus hauts de cette partie de l'île, d'où la vue est magnifique. Après avoir
traversé cette zone, on arrive à proximité d'Ortano où, parmi les infrastructures touristiques modernes, on peut encore trouver trace de l'ancienne activité minière de l'île. Plus au nord, vit le faucon pèlerin ; il fait
son nid sur la côte, dans les endroits les plus sauvages.

La Parata - Volterraio

Un percorso sul crinale della dorsale orientale, aperto con lo sguardo verso
il mare sia ad est che ad ovest. Si attraversano foreste di lecci e zone di
cespugli segnate dal profumato elicriso e dal cisto che sboccia in primavera; di tanto in tanto, potrete anche ammirare il caratteristico volo lento
dei falchi o quello sconnesso dei corvi imperiali. Il sentiero può essere
lasciato per deviazioni verso l'eremo di Santa Caterina, dove si trova un
interessante orto botanico, o per l’impervia vetta del Volterraio, dove si
erge l'inespugnato castello dallo stesso nome.

This path goes along the ridge on the eastern side, offering vistas of the sea
on the east and west. We cross holm oak forests and areas abounding with
fragrant helichrysum and rockrose that blossom in spring. Looking up, we can
see hovering falcons and ravens darting back and forth in the sky. We can
also leave the path to go visit the hermitage of Santa Caterina where there
is an interesting botanical garden, or the nearly inaccessible peak of the
Volterraio mountain and the unconquered castle of the same name.

Ein Wanderweg auf dem Kamm des östlichen Bergrückens, mit Blick zum
Meer sowohl in östlicher als auch in westlicher Richtung. Er durchquert
Steineichenwälder und Strauchwerkgegenden, wo es nach Strohblumen und
Zistrosen duftet, die im Frühling blühen. Ab und an kann man langsam in der
Luft kreisende Falken oder auch den abgehackten Flug der Kolkraben beobachten. Von diesem Weg zweigen Pfade ab zur Einsiedelei Santa Caterina, wo
sich ein interessanter botanischer Garten befindet, oder auf den unwegsamen
Gipfel des Volterraio, auf dem die gleichnamige, uneinnehmbare Burg aufragt.

Sur la crête de la chaîne orientale, la vue porte loin sur la mer, aussi bien
vers l'est qu'en direction de l'ouest. Le sentier traverse des bois de chênes
verts et des zones de végétation basse inondées du parfum des immortelles des rochers et des cistes qui fleurissent au printemps. De temps en
temps, vous pourrez observer des faucons au vol lent et superbe et des
grands corbeaux à l'allure plus saccadée. On peut quitter le sentier pour
prendre en direction de l'ermitage de Santa Caterina et de son jardin botanique intéressant, ou bien pour gravir le Volterraio tout en haut duquel se
dresse l'inexpugnable château du même nom.

San Piero - Monte Maolo

Il sentiero inizia nella gariga, una vegetazione di cespugli di cisti, elicriso e ginestre e si inoltra nelle pinete di quota, fino ad arrivare ai castagneti del monte Capanne. Soprattutto nelle zone aperte, più vicine al
mare, si possono frequentemente ascoltare i canti gracchianti dei coloratissimi gruccioni e quelli melodiosi dei piccoli cardellini. In queste zone,
abitate fin dalla preistoria, si possono vedere eretti anche antichissimi
menhir in granito. Dalla cima di monte Maolo, il paesaggio si apre fino
all'isola del Giglio.
Eng The path begins in the garrigue with its rockrose, helichrysum and broom,
and then it goes into the high pine forests to arrive at the chestnut groves
of Monte Capanne. In the open stretches, closer to the sea we can hear
the squawking of colorful bee-eaters and the songs of small goldfinches.
In these places, which have been inhabited since prehistoric times, we can
see ancient granite menhirs. The view from the top of Monte Maolo
stretches as far as the Island of Giglio.

Strohblumen und Ginster wachsen, und windet sich in die höher gelegenen

allem in den offeneren Zonen in Meeresnähe, kann man häufig das Krächzen
des bunten Bienenfressers und den melodischen Gesang des kleinen
Distelfinks hören. In diesem Gebiet, das schon in der Prähistorie besiedelt
war, trifft man auch auf uralte Menhire aus Granit. Von der Spitze des Monte
Maolo breitet sich die Landschaft mit Blick bis zur Insel Giglio aus.

On commence ce parcours dans la garrigue mêlant buissons, cistes, immortelles des rochers et genêts, puis on s'enfonce dans les bois d'altitude pour
monter jusqu'aux châtaigneraies du Mont Capanne. Dans les endroits
dégagés, proches de la mer, il n'est pas rare d'entendre les sifflements
roulés et rauques caractéristiques des guêpiers, oiseaux élégants aux vives
couleurs ou le chant mélodieux des chardonnerets. Cette partie de l'île, qui
fut habitée dès la préhistoire, conserve de beaux menhirs de granite encore dressés. Du haut du Mont Maolo, la vue se déploie jusqu'à l'île de Giglio.

Tutte le strade dell'isola d'Elba sono adatte al cicloturismo, per via dei
percorsi suggestivi, delle mete affascinanti, per la possibilità, quasi

Il percorso parte e ritorna a Capoliveri e si trova nella zona delle miniere di ferro, che conserva ancora diversi interessanti esempi di archeologia industriale. Il sentiero è ampio e ben tenuto e attraversa una vegetazione di macchia mediterranea che sta lentamente riconquistando il
territorio con ginestre e cisti ma anche acacie e mimose e più in alto
sugherete e pinete. Qui è possibile avvistare pernici e lepri ma, soprattutto, è l’habitat ideale per numerosi gabbiani reali che hanno dato il
nome ad un tratto della costa.

The trail begins and ends at Capoliveri, in the area of the iron mines that
still converse many interesting examples of industrial archeology. The path
is wide and well kept. It goes through the Mediterranean maquis that is
gradually reclaiming the land with its broom and rockrose as well as acacia, mimosa and, higher up there are cork and pine forests. Here we can
see partridge and hare, but above all, it is the ideal habitat for the countless herring gulls that have “given” their name to a section of the coast,
Golfo dei Gabbiani.

Eisenerzminen, die noch verschiedene interessante Beispiele von
Industriearchäologie bewahrt. Der Weg ist breit und gut ausgebaut und

nach ihr Territorium „zurückerobert“, mit Ginster und Zistrosensträuchern,
aber auch mit Akazien und Mimosen und, weiter oben, mit
Korkeichenwäldern und Pinienhainen. Hier kann man Rebhühner und Hasen
sichten, aber vor allem ist diese Gegend das ideale Habitat für zahlreiche
Silbermöwen, nach denen ein Abschnitt der Küste benannt ist.

zone des mines de fer où l'on peut voir plusieurs intéressants exemples d'archéologie industrielle. Il s'agit d'un sentier large et bien entretenu passant
au milieu d'une belle végétation méditerranéenne qui, petit à petit, tapisse
cette partie de l'île de genêts et de cistes mais également d'acacias et de
mimosas ; plus haut, le maquis cède la place aux bois de chênes liège et
aux pinèdes. Sur le parcours, on peut observer des perdrix et des lièvres
mais, surtout, de nombreux goélands argentés qui ont donné leur nom à une
portion de la côte (Costa dei Gabbiani); ils sont ici dans leur habitat idéal.

Un sentiero sulla dorsale centrale dell'isola, aperto allo sguardo sia verso
i paesaggi del nord che quelli del sud, che attraversa differenti tipologie di
vegetazione, dai roveti, fino alle ombrose pinete abitate da numerose specie di uccelli, come cinciallegre, cuculi e i cosiddetti "rampichini", ma anche
da molte interessanti farfalle. Il percorso, dopo un bosco di lecci, termina
sulla cima di Colle Reciso, dove si trova la Fonte di Schiumoli. Si possono
compiere diverse deviazioni verso le spiagge assolate del Golfo Stella o,
verso la rada di Portoferraio, ai resti della villa romana delle Grotte.

This path goes along the island's central ridge, offering vistas of landscapes
to the north and south. It traverses different types of vegetation, from briar
woods to the shady pine forests that are home to countless species of birds
such as the great titmouse, the cuckoo and the short-toed tree-creeper, and
may interesting butterflies. After crossing a holm oak forest the path ends at
the top of Colle Reciso where the Fonte di Schiumoli spring is located. There
are several options for detours to the sunny beaches of Golfo Stella or taking
the Portoferraio road, to the ruins of the Roman villa known as “Le Grotte”.

jeweils zu den sonnigen Stränden des Golfo Stella oder, in Richtung Reede
von Portoferraio, zu den Resten der römischen Villa Le Grotte.

mediterranea, a ridosso delle spiagge, presenta ampie estensioni di rovete di cisti,
rosmarini, ginestre, mirti, lavandule ed elicrisi; in particolare, nel Fosso dell’Inferno,
la vegetazione ha un grado maggiore di naturalità e vi si trova la linaria
dell’Arcipelago, un fiore che vive solo nelle isole di Toscana. Da non perdere in
primavera, la fioritura delle piante delle dune a Lacona, come il pancrazio o
giglio di mare, oppure quella di euforbia spinosa sulle scogliere di Capo Stella.

a vigneti.

This is a trail for real experts and offers stunning views of the islands of
Capraia and Corsica. From the evergreen forests near the sanctuary of the
Madonna del Monte and a natural spring, we proceed to the foot of Monte
Capanne, dominated by granite and mufflons and where amidst the selfheal and broom we can see the ruins of old Romanesque churches. Then,
after crossing holm oak and chestnut forests that are home to wild boar
and marten, we will arrive at Chiessi with its terraced vineyards.

livre des vues imprenables sur l'île de Capraia et vers la Corse. Il traverse
des bois de conifères, à proximité du sanctuaire de la Madonna del Monte
et d'une source, puis arrive sur le Mont Capanne dont les flancs de granite abritent de nombreux mouflons et où, au milieu des buissons de prunelliers et des genêts, on découvre des vestiges d'anciennes églises
romanes. Ensuite, on traverse des bois de chênes verts et de châtaigniers,
où vivent martres et sangliers, pour terminer à Chiessi, joli village où la
vigne se cultive en terrasses.

in modo da visitare tutta l'isola a cavallo, bivaccando ogni notte in un
posto diverso. In futuro, saranno realizzati nuovi punti di sosta e ristoro,
per valorizzare ulteriormente l'approccio naturale del turismo a cavallo.

There are excursions of varying length, from a few hours to entire days,

for new stopping places to further valorize the natural approach of
tourism on horseback.

Sport e benessere sono un connubio perfetto per i veri amanti del fitness. Sull'isola esistono due località termali, molto diverse fra loro: proprio sul mare, sulle strutture delle antiche saline, sorgono le Terme di
San Giovanni, con cinque ettari di fanghi marini ricchi di zolfo, di iodio
e di ferro, ideali nei trattamenti della pelle e di alcune osteopatie, ma
anche per l'apparato respiratorio e per la circolazione. In quota, invece,
fra le tranquille e fresche foreste attorno a Poggio, si trova la "Fonte di
Napoleone", dove sgorga un'acqua termale indicata per i problemi
all'apparato urinario e ai reni.

Sports and wellness are a perfect combination. The island has two quite
different spas. One is on the sea, the Terme di San Giovanni built over the
former salt-works, offering 5 hectares of marine mud rich in sulfur, iodine
and iron. These are ideal for treating disorders of the skin, respiration and
circulatory systems and some bone diseases. The other, Fonte di
Napoleone is located higher up, amidst the cool, quiet forests near Poggio:
the natural spring water is recommended for urinary and kidney problems.

Sport und Wohlbefinden gehören für echte Fitness-Begeisterte untrennbar zusammen. Auf der Insel gibt es zwei Kurbäder mit sehr unterschiedlichem Charakter. Direkt am Meer, auf den Anlagen der ehemaligen Salinen, liegen die Terme di San Giovanni mit fünf Hektar
Meeresschlamm, der viel Schwefel, Jod und Eisen enthält und ideal ist
für die Behandlung der Haut und einiger Knochenkrankheiten, aber auch
für den Atmungsapparat und für den Blutkreislauf. In Hügellage, umgeben von stillen, kühlen Wäldern rund um Poggio, befindet sich das
Kurbad „Fonte di Napoleone“ mit einem Thermalwasser, das für
Beschwerden des Harn- und Nierenapparats angezeigt ist.
Fra Sport et bien-être : voilà bien un mariage parfait pour les
vrais amateurs de fitness. Il existe sur l'île deux localités
thermales, très différentes l'une de l'autre. Les thermes
de San Giovanni se trouvent au
bord de la mer, dans les anciennes
salines. Elles disposent de cinq hectares de boues marines riches en
souffre, en iode et en fer : idéales
pour la peau et certaines maladies
des os et excellentes pour l'appareil

«Source de Napoléon» se trouve
quant à elle en altitude, au milieu
des bois frais et tranquilles qui
entourent Poggio. Il s'agit d'une
source thermale dont les eaux sont
indiquées en cas de troubles rénaux
