Awards, winners and honours
Tribute Award for Fine Crafts
This is awarded by Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec (CMAQ) to a Quebec artisan in recognition of his/her
outstanding career in crafts.
The Nominating Committee targets candidates who meet one or more of the following criteria:
The artisan's contribution to the advancement of crafts
The impact of artisan's career on the growth of the crafts field
The artisan's major creations
All Quebec artisans, CMAQ members and non-members, exhibitors and non-exhibitors at Quebec's Salons des
métiers d’art, are eligible for the Tribute Award for Fine Crafts. The recipient of the award is selected by the CMAQ
Board based on the Nominating Committee's recommendation. Winners benefit from an exhibition of their pieces
at Salon des métiers d’art de Montréal.

39th Jean-Marie-Gauvreau Award
The Jean-Marie-Gauvreau Award is given by Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec to an exhibitor (stand or loft) at
Salon des métiers d’art de Montréal, a professional member in good standing with CMAQ who has been an artisan
for 10 or more years.
The award criteria:
The originality, experimentation and innovation present in every product on display at the show
The quality of execution and production of every product on display at the show
The jury consists of five people: three professional artisans, members in good standing with CMAQ, who are not
exhibiting any products at the show and do not sit on the CMAQ Board of Directors, and two leading figures in
crafts.
The last five winners are not eligible for this award.
Winners of the Jean-Marie-Gauvreau Award receive $10,000 in prize money and a $500 discount on their stand or
loft exhibition space rental at the next Salon des métiers d’art de Montréal.

27th Jean-Cartier Award to Pay Tribute to Young Talent
The Jean-Cartier Award to Pay Tribute to Young Talent is awarded by the CMAQ to a stand or loft Salon des
métiers d’art de Montréal exhibitor, a professional member in good standing with CMAQ who has been an artisan
for less than five years.
The award criteria: The originality of the artisan's piece exhibited at the show.
The jury is composed of three professional artisans in good standing with CMAQ who are not exhibitors at the
show and are not members of the CMAQ Board of Directors.
The last five winners are not eligible for this award.
Winners of this award receive $500 in prize money and a $500 discount on their stand or loft exhibition space
rental at the next show.

24th Visual Presentation Award (Stand & Loft)
The Visual Presentation Awards are presented by CMAQ and are awarded to two Salon des métiers d’art de
Montréal exhibitors: one is a stand exhibitor, the other a loft exhibitor.
The award criteria: The quality and originality of the space layout in showcasing the exhibited piece at the show —
based on the stand/loft material and lighting and the coordination of the presentation.
The jury is composed of three people: two artisans, both professional members in good standing with CMAQ who
are not exhibitors at the show and are not members of the CMAQ Board of Directors, and a design teacher or
designer.
Exhibitors cannot win the Visual Presentation Award more than twice over the last five years of the show.
Recipients of the Visual Presentation Award receive $500 in prize money and a $500 discount on discount on their
stand or loft exhibition space rental at the next show.

Three Citations of Excellence are awarded to stand exhibitors at Salon des métiers d’art de Montréal — all
professional members in good standing with CMAQ.
The award criteria:
 Stand presentation
 Product presentation of the products
 Stand presentation innovation
 Product presentation innovation
The jury is composed of three people: two artisans, both professional members in good standing with CMAQ who
are not exhibitors at the show and are not members of the CMAQ Board of Directors and a design teacher or
designer.
The last three years of Citation of Excellence winners are not eligible for this honourable mention.
