She usually travelled round Paris on a Velosolex, but on this particular day happened to stop in front of the window of Royal lyses, the business of Mercedes-Benz importer Charles Delecroix. She succeeded in persuading her companion, a dedicated philatelist, to purchase this 250 SL, in blue with grey upholstery, automatic, with extra rear seat, Becker radio and hard-top. Since that day, this car, which has belonged to the current owner since 2005, has undergone a complete no-expense-spared restoration carried out by the thorough and meticulous Jol Grolleau. The bodywork was stripped and repainted in its original " blue 355 ", and the chromework has been refurbished. The upholstery was renewed in smooth leather, reference "Danube 8842", and the wood trim was also renewed. The engine has been overhauled, as has the injection system, the exhaust, the fuel tank and the running gear. Notably, the car features the very practical extra rear seat. The car is presented beautifully in its original colour blue, with renewed upholstery. The condition of the car highlights the elegant, restrained styling of this Mercedes, and the versatile and discreet six-cylinder, 150 bhp engine provides a performance in keeping with its status. It is expensive to restore a Pagoda, making this an ideal opportunity to buy an example that has already been restored. There is nothing left to do, other than drive, hair blowing in the wind, and enjoy this very pretty car that is so easy to use.
