Introduction to this booklet
Intended use
This booklet guides you in how to use and maintain your new
hearing instrument. Please read the booklet carefully including
the Warning section. This will help you to achieve the full benefit
of your new hearing instrument.
The hearing instrument is intended to amplify and transmit sound
to the ear and thereby compensate for impaired hearing. This power
hearing instrument is intended to be used by adults and children
(>36 months) with moderate-to-severe up to severe-to-profound
hearing loss.
Your Hearing Care Professional has adjusted the hearing
instrument to meet your needs. If you have additional questions,
please contact your Hearing Care Professional.

Identify your hearing instrument style
and earpiece
There are two different
attachments and several
different earpieces which
classify your hearing
instrument style.
Sound hook and mold
An instrument with a sound
hook will have a mold as an
earpiece.
Please identify your attachment
and earpiece. This will make
it easier for you to navigate
through this booklet.

Identify left and right hearing instrument
Battery (size 13)
It is important to distinguish between the left and the right
instrument as they might be programmed differently.
Your hearing instrument is a miniature electronic device that runs on
special batteries. To activate the hearing instrument, you must insert
a new battery in the battery drawer. See how in the “Replace the
battery” section.

When to replace the battery
The battery drawer is also used to switch the hearing instrument
on and off. To preserve the battery, make sure your instrument is
switched off when you are not wearing it.
When it is time to replace the battery you will hear two beeps
repeated in moderate intervals until the battery runs out.

Battery maintenance tip
To make sure the hearing instrument is always working bring spare
batteries with you, or replace the battery before you leave home.

Caring for your hearing instrument
When handling your hearing instrument, hold it over a soft surface
to avoid damage in case you drop it.
Clean the microphone openings
Carefully brush away debris from
the openings. Gently brush the surface.
Make sure the brush is not pressed
into the openings.
The MultiTool
The MultiTool contains a brush and a wire loop for cleaning ear wax
from the mold. The brush can be replaced and purchased from your
Hearing Care Professional.

Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the hearing instrument. It must never be
washed or immersed in water or other liquids.
Your MultiTool has a built-in magnet. Keep the MultiTool 30 cm away from
credit cards and other magnetically sensitive devices.

twisting slightly.

The mold is customized for you and
fits your ear.

Clean the mold
The mold should be cleaned
regularly. Use a soft cloth to
clean the surface of the mold.
Use the MultiTool wire loop
to clean the opening.

Wash the mold
Replace the tube
The tubing between the mold
and the instrument should be
replaced when it becomes
yellow or stiff. Consult your
Hearing Care Professional in
relation to this.

firmly, when pulling
off the tube.
Otherwise the
instrument may

soap. Rinse and dry
completely before
reconnecting to the
hearing instrument.

Read the following pages if your instrument has a thin tube
(Corda miniFit) with either a dome or micromold as the earpiece.

Clean the thin tube
The thin tube should be cleaned to keep it clear from moisture and
wax. If not cleaned it could become blocked with wax which means
no sound will be able to come out.

Replace the dome
There are 3 different types of domes. The domes are made from
medically approved silicone material.
If you have a dome, check the type and size below.
The dome should not be cleaned. When the dome is more or less filled
with wax, replace it with a new one (typically weekly).

Clean the micromold
Read the following pages if you have a micromold earpiece.
The micromold is customized for your ear shape.
The earpiece should be cleaned
regularly.
The wax filter in the earpiece
should be replaced when
clogged or when the hearing
instrument does not sound
normal.

Optional features and accessories
The features and accessories described on the following pages are
optional. Please contact your Hearing Care Professional to find out
how your hearing instrument is programmed.
Mute the hearing instrument (optional)
Use the mute function if you need to silence the instrument
while wearing it.
If you experience difficult listening situations, a special program may
be helpful. These are programmed by your Hearing Care Professional.
Apply a very long press to either
end of the button to mute the
instrument.
To reactivate the instrument,
push the button briefly.
Write down hearing situations where you may need help.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Do not use the mute function as an off switch, as the hearing instrument
still draws current from the battery in this mode.

Other options (optional)
Telecoil
Telecoil helps you hear better when using a
telephone with a built-in loop or when you are in
buildings with teleloop systems such as theatres,
churches or lecture rooms. This symbol or a similar
sign is shown wherever a teleloop has been installed.
Autophone
Autophone can automatically activate a phone
program in the hearing instrument, if your telephone
has a dedicated BTE13 PP magnet. Do not use any
other magnet. The magnet needs to be placed on
your telephone.
Direct Audio Input (DAI)
DAI allows your hearing instrument to receive signals directly from
external sources such as TV, radio, music players, etc. The DAI
adaptor is mounted to your instrument and via a cable connected
to an external sound source.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Only connect hearing aids with DAI to electrically powered devices that
comply with EN 60950-1, EN 60065 or equivalent safety standards. The
external signal source determines the safety of hearing aids with DAI.

As an enhancement to your wireless hearing instrument a broad range
of wireless accessories are available.
ConnectLine
ConnectLine is a family of
products that allows you to
receive audio signals from TVs,
phones, music players, PCs or
an external microphone
wirelessly through your
hearing instrument.

Remote Control
The Remote Control offers an
opportunity to change program,
adjust the volume or mute your
hearing instrument.
FM
Your hearing instrument
supports the option of attaching
an FM system. The FM system
allows you to receive speech or
audio signals directly to your
hearing instrument from a
dedicated transmitter.

Tamper-resistant battery drawer (optional)
To keep the battery out of reach of infants, small children and
people with learning difficulties, a tamper-resistant battery
drawer should be used.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Avoid excessive force to open the battery drawer when in the locked
position. Do not force the battery drawer beyond its fully opened position.
Make sure to insert the battery correctly.
Please contact your Hearing Care Professional if you suspect the
tamper-resistant effectiveness and locking ability are damaged.

Warnings
You should familiarize yourself fully
with the following general warnings
before using your hearing instrument
for personal safety and to secure
correct use.
Please note that a hearing aid will
not restore normal hearing and will
not prevent or improve a hearing
impairment resulting from organic
conditions. Furthermore, note that in
most cases, infrequent use of a hearing
instrument does not permit a user to
attain full benefit from it.
Consult your Hearing Care
Professional if you experience
unexpected operations or events
with your hearing instrument.

Usage of hearing instruments
• Hearing instruments should be used
only as directed and adjusted by your
Hearing Care Professional. Misuse
can result in sudden and permanent
hearing loss.
• Never allow others to wear your
hearing instrument as incorrect use
could cause permanent damage to
their hearing.
Choking hazards & risk of swallowing
batteries
• Hearing instruments, their parts, and
batteries should be kept out of reach
of children and anyone who might
swallow these items, or otherwise
cause injury to themselves.
• Batteries have occasionally been
mistaken for pills. Therefore, check
your medicine carefully before
swallowing any pills.
• Most hearing instruments can be
supplied with a tamper-resistant
battery drawer upon request. This is
strongly recommended for infants,
small children and people with
learning difficulties.
• Children below 36 months must
always use a tamper-resistant
battery drawer. This option is
available in BTE, miniBTE, RITE and
miniRITE instruments.
If a battery or hearing instrument is
swallowed, see a doctor immediately.
Battery use
• Always use batteries recommended
by your Hearing Care Professional.
Batteries of low quality may leak and
cause bodily harm.
• Never attempt to recharge your
batteries and never dispose of
batteries by burning them. There is
a risk that the batteries will explode.

Warnings
Dysfunction
• Be aware of the possibility that your
hearing instrument may stop working
without notice. Keep this in mind when
you depend on warning sounds (e.g.
when you are in traffic). The hearing
instruments may stop functioning, for
instance if the batteries have expired
or if the tubing is blocked by moisture
or ear wax.
Active implants
• Caution must be taken with active
implants. In general, follow the
guidelines recommended by
manufacturers of implantable
defibrillators and pacemakers
regarding use with mobile phones
and magnets.

• Your hearing instrument has a
wireless transmission. Please keep
the hearing instrument at least 15
cm away from the implant, e.g. do
not carry it in a breast pocket.
• When the hearing instruments
are mounted on or in the ears, the
distance between the hearing
instruments and the implant is
larger than 15 cm.
• Your Autophone magnet and
MultiTool (which has a built-in
magnet) should be kept more than
30 cm away from the implant e.g.
do not carry it in a breast pocket.
• If you have an active brain
implant, please contact the
manufacturer of your implantable
device for information about
the risk of disturbance.
Explosives
• The power source in your hearing
instrument has insufficient energy
to cause fire in normal usage
conditions. The hearing instrument
has not been tested for compliance
with international standards
concerning explosive environments.
It is recommended not to use your
hearing instrument in areas where
there is a danger of explosions.
X-ray, CT, MR, PET scanning and
electrotherapy
• Remove your hearing instrument
for example during X-ray, CT/
MR/PET scanning electrotherapy
or surgery as your hearing
instrument may be damaged
when exposed to strong fields.

Warnings
Avoiding heat and chemicals
• Your hearing instrument must never
be exposed to extreme heat e.g.
left inside a parked car in the sun.
• Your hearing instrument must not
be dried in microwave ovens or
other ovens.
• The chemicals in cosmetics,
hairspray, perfume, aftershave
lotion, suntan lotion and insect
repellent can damage your hearing
instrument. Always remove your
hearing instrument before applying
such products and allow time to dry
before putting it on.

Power instrument
• This is a power instrument and
special care should be exercised in
selecting, fitting and using a hearing
instrument where maximum sound
pressure capability exceeds 132 dB
SPL (IEC 711), as there may be risk of
impairing the remaining hearing of
the hearing instrument user.
Possible side effects
• Hearing instruments, molds or
domes may cause an accelerated
accumulation of ear wax.
• The otherwise non-allergenic
materials used in hearing
instruments may in rare cases
cause a skin irritation or any
other unusual condition.
Please seek consultation with a
physician if these conditions occur.
Interference
• Your hearing instrument has been
thoroughly tested for interference,
according to the most stringent
international standards. However,
interference with your hearing
instrument and other devices may
occur, (e.g. some mobile telephones,
citizens band systems and shop
alarm systems). If this occurs,
increase the distance between the
hearing instrument and the device.

Water resistant (IP58)
Your hearing instrument is water
resistant, which means it is designed
to be worn in all daily life situations.
Therefore, you do not have to worry
about sweat or getting wet in the rain.
Should your hearing instrument come
in contact with water and stop working,
please follow these guidelines:

off any water in the battery drawer
3. Let the hearing instrument dry with

Take your hearing instrument to your
Hearing Care Professional, who may
be able to sort out minor problems and
adjustments immediately.

Mobile phone
Some hearing instrument users have
reported a buzzing sound in their
hearing instrument when they are
using mobile phones, indicating that
the mobile phone and hearing
instrument may not be compatible.
The ANSI C63.19 standard determines
the prediction of compatibility
between a specific hearing instrument
and a mobile phone by: adding the
numerical value of the rating for the
hearing instrument immunity to the
numerical value of the rating for the
mobile phone emissions. A sum of 4
would indicate that the combination of
wireless device and hearing instrument
is usable; a combined rating that equals
at least 5 would provide normal use;

a combined rating of 6 or greater would
indicate excellent performance.
Whereas all hearing instruments have
acoustic coupling, only the larger
instruments have the physical space
for telecoil (inductive) coupling.
These two types of coupling have
different rating scales (M1-M4 for
acoustic coupling and T1-T4 for
telecoil coupling, respectively) and
both ratings are therefore relevant
when predicting the compatibility
of a particular hearing instrument.
For a hearing instrument with both
acoustic coupling and telecoil coupling
with a rating of M4/T2 and with a
telephone rating of M3/T3), the
combined rating is 7 (M4 + M3) for the
acoustic coupling and 5 (T2 + T3) for
the telecoil coupling. According to the
guidelines given above, both types of
coupling will thereby be acceptable,
with the acoustic coupling indicating
excellent performance and the telecoil
coupling indicating normal use.
The above equipment performance
measurements, categories and system
classifications are based upon the best
information available, but it cannot
be guaranteed that all users will be
satisfied.
The immunity of this hearing
instrument is M4/T4.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
The performance of individual hearing instruments may vary with
individual mobile phones. Therefore, please try this hearing instrument
with your mobile phone or, if you are purchasing a new phone, be sure to
try it with your hearing instrument prior to purchase.

Technical information
The hearing instrument contains a
radio transmitter using short range
magnetic induction technology
working at 3.84 MHz. The magnetic
field strength of the transmitter is
< -42 dBμA/m @ 10m.
The emission power from the radio
system is well below international
emission limits for human exposure.
For comparison, the radiation of the
hearing instrument is lower than
unintended electromagnetic radiation
from, for example, halogen lamps,
computer monitors, dishwashers, etc.
The hearing instrument complies with
international standards concerning
Electromagnetic Compatibility.

3,84 Mhz. La force du champ magnétique de l'émetteur est

La puissance d’émission du système
radio est nettement inférieure à la
limite d’émission internationale pour
l’exposition humaine. Par comparaison, les rayonnements de l'appareil

Téléphone portable
Certains utilisateurs d’aides auditives
ont signalé des bourdonnements dans
leur appareil auditif lorsqu’ils utilisent
des téléphones portable, ce qui indiquerait que le téléphone portable et
l'appareil auditif ne sont pas compatibles.
La norme ANSI C63.19 détermine
la prédiction de compatibilité entre
un appareil auditif spécifique et un
téléphone portable en : ajoutant la
valeur numérique de la classification
de l'immunité de l'appareil auditif à
la valeur numérique de la classification pour les émissions du téléphone
portable. Une somme de 4 indiquerait
que l'association du dispositif wireless
et de l'appareil auditif est utilisable.
Une classification combinée d'au moins
5 fournirait une utilisation normale
tandis qu'une classification combinée
de 6 ou plus indiquerait d'excellentes
performances.
Alors que tous les appareils auditifs sont munis d'un accouplement
acoustique, seuls les grands appareils
disposent de l'espace physique pour
l'accouplement d'une bobine d'induction. Ces deux types d'accouplement
possèdent différentes échelles de classification (respectivement M1-M4 pour
l'accouplement acoustique et T1-T4
pour l'accouplement de la bobine d'induction). Les deux classifications sont
donc pertinentes lors de la prédiction
de la compatibilité d'un appareil auditif
particulier.
Pour un appareil auditif avec un
accouplement acoustique et un
accouplement de bobine d'induction
d'une classification M4/T2 et d'une
classification de téléphone M3/T3, la
classification combinée est de 7 (M4
+ M3) pour l'accouplement acoustique
et 5 (T2 + T3) pour l'accouplement de
bobine d'induction. Selon les directives
indiquées ci-dessus, les deux types
d'accouplement seront donc acceptables, l'accouplement acoustique indiquant d'excellentes performances et
l'accouplement de bobine d'induction
indiquant une utilisation normale.

sont PAS couverts par la garantie limi-

Résistant à l'eau (IP58)
Votre appareil auditif est résistant à
l'eau, ce qui signifie qu'il est conçu pour
être porté dans toutes les situations
de la vie quotidienne. Vous n'avez donc
pas à vous préoccuper de la transpiration ou du fait de mouiller votre
appareil sous la pluie. Si votre appareil
auditif entre en contact avec de l'eau et
cesse de fonctionner, veuillez respecter les consignes suivantes :
1. Essuyez l'eau délicatement
2. Ouvrez le logement de pile, enlevez

Avertissements
Radiographie, tomodensitométrie,
IRM, scanner TEP et électrothérapie
• Retirez votre appareil auditif pour les
séances de radiographie, tomodensitométrie, IRM, scanner TEP et
électrothérapie ainsi que pour les interventions chirurgicales pour éviter
les dommages causés à vos appareils
par des champs électromagnétiques
importants.
Éviter la chaleur et les produits
chimiques
• Votre appareil auditif ne doit jamais
être exposé à une température
extrême, par exemple en le laissant
dans une voiture garée en plein
soleil.
• Votre appareil auditif ne doit pas être
séché dans un four à micro-ondes ou
dans d’autres types de fours.
• Les produits chimiques contenus
dans les produits de beauté, les laques, les parfums, les après-rasages,
les crèmes solaires ou les produits
insecticides peuvent abîmer votre
appareil auditif. Enlevez toujours
votre appareil auditif avant d’utiliser
ce genre de produits et attendre
que ce produit sèche avant de le
remettre.
Aides auditives Power
• Il s'agit d'un appareil Power. Une
attention particulière doit donc être
apportée dans la sélection, l’adap-
tation et l’utilisation d’un appareil
auditif dont le niveau de sortie maximum peut dépasser 132 dB SPL (IEC
711) car il peut y avoir un risque de
porter atteinte à l’audition résiduelle
de l’utilisateur.
Effets secondaires possibles
• Les appareils auditifs, embouts ou
dômes peuvent provoquer une accumulation plus rapide de cérumen.
• Bien que les matières utilisées pour
fabriquer les aides auditives soient
hypoallergéniques, dans des cas très
rares, elles peuvent provoquer une
irritation de la peau.
Veuillez consulter un médecin
si ces effets se produisent.
Interférences
• Ces tests ont été effectués en appliquant les normes internationales les
plus rigoureuses. Des interférences
entre vos aides auditives et d’autres
dispositifs peuvent tout de même
avoir lieu (par exemple avec certains
téléphones portables, des radios
émetteurs ou des alarmes de magasin). Si cela se produit, augmentez la
distance entre les aides auditives et
l’appareil concerné.

Avertissements
• Ne jamais tenter de recharger vos
piles et ne jamais tenter de les brûler. Un risque d'explosion ne doit pas
être exclu.
Dysfonctionnement
• Sachez qu'il est possible que votre
appareil auditif s'arrête de fonctionner sans que vous soyez prévenu.
Tenez-en compte lorsque vous
dépendez de sons d'alerte (par
exemple, lorsque vous êtes dans la
circulation). Une aide auditive peut
arrêter de fonctionner, par exemple
si sa pile est déchargée ou si le tube
est obstrué par de l’humidité ou du
cérumen.
Implants actifs
• Faire preuve de prudence avec les
implants actifs. En général, suivez
les directives recommandées par les
fabricants de défibrillateurs implantables et de stimulateurs cardiaques
concernant l’utilisation avec des téléphones portables et des aimants.
• Votre appareil auditif possède une
transmission wireless. Veuillez
conserver l'appareil auditif à plus de
15 cm de distance de l’implant : ne
le transportez donc pas dans une
poche de poitrine par exemple.
• Lorsque les appareils auditifs sont
montés sur ou dans les oreilles, la
distance entre les appareils auditifs
et l'implant est supérieure à 15 cm.
• Votre aimant Auto Phone et l'outil
multi usages (doté d'un aimant intégré) doivent être conservés à plus
de 30 cm de distance de l'implant :
ne transportez donc pas dans une
poche de poitrine par exemple.
Explosifs
• La source d’alimentation de votre appareil auditif n’a pas assez d’énergie
pour provoquer un incendie dans des
conditions normales d’utilisation.
L’aide auditive n’a pas été testée
pour la conformité avec les normes
internationales concernant les environnements explosifs.
Il est recommandé de ne pas utiliser
vos appareils auditifs dans les zones
où il existe un danger d’explosion.
Si vous avez un implant intracrânien,
veuillez contacter le fabricant de votre
appareil implantable pour des informations sur les risques de perturbation.

et pour en garantir une utilisation
correcte.
Veuillez noter qu'une aide auditive ne
restaure pas une audition normale et
ne prévient pas ou n'améliore pas une
déficience auditive résultant de conditions biologiques. Il est également
important de noter que, bien souvent,
l'utilisation peu fréquente d'un appareil
auditif ne permet pas à l'utilisateur de
bénéficier pleinement de ses avantages.
Consultez votre audioprothésiste si
vous êtes confronté à des opérations
ou des événements inattendus avec
votre appareil auditif.
Utilisation des aides auditives
• Les aides auditives doivent uniquement être utilisées en respectant les
indications et le réglage de l’audioprothésiste. L’utilisation incorrecte
d’une aide auditive peut provoquer
une perte auditive soudaine et
permanente.
• Ne jamais laisser quelqu’un d’autre
utiliser vos aides auditives, elles
peuvent être employées de façon incorrecte et abîmer définitivement les
facultés auditives de cette personne.
Risques d'étouffement et risque
d'avaler les piles
• Les aides auditives, leurs composants et les piles doivent être tenus
hors de portée des enfants et de
toute autre personne susceptible
de les avaler ou de se blesser à leur
contact.
• Les piles ont dans certains cas été
confondues avec des pilules. Il faut
donc toujours vérifier les médicaments que vous devez avaler.
• La plupart des aides auditives
peuvent être munies d’un logement
de pile de sécurité. Ceci est fortement recommandé pour les enfants
et les personnes handicapées
mentales.
• Les enfants âgés de moins de 36
mois doivent toujours utiliser un
logement de pile de sécurité. Cette
option est disponible sur les appareils BTE, mini BTE, RITE et mini RITE.
Si une personne avale accidentellement une aide auditive ou une pile, il
faut appeler le SAMU ou un médecin.
Utilisation de la pile
• Toujours utiliser les piles recommandées par votre audioprothésiste. Les
piles de mauvaise qualité peuvent
fuir et être à l’origine de blessures.

Autres options
Bobine d’induction
La bobine d'induction vous aide à mieux entendre
lorsque vous utilisez un téléphone avec boucle intégrée ou lorsque vous êtes dans un bâtiment équipé
d'un système de boucle d'induction à distance comme
un théâtre, une église ou une salle de conférence.
Ce symbole ou un signe similaire est affiché dans les
endroits où une boucle d'induction à distance a été
installée.
Auto Phone
La fonction Auto Phone peut activer automatiquement un programme téléphonique dans l'appareil
auditif, si votre téléphone est doté d'un aimant
BTE 13 PP dédié. N'utilisez pas un autre aimant.
L'aimant doit être placé sur votre téléphone.
L'entrée audio directe (DAI)
permet à votre appareil auditif de recevoir les signaux directement de
sources externes comme des téléviseurs, radios, lecteurs de musique,
etc. L'adaptateur DAI est monté sur votre appareil via un câble raccordé à une source sonore externe.

REMARQUE IMPORTANTE
Connectez uniquement les aides auditives avec DAI à des dispositifs électriques conformes aux normes EN 60950-1, EN 60065 ou à des normes de

Utilisez la fonction mode silencieux si vous avez besoin de rendre
muet votre appareil pendant que vous le portez.

Le dôme ne doit pas être nettoyé. Lorsque le dôme comporte des
traces de cérumen, remplacez-le par un neuf (en principe une fois par
semaine).
Il existe 3 types de dômes différents. Les dômes sont fabriqués à base
d'un caoutchouc approuvé pour un usage médical.

Le tube fin doit être nettoyé afin qu'il soit exempt d'humidité et de
cérumen. S'il n'est pas nettoyé, il pourrait être obstrué par du
cérumen, ce qui signifie qu'aucun son ne pourrait sortir.

Prendre soin de votre appareil auditif
Lorsque vous manipulez votre appareil auditif, tenez-le au-dessus
d’une surface lisse pour éviter de l’abîmer s’il tombe.
Nettoyer les entrées du microphone
Brossez délicatement les impuretés qui
se trouvent dans les ouvertures.
Brossez délicatement la surface.
Veillez à ne pas enfoncer la brosse
dans les ouvertures.
L'outil multi usages
L'outil multi usages contient une brosse et une boucle de fil dédiées
au nettoyage du cérumen dans l'embout. La brosse peut être remplacée. Vous pouvez acheter des brosses de rechange auprès de votre
audioprothésiste.

Utilisez un chiffon doux et sec pour nettoyer l'appareil auditif. Il ne doit
jamais être lavé ni immergé dans l'eau ni aucun autre liquide.
Votre outil multi usages possède un aimant intégré. Placez l’outil multi
usages à au moins 30 cm des cartes de crédit et d’autres objets
magnétiques.

Tenez l'embout près de votre oreille
pour entendre la musique.
L'outil multi usages peut être utilisé
pour changer la pile. Utilisez l'extrémité magnétique pour retirer et
insérer les piles.

Lorsque la pile doit être remplacée, vous entendez deux bips
répétés à intervalles modérés jusqu'à épuisement total de la pile.
Le logement de pile est également utilisé pour allumer et éteindre
l'appareil auditif. Pour éviter de décharger la pile prématurément,
assurez-vous de bien éteindre votre appareil lorsque vous ne vous en
servez pas.

Votre appareil auditif est un dispositif électronique miniature qui
fonctionne avec des piles spéciales. Pour activer l’appareil auditif,
vous devez insérer une pile neuve dans le logement de pile. Découvrez
comment procéder dans la section « Remplacer la pile ».
Il est important de distinguer l’appareil gauche de l’appareil droit
car ils peuvent être programmés différemment.
