INVITATION LETTER
Dear Friends,
The UIPM – Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne, together with the
Brazilian Federation of Modern Pentathlon – CBPM, has the pleasure of
inviting a delegation of your country to participate in the UIPM 2016 World
Cup 2 to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 09-14 March 2016 according
to the programme bellow.
We would like to remark to all participants that this competition is a Rio2016
Olympic Games Test Event. This way, high level criteria will be observed such
as: timetable, schedule, access control, etc. We ask that you please
cooperate in order to make this competition the best Test possible.
It will only be possible to have 3 qualifications per gender, this means a total
of 108 athletes per gender.

Invitation
Conditions
In accordance with UIPM Rules 1.12.4, the Top 10 men/women of the previous
World Championships and World Cup Final are invited to participate together
with maximum 3 pentathletes per gender per nation. After the preliminary
deadline (15 January 2016), if there are free places then nations will be invited to
send a fourth pentathlete per gender.

To fullfill the non-used places, priority will be given to those nations with athletes
in the Top 10 PWR as at 1 January 2016. The host country has 1st priority to enter
a fourth pentathlete per gender. An e-mail must be sent to
[email protected] with this request.
Competition
Rules
The competition will be carried out according to the UIPM Rules.
Swimming: 50m outdoor swimming pool / 8 lanes
Fencing:
9 pistes indoor / 1 piste outdoor
Combined Event: 36+2 precision laser targets – provided by Omega; running
course: grass surface
Special Remark: We strongly recommend that you get a flight straight to Rio de
Janeiro (NOT stopping in any other city in Brazil). If the flight stops in another
city in Brazil before Rio de Janeiro, there will be a great chance that the pistols
will not be released in time for the competition.

las pistolas no sean liberadas a tiempo para la competencia.
Competition
Venues
The competition venues that will be used are the same of the Rio 2016 Olympic
Games. Deodoro competition zone.
Training
The LOC will offer training facilities for swimming, running, shooting and fencing
from March 8th on.
Accommodation Teams will be accommodated in Hotel Guanabara, Avenida Presidente Vargas,
392 - Centro, Rio de Janeiro.
Please note that the Accreditation Office and LOC Office (Secretariat) will be
located in the Hotel Guanabara. The place of the Technical Meeting will be
informed upon delegations arrival.

Transport
Transportation from Rio de Janeiro Airport (Galeão Airport only) to the official
hotel and the return journey is only guaranteed if flight information is provided in
the registration system in good time and prior to the deadline. Transportation
from the official hotel to the venues for athletes will be according to the
competition programme.
Financial
Conditions
For delegations (athletes, coaches, officials, supporters) reserving the
accommodation package, the prices are as follows*:
EUR 150 in double room per night per person
EUR 170 in single room per night per person (minimum 6-night stay - limited
capacity)
This price includes full board accommodation, local transportation from/to the
event and shuttle from/to Galeão International Airport - GIG.
*Please note the increase in price for the World Cup#2 Rio is due to being high
season for Rio de Janeiro.
Delegations wishing to arrange their own accommodation must pay an
accreditation fee per participant (athlete, coach, or official) to the LOC. The
amount of the Accreditation fee is set at 75 EUR per day per person with a
minimum payment of 4 days (300 EUR). For this, we will provide lunch packets
for the competition days and allow access to official transportation between the
competition hotel and competition sites.
By January 22nd, 2015, a non-refundable 30 percent deposit must be sent to the
LOC after which you will receive an invoice for the remainder of the total cost for
your delegation.

As a reminder, the NF will pay a fine to the Organising Nation/LOC of 200 EUR for
each person not attending, if on arrival for the competition, the team has fewer
athletes and/or officials than submitted in the registration system and without
informing the Organising Nation/LOC at least 7 days prior to their arrival,
Guest Accommodation Policy: it will NOT be allowed to have a guest free of
charge in a single room at the Official Hotel. Room upgrades CANNOT be done
upon arrival. In order to avoid embarrassment during the check in, please fulfill
the online form reserving a double room in advance. The LOC will be happy to
help any participants (and their guests) who would like to stay at other hotels in
Rio de Janeiro City.
Deadlines
Delegations are kindly reminded that the UIPM Online registration system is
obligatory.
The online system will be open from 17th of December 2015. All information
must be submitted, including flight information, pistol serial numbers,
accommodation needed, etc. by 12th of February 2016. Any changes after this
must be sent by email to the organiser. NOTICE: Pistols cannot be changed after
February 12th due to new system.
Following closure of the registration system on February 15th 2016, a NF must
enter the competition with at least one pentathlete/team per confirmed gender
or Mix Relay. Any failure to take part after having sent their final entries will pay
a fine of 600 EUR to the UIPM.
We would appreciate early confirmation of your intention to participate or not
and submit this by email to [email protected] before 15th
January 2016. Deadlines are as follows:
Participation Confirmation (preliminary): until 15th January 2016
Request to add the fourth athlete per gender (as “Invitation Conditions”): 18th
January 2016 on
Closure of Registration: 12th of February 2016
Deadline to send 30% deposit: 22nd of January 2016
Deadline to send 70% lasting of total delegation cost: 12th of February 2016
If we do not receive complete information of your delegation prior to closure of
the registration system or we do not receive your Delegation’s deposit payment,
then we will consider your delegation as non-participating.
All athletes must sign the “Personality Rights Assignment Agreement” (file

attached). If your athlete is under 18, please read carefully bellow:

NEW BRAZILIAN AUTHORITIES PROCEDURES
In order to participate in the UIPM 2016 World Cup 2, for all athletes under
18years-old in 1ST of March 2016, it will be mandatory to send the following
scanned documents by e-mail to [email protected] until
1st of February:
1) Authorization Form (attached) - Filled in all pages and signed by legal
responsible or parent. Bring 2 original documents ( this means 2 original
Authorization Forms) with you and hand in at the secretariat upon
arrival. Without this original documents it will not be possible to participate in
the competition.
2) Passport of the athlete - If the passport does not present the name of the
responsible person who signs the Authorization Form, please send besides the
passport, another document which contains this information (driver license,
identity, etc). The passport and/or other original documents must be with the
athlete during the training sessions and competition days;
3) Document (identity or passport) of the legal responsible or both parents;
4) Document with photo (identity or passport) of the responsible person,
already mentioned in the Authorization Form in charge of athlete during the
competition in Rio de Janeiro. This original document with photo must be with
the responsible person during the training sessions and competition days;
5) Full Name of both parents.
6) Medical Certificate in English (attached) – Filled in and signed by a
doctor. Bring the original with you and hand in at the secretariat upon arrival.
Without this original document it will not be possible to participate in the
competition;
7) School/University Form (attached) - Filled in and signed. Bring the original
with you and hand in at the secretariat upon arrival. Without this original
document it will not be possible to participate in the competition.
8) Personality Rights Assignment Agreement (attached file: Athlete Under 18
Authorization). Bring the original with you and hand in at the secretariat upon
arrival.
Athletes
Licenses
Athletes are only allowed to participate in UIPM sanctioned events if they are in
possession of a valid Athlete’s License. Registration is not possible without a
License Number. If an athlete does not have a license they will not be allowed to
take part in the competition.
You are reminded of Rule 1.12.1 ii): Pentathletes without riding ability listed in
the database and without a letter from their NF confirming their ability to ride
may compete at World Cup competitions in the qualification for the Final, but if
they qualify for the Final, must relinquish their place to the next placed

pentathlete qualified rider from their group.
Visas &
Vaccinations
Visiting NFs should confirm visa and vaccination requirements for entry into
Brazil prior travelling to the event. The LOC cannot accept responsibility for
arranging visas but can provide specific letters of invitation if needed. If you need
this kind of letter for Visa to enter Brazil, please contact us at
[email protected] .
For information if you need a visa or vaccinations please contact your nearest
Embassy or Consulate.
Insurance
According to UIPM Rules all members of attending delegations must insure
themselves in case of accidental injury or illness. The organizer will not accept
any financial responsibility or other, for any loss, injury, illness or hospital charges
of any member of the delegation.
Laser Pistols
Each Modern Pentathlon competitor can bring up to two (2) laser pistols to Rio de
Janeiro. The LOC will provide the necessary documentation (GT document) for the
entry and exit of pistols into and out of Brazil. It is important to remember that the
GT document, issued by the Brazilian Army, must be carried together with the
laser pistol wherever the athletes or team officials may go. The respective NFs
must send the completed forms. The competitors will only be authorized to carry
the pistols between the following specific routes:
- Point of arrival to the hotel
- Hotel to training/competition venues
- Hotel or training/competition venues to point of departure
Competitors, or any other person, found with pistols outside of the specified
routes will have the pistols confiscated. The competitors are responsible for
securing their pistols. Under no circumstances can the laser pistols be used within
the hotel for training or other uses.
