Press information CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS Opernplatz 2 HOCHTIEF subsidiary Turner to build new stadium for New York Yankees 45128 Essen, Germany Tel.: +49 201 824-2642 Fax: +49 201 824-2585 [email protected] New Major League Baseball landmark - Contract volume about EUR 486m page 1 09/20/2006 HOCHTIEF has secured the contract for another New York landmark: Its US subsidiary The Turner Corporation, Dallas, acting as Construction Manager, is to build the new 50,800-seat baseball stadium for the New York Yankees. In the past two and a half years, the company has already been providing preconstruction services, including constructability reviews, purchasing and estimating. The contract has a total volume of almost EUR 486 million. The client is Tishman Speyer on behalf of the club. The stadium, in New York‘s Bronx district, will in many ways reflect the original stadium, constructed in 1923. The landmark facade and the frieze ringing the roof canopy recall the old Yankee arena and remind fans and players of the club‘s rich tradition. Modern specifications, such as a field set below street level to permit easier access, and 67 VIP suites, offer all the advantages of a contemporary arena. The Yankee stadium will have a total area of almost 140,000 square meters. Work has already commenced. Completion is due for the start of the 2009 baseball season.
