• From Assistant lecturer to tenured Professor at Université de Metz, then Université de
Lorraine, FR, now Prof. em. in this University: teaching Comparative linguistics, LSP,
Translation studies (including Computer-assisted translation, automatic data extraction
programming)
• Simultaneously: commissioned lecturer at Universität des Saarlandes, Germany at the
Institute for Translators and Interpreters
• Expert and Sworn translator for the Lorraine Courts in FR (35 years)
• Freelance conference interpreter (simultaneous, consecutive) interpreter for English,
German, Dutch <-> French, at international level (including European Parliament in
Strasbourg, UNESCO, etc.
• 1 year sabbatical at University of Texas, TYLER Branch, 2 year sabbatical at the
University of Zululand, South Africa

• born in France but 10 years of my life in various countries of West and Southern Africa,
including as a volunteer
• moving and travelling with a family of 4 children - now living in 3 different countries of
Europe
• apart from the sabbatical stays abroad (USA, South Africa), longer stays for research in
Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, South Africa and Namibia (including the analysis of click
languages), USA and Canada, ex-Soviet Union and later Russia, Baltic countries, Central
Asia (mostly for UNESCO Missions / official interpreter of the International Film and
Television Council) or volunteer service
• Appearing in court once a week as an average (!) …as a translator / interpreter for
English, German, Dutch, occasionally Russian
