Sophie Hermans (Ketchum Brussel). 10.20 u. Laura Libeer (The Oval Office). Live Communication, a Useful Tool for the Public Sector? Live communication, or experience marketing, is the new refreshing tool for making brands, companies and products stand out and securing commercial success. But how does this work in government communication, where obtaining commercial success is not the main goal? 10.40 u. Nele Meulemans (The Oval Office). 11.40 u. Annelies Wijnant (Agence C). The Agence Community – A case study on community building in the recruitment industry. Agence C is a full service promo- and hostess agency that faces the challenge of retaining crew members in the event sector. That is why Agence C aims to install a community based on learning (workshops) and fun activities. We will explore the benefits and the most efficient ways of creating and stimulating the Agence C community. 12.00 u. Laura Wieleman (Estée Lauder). Body or earth? That’s the question! Natural cosmetics are on the rise. This aims to uncover consumers’ buying motives for natural skin care products in order to formulate relevant recommendations for the brand Origins, which is part of the Estée Lauder group. The recommendations are important in optimizing communication with consumers, while keeping their buying motives in mind. 9 12.20 u. 12.40 u. Michelle Van Meerhaeghe (Vincent Sheppard). On- and offline communication in the furniture industry and how to optimise their correlation. Case: Vincent Sheppard. In an increasingly digitalised world, companies have to reconsider their on- and offline communication. This thesis evaluates the specific roles of the on- and offline communication in the furniture industry and how both can connect in a way that the brand remains recognizable through all channels, and that pleases consumers as well as Vincent Sheppard dealers. Sessie 2: Culturele communicatie 10.00 u. Max Raeymakers (KASK). The international talent market: guidelines for an effective communication strategy. ‘Globalisation’ is undoubtedly one of the buzz words of the 21st century. As more people start looking for education and jobs abroad, organisations are faced with the challenge of presenting themselves in the most appealing way possible to these potential students and employees. Discover how you can improve your international recruiting strategies! 10.20 u. Elisa Doutreloigne (Smartrenting Paris). 10.40 u. An-Sofie Van Loocke (Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art). Staying contemporary: how art institutions should focus on their website. Art institutions do not always have the time or resources to invest in their online visibility. Keeping up with the rising online trend is crucial in any business, so this impacts the cultural business as well.Since the website is the signboard for the institution online, it will be imperative to keep it optimized for users and search engines. 11.00 u. Pieter-Jan Saenen (Visual Translation Agency Tokyo). Putting Knowledge into Practice: Creating the Employees of Tomorrow at a Japanese Visualmedia Translation Company. This dissertation contains the results of the research that I conducted during my three-month internship in a Japanese media translation company. The main purpose was to evaluate the company’s Human Resource system through qualitative research, further founding my findings in existing theories 10 on Human Resource Management and Business Practices, and to provide policy advice to produce capable employees in a growing environment aimed at the international market. 11.40 u. Julie De Smedt (Kunst in Huis). Kunst in Huis, une artothèque flamande, a lancé un nouveau concept: Kunst in Huis on Tour. 10.40 u. Lisa Vandenbossche & Ineke Van Impe (MARS Belgium). #CrisisCommunication, #Peanuts for #MarsBelgium? An Evaluation of Mars Belgium’s Crisis Communication During a Product Recall by means of Discourse Analysis, Sentiment Analysis and Interviews. In February, Mars Belgium organized a product recall after a piece of plastic was found in a Snickers bar. This research paper aims to evaluate and improve the company’s crisis communication in order 11 to boost its corporate reputation by means of discourse analysis, sentiment analysis and interviews with journalists. 11.00 u. Marie Huyghe (Whyte Corporate Affairs). 12.20 u. Sarah Staes (Kabinet Vlaams minister Hilde Crevits). Facing linguistic diversity at school: how to communicate adequate language policies? The school population in Flanders is becoming more diverse, implying an increasing presence of foreign languages. Research shows that didactic use of vernacular languages improves children’s well-being, but schools seem rather reluctant to adapt the common “Dutch only”-policy. How can the government stimulate the educational field to rethink their language management? Can communication strategies cause a mind switch? 12.40 u. Matthias Leliaert (InstiCom). The Downfall of Objectivity- Commercial Influence on the Editorial Office’. In recent years, a new development has taken place in the B2B editorial sector. The commercial department has steadily increased its influence on the editorial office and the content they publish. This influence takes many forms, all of which have a negative impact on editorial objectivity. In this presentation, I will give a brief overview of the ways in which this influence takes shape and the consequences this entails. 12 Sessie 4: Social media en conversation management 10.00 u. Ineke Van den Cruyce (Amarant). The art of online communities. In 2016, digital media are all around. No-one can escape them; not even long gone legends such as Shakespeare, Picasso or van Gogh. Cultural organisations will make use of digital media to let people engage with the arts in online communities. How can a specific audience be encouraged to achieve this? 10.20 u. Astrid Strybol (Mediabrands). Sarah Bradt (InSites Consulting). In search of the engaged participant. A qualitative study about how to engage market research participants through communication, gamification and incentives. Engaged participants are crucial for long-term qualitative market research. We investigated how market researchers can raise participant engagement by means of communication, gamification and incentives. We formulate specific recommendations for each domain and develop a general engagement model that covers the main engagement drivers for research participants. 11.00 u. Stephanie Worm (Of’Cores). The pace of social media change in B2B marketing. As social media is evolving constantly, the study investigates the relevance of publishing advertisements on the popular social network sites Facebook and Twitter. What about investing extra time in great content to create brand awareness? And would advertised posting on Facebook help to grow the company's network and create extra engagement or visibility? The case-study of Of’Cores, a small B2B company, reveals the answers to those questions. 11.40 u. Sofie Van Poucke (Whyte Corporate Affairs). Employer Branding in Public Relations: How to Attract the Next Generation of PR Professionals. How can Public Relations get rid of its bad reputation with young potentials and gain their trust? This research compiles the opinions and ideas of Public Relations professionals and young potentials alike in order to find the answer. 12.00 u. Ann-Sofie Ryelandt (Thomas Cook). Corporate Crisis Communication on Facebook. Social media are on the rise. Corporations continue to rely on Facebook to communicate. Even during a crisis l the social network site appears to gain ground. But how can one use Facebook for crisis communication most efficiently? We took the Brussels Airport attacks last March as a case to adequately research how Facebook should be used for corporate crisis communication. 13 12.20 u. Lisa Demeulenaere (UZ Brussel). 12.40 u. Ward Boone & Johannes Huysmans (Porter Novelli). Why Donald Might Tr(i)ump(h). We try to explain the political rise of the unconventional 2016 United States presidential candidate Donald Trump and attempt to figure out whether he stands a chance to become the 45th President of the US. We analyzed his brand, rhetoric, and opponents, and explored American history by looking into numerous American, British and Belgian newspapers and magazines. We then linked those results with a theoretical framework concerning brand image and social media. Sessie 5: HR, interne communicatie en stakeholder management 10.00 u. Ayla De Boever (Yara International). Organisational change ahead: Getting your key stakeholders on board. Changes, reformations, transformations - These have become a continuous feature of business life. Yara International, specializing in agricultural products and environmental protection agents., is also implementing a Sales Excellence Programme. By gauging the sales force’s perceptions and expectations through quantitative and qualitative research, it becomes clear about what and how they wish to be informed. This results in recommendations towards optimal internal communication in terms of informing and involving. 10.20 u. 10.40 u. Niels De Couck & Yalicia Deroubaix (Hudson). Can Facebook and Instagram be the next LinkedIn for Hudson? As the world of HR has undergone quite some changes in the digital age, a thorough analysis of social media will provide us with insights on how to reach different target groups in the recruitment process. Although Hudson doesn’t have a specific target audience, their clients do express some of desires in terms of the required profiles. Although Hudson already uses the professional network site LinkedIn, our 14 research shows that other social media platforms (like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc.) can be useful too. 11.00 u. Carolien Van Hoecke (ENGIE). 12.00 u. Edward Huyghe (Parantee vzw). Communication towards key stakeholders during a nonprofit merger Case study: The Parantee - Psylos merger Managing a non-profit merger is far from easy. It seems obvious that communication towards stakeholders is a decisive factor for achieving merger success. However, the question remains how to keep all stakeholders satisfied throughout the merger process. Moreover, a merger goes hand in hand with combining two - sometimes entirely different - organisational cultures. How can merger communication contribute to closing this cultural gap? 12.20 u. Silke Buys (Delhaize). 12.40 u. Jonas Tiebout (Gelotology). How to get a “yes“- Describing the workflow to get to buy-in from advertising customers Pitch presentations to potential clients are a crucial part of an advertising agency’s business.
