Dual Language Programs
In New York City Public Schools
There are more
than 22,000
francophone
children in NYC
and only 3,000
have access to
a bilingual
education.
On compte plus
de 22 000 enfants
francophones à
New York, mais
seulement 3 000
d’entre eux ont
accès à une
éducation bilingue.
What are Dual Language
Programs?
Que sont les classes
bilingues?
Dual Language Programs
aim to offer bilingual
education to children in New
York Public Schools.
Ces classes visent à
développer un enseignement
bilingue dans les écoles
publiques de New York.
The first French DLP was
launched in 2007 with
one teacher, a class of
24 students and a group
of committed parents in
Brooklyn. Today, thanks to
these programs, more than
1,000 students benefit from
a free bilingual education.
La première classe a été
ouverte en 2007 à Brooklyn
avec une institutrice, 24 élèves
et un groupe de parents très
motivés. Aujourd’hui, ce
sont plus de 1 000 élèves qui
bénéficient d’une éducation
bilingue gratuite.
Classes conducted in both
French and English draw
from the best educational
models. They offer a multicultural atmosphere and an
exceptional learning
environment.
In order to succeed, dual language
programs require a solid tri-partite
partnership: strong commitment from
the schools’ leadership, qualified and
dedicated teachers, and ceaseless
involvement from the parents.
–Dr. Fabrice Jaumont, Education Attaché, Embassy of France
Ces classes, où l’enseignement est délivré à part
égale en anglais et en français,
profitent des meilleurs
modèles pédagogiques. Elles
offrent une atmosphère
multiculturelle et un
environnement d’apprentissage exceptionnels.

Join us in bringing the power of bilingual
education to children in NYC public schools!
Where will the money go?
FRENCH BOOKS:
more books
Dual Language Programs need
a steady stream of new and
specialized French books. We
will seek the help of French
publishers to gain access to
digital copies of middle & high
school textbooks that are
difficult to obtain.
GREAT TEACHERS:
& more
teachers
We will provide grants for
teachers to become certified
in bilingual education. This
guarantees a highly qualified
teacher in every French DLP
classroom.
MORE SCHOOLS:
to more NYC
public schools!
We will offer bilingual
education to schools that do
not yet have French DLPs.
This will be a great benefit
to the ever-growing number
of francophone families and
communities in NYC.
