Next Wednesday, 15th - 17 finished pigs entered.
SHEEP (1251) - Auctioneer: Nick Young
MILK LAMBS (264)
Overall average 153.37p per kilo
Trade is where it is. Looking on the bright side it is surprising it has not fallen further.
The connoisseurs (of whom there are many) tell us our trade was good by
comparison, although it certainly doesn’t feel like it. Who knows what the future holds.
Our very firm advice is make them as good as you possibly can. Plenty of big weights
on offer. The optimum weight range is around the 42/44 kilo mark.
Leading prices per head:- JD Winstanley £74, FG Coles £72.50, £70, M Brett £71,
HJ Cross & Son £71, B Walker £70, D Van Duyne £70 (twice), CD & J Jeffries £70,
J Monnington Farms Ltd £70 (twice), £68, JJ Seller & Partners £69, RJ Miles £68
(twice), J & S Harmer £68.
Leading prices per kg:- D Van Duyne 161.3p, 154.5p, RJ Miles 159.6p, 145.6p,
CD & J Jeffries 157p, J & S Harmer 154.7p, 148.5p, M Brett 153.7p, JJ Seller &
Partners 150.6p, HJ Cross & Son 149.6p, J Monnington Farms Ltd 148.5p, 147.4p,
147.1p, 143.8p, B Walker 147.7p, FG Coles 141.7p.
EWES (217)
Nationally the price is back, Hailsham resisted that trend. Although difficult trading
persists we are not complaining (too much).
FJ Pope £80, £74, M Harding £70, JJ Seller & Partners £68, A Barr £65, £63, £60,
JD Winstanley £61, B Walker £61, D Powell £60, M Harding £60, P Kelly £60.
STORE LAMBS (664)
A veritable humdinger. Great numbers and an excellent show from Hailsham’s top
producers and a very warm reception. It is doubtful that the Hailsham trade can be
bettered, please keep the store lambs coming they really are wanted now by all and
sundry. It is the best trade of the day, week in week out. It is a complex matrix of
factors which makes the store lamb trade. N Bowie £62, £56, JD Winstanley £60,
Plumpton College £59.50, Mrs PM Bignell £59.50, £58, DW Reed £58, R Gorringe £58
(twice), £57, HC Grissell £57, IL Purchase £56.50, CD & J Jeffries £56.50, PT Pike
