Gabriele von Oppenheim
Gabriele Freifrau von Oppenheim est née en Allemagne. Elle a poursuivi ses études en Angleterre où elle
a étudié l’Histoire de l’Art et les Beaux-Arts à l’Université de Londres. Elle a également appris le dessin
industriel à l’Art Center College of Design, en Suisse.
“Gaby“ est l’instigatrice, et l’organisatrice, du “Drive-it Day“ au MAKK, Musée des Arts Appliqués de
Cologne, qui explore l’impact social, technique, culturel et infrastructurel, ainsi que l’influence émotionnelle,
de l’automobile d’hier et d’aujourd’hui.
Sous le pseudonyme de “Gabriele Spangenberg“, elle démarre en 2010 un blog “mealsandwheels“, agenda
Internet sur le thème de la course, des voitures anciennes et de la cuisine. Ce qui l’a conduite à devenir
journaliste pour l’édition allemande du magazine de voitures anciennes Octane. En plus de ses éditoriaux, elle
écrit des reportages sur ses propres expériences en compétition ou ses essais de voitures.
Son initiation à la compétition automobile a été faite au Mans Classic 2008 sur une Porsche ancienne. Elle a
continué depuis à courir très régulièrement. Outre sa Porsche de course, elle possède une O.S.C.A. 2000S et
une Toyota 2000 GT. En 2014, elle a participé pour la première fois à une course moderne à l’occasion des
24 Heures du Nürburgring. Gaby travaille et vit à Cologne avec son mari et leurs deux fils.
Un nouveau challenge pour Gaby sera d’œuvrer comme juge à Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille.
Gabriele Freifrau von Oppenheim was born in Germany. She was educated in Germany and England. She studied Art
History and Fine Arts at the University of London, and Industrial Design at the Art Center College of Design, in
Switzerland.
‘Gaby’ is the Initiator and Organiser of the German “Drive-it Day“ at the MAKK, the Museum of Applied Arts in
Cologne, which explores the social, technical, cultural and infrastructural, as well as emotional influences of the automobile from
yesterday and today.
Using the pseudonym “Gabriele Spangenberg“, she started a blog in 2010 called “mealsandwheels“, an Internet diary about
racing, classic cars and cooking. This led to her becoming an editor at large for the German “Octane“, a magazine about classic
and sports cars. Apart from writing editorials and her own column, she reports on her races and car testings.
Her initiation to racing was Le Mans Classic 2008 in a historic Porsche 911, and she has been racing compulsively ever since.
Apart from her racing Porsche, she owns an O.S.C.A. 2000 S and a Toyota 2000 GT. In 2014, she hasparticipated in the
24H of the Nürburgring, racing a modern car for the first time. She works and lives in Cologne with her husband and their
two sons.
