TERMS AND CONDITIONS
APPLICABLE TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS
■ 1 - ELIGIBILITY
Individuals or organisations, governed either by public or
private law, can open deposit-secured accounts with INPI’s
accounts department (“Agence Comptable de l’INPI”).
Account balances are subsequently debited for the payment of
all set fees and services rendered by INPI.
Account holders are entitled to access all services provided by
INPI, irrespective of the medium chosen (mail, telephone,
telefax, internet...).
■ 2 - OPENING AN ACCOUNT
Accounts may be opened at the Paris offices or at any of the
regional delegations.
To open an account, the accompanying application form
should be completed and signed. An initial pre-payment of at
least 90 Euros is required.
Subsequent deposit amounts will be determined by the
account holder, based on his needs and his contemplated
schedule for crediting the account.
■ 3 - DEPOSITS TO CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS
Deposits to customer accounts are made in Euros. Amounts
deposited in other currencies are converted and then credited to the account at their corresponding value in Euros.
The applicable rate of exchange is the current French Treasury
rate of exchange.
Deposits can be made in the following ways :
- in cash or by credit card at INPI offices,
- by cheque made payable to the Agent Comptable de l'INPI,
■ 4 - ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
Customer accounts are held in Euros.
When a new account is opened, the customer is provided with the
account number. This number should be mentioned in all direct
payment orders and in payments made directly out of the
deposit account. The customer should also clearly mention
items covered by the payment.
Customers are required to ensure that accounts are not
overdrawn. Services can not be provided to customers whose
accounts are overdrawn.
Customers receive at least once a month a detailed statement
summarising all operations conducted for the preceding
period.
The Général Director of INPI or his representative is
empowered to authorise requests for payment out of a
customer account, would the order not be confirmed by
regular mail or by electronic mail with an electronic
signature, or would the fees for the service be different from
those initially indicated to the customer.
■ 5 - ACCOUNT CLOSURE
Accounts may be closed upon written request by the customer
or, where appropriate, those authorised to do so on the
customer’s behalf.
INPI reserves the right to close without prior notice overdrawn
accounts, i.e. accounts not complying with the provisions of
paragraph 3 of the Account Management section.
At closure, any credit balance will be transferred to the account
holder or those entiled to receive such funds on the latter’s
behalf.
