Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist für den Einsatz in einem Cardbus-kompatiblen PCMCIA-Einschub eines PCkompatiblen Notebooks vorgesehen und stellt dort zwei USB2.0-Ports zur Verfügung. Das mitgelieferte Steckernetzteil erzeugt die für die USB-Geräte nötige Betriebsspannung und -strom.

Aus Sicherheits- und Zulassungsgründen (CE) ist das eigenmächtige Umbauen und/oder
Verändern des Produkts nicht gestattet.
Der Aufbau des Produkts entspricht der Schutzklasse 2. Als Spannungsquelle für das
Steckernetzteil darf nur eine ordnungsgemäße Netzsteckdose (230V~/50Hz) des öffentlichen
Versorgungsnetzes verwendet werden.
Geräte, die an Netzspannung betrieben werden, gehören nicht in Kinderhände. Lassen Sie
deshalb in Anwesenheit von Kindern besondere Vorsicht walten.
Gehen Sie vorsichtig mit dem Produkt um - durch Stöße, Schläge oder dem Fall aus bereits
geringer Höhe wird es beschädigt.
Anschluss
• Schalten Sie Ihren Notebook ein und warten Sie, bis das Betriebssystem vollständig geladen ist.
• Verbinden Sie den runden Stecker des mitgelieferten Steckernetzteils mit der zugehörigen
Buchse (zwischen den beiden USB-Buchsen) auf der PCMCIA-Karte.
• Stecken Sie das Steckernetzteil in eine Netzsteckdose (230V~/50Hz).
• Schieben Sie die PCMCIA-Karte in einen PCMCIA-Slot Ihres Notebooks.
• Windows erkennt nun die neue Hardware. Legen Sie den Treiber-Datenträger in das entsprechende Laufwerk Ihres PCs ein und folgen Sie allen Anweisungen.
• Führen Sie danach einen Neustart von Windows durch. Andernfalls könnte es vorkommen,
dass USB-Geräte nicht richtig erkannt werden.
• Nach dem Neustart können Sie an die beiden USB-Ports entsprechende USB-Geräte
anstecken.
Handhabung
Es ist anzunehmen, dass ein gefahrloser Betrieb nicht mehr möglich ist, wenn
- das Gerät sichtbare Beschädigungen aufweist,
- das Gerät nicht mehr funktioniert und
- nach längerer Lagerung unter ungünstigen Verhältnissen oder
- nach schweren Transportbeanspruchungen.
Wenn das Produkt längere Zeit nicht in Betrieb genommen wird, so ziehen Sie das
Steckernetzteil aus der Netzsteckdose.
Vermeiden Sie folgende widrige Umgebungsbedingungen am Aufstellungsort oder beim
Transport:
- Nässe oder zu hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit
- Extreme Kälte oder Hitze
- Staub oder brennbare Gase, Dämpfe oder Lösungsmittel
- starke Vibrationen
- starke Magnetfelder, wie in der Nähe von Maschinen oder Lautsprechern
Achten Sie beim Aufstellen des Produkts darauf, dass die Kabel nicht geknickt oder gequetscht
werden.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Zum Betrieb des PCMCIA-USB2.0-Adapters muss mindestens Windows 98 verwendet werden.
Windows95 (auch die Version, auf deren CD steht "...mit USB-Unterstützung") ist nicht in der
Lage, korrekt mit aktuellen USB-Geräten zusammenzuarbeiten.
• Es ist belanglos, welchen der USB2.0-Ports Sie zuerst benutzen, da die beiden Anschlüsse
gleichberechtigt sind.
• USB-Geräte erlauben das Ein- und Ausstecken während dem Betrieb. Sie brauchen also
nicht Ihren PC ausschalten, wenn Sie Geräte ein- oder ausstecken wollen (bei anderen
Schnittstellen kann dies zu Beschädigungen führen, z.B. wenn Sie eine PS/2-Maus während
dem Betrieb ein- oder ausstecken).
Finden jedoch Datenübertragungen auf dem USB-Port statt, z.B. wenn ein externes Laufwerk
Daten an den PC liefert, und Sie ziehen den USB-Stecker heraus, könnte Windows abstürzen und evtl. auch andere Daten beschädigt werden! Schalten Sie deshalb zuerst den PC ab,
bevor Sie USB-Geräte abstecken oder den PCMCIA-USB2.0-Adapter aus dem PC entfernen.
Wenn in der Menüleiste von Windows ein Pfeilsymbol erscheint (z.B. bei externen USBLaufwerken), so können Sie darüber Windows anweisen, alle offenen Verbindungen/Dateien
zu schließen. Danach kann das USB-Gerät abgesteckt werden.
• Die USB2.0-Ports unterstützen selbstverständlich auch USB1.1. Deshalb können hier auch
herkömmliche "langsame" USB-Geräte angesteckt werden. Schneller werden USB1.1Geräte dabei jedoch nicht.
• Wollen Sie USB2.0-Geräte über einen USB-Hub betreiben, so ist ein USB2.0-Hub erforderlich. Mit einem herkömmlichen USB1.1-Hub funktioniert der High-Speed-Betrieb von USB2.0
nicht. Andernfalls arbeiten am USB1.1-Hub angeschlossene USB2.0-Geräte nur in der
USB1.1-Geschwindigkeit.
• Für einwandfreien USB2.0-Betrieb sind normalerweise keine speziellen "USB2.0-Kabel" erforderlich. Herkömmliche "normale" USB-Kabel reichen vollig aus, allerdings müssen diese
abgeschirmt sein.
Sollten Sie beim Betrieb von USB2.0-Geräten Übertragungsprobleme feststellen, so können
Sie versuchsweise ein USB-Kabel verwenden, das auf USB2.0-Betrieb getestet worden ist
("USB2.0-certified").
• Im abgesicherten Modus von Windows ist kein USB-Betrieb möglich.
USB-Tastaturen und USB-Mäuse funktionieren deshalb normalerweise nicht (evtl. bietet das
BIOS Ihres PCs USB-Unterstützung für eine USB-Tastatur bzw. -Maus).
Dabei kann es jedoch erforderlich sein, dass die USB-Tastatur/-Maus direkt am Notebook/PC
angeschlossen ist und nicht über einen USB-Hub.
• In älteren Notebooks funktioniert die PCMCIA-USB2.0-Karte evtl. nicht (sie wird nicht
erkannt), da sie unbedingt einen PCMCIA-Slot mit 32bit-Cardbus-Unterstützung voraussetzt!
Der Betrieb ist nur in trockenen Innenräumen zulässig.

Prescribed use
The product has been designed for the use in a card bus compatible PCMCIA slot of a PC compatible notebook where it offers two USB2.0 ports. The supplied power supply unit generates
the operating voltage and current required for the USB devices.
There is reason to believe that safe operation has become impossible, if
- the device exhibits visible damages
- the device does not function any more
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or if
- the device was exposed to extraordinary stress caused by transport.
If the product is not used for a longer period of time, pull the power supply unit from the mains
socket.
Avoid the following unfavourable ambient conditions at the place of installation or during the
transport:
- dampness or too high air humidity
- extreme cold and heat
- dust and combustible gases, fumes or solvents
- strong vibrations
- strong magnetic field near machines and loudspeakers, for example.
Ensure not to kink or squash the cables during the installation of the product.

Tips & notes
• For operating the PCMCIA USB2.0 adapter you must use at least Windows 98.
Windows95 (even the version with the CD on which is written "... USB supported") is not able
to cooperate correctly with current USB devices.
Characteristics
• It does not make any difference which port of the USB2.0 ports you use first since both connections have equal rights.
• Card bus compatible
(no function in older notebooks with PC card PCMCIA slot)
• Two USB2.0 ports (downward compatible to USB1.1)
• Power supply by means of an external power supply unit
• USB devices can be plugged and unplugged during operation. Consequently, you do not have
to turn off your PC if you want to plug or unplug devices (with other interfaces this may cause
damages, e.g. if you plug or unplug a PS/2 mouse during operation).
Safety instructions
In case of damages which are caused due to failure to observe these operating instructions, the guarantee will expire.
We do not assume liability for resulting damages.
If, however, there is data transmission taking place on the USB port, e.g. if an external drive
is transmitting data to the personal computer and you are pulling the USB plug, Windows
may crash and other data may be damaged, too. For this reason, please switch off the PC
before you unplug USB devices or before you remove the PCMCIA USB2.0 adapter from the
PC.
The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of
safety and approval reasons (CE).
If an arrow sign appears in the menu bar of Windows (e.g. with external USB drives), you can
instruct Windows with that to close all open connections/files. After that the USB device can
be unplugged.
The structure of the product complies with safety class II. The power supply unit is only
approved for being connected to a proper mains socket (230V~/50Hz) of the public supply
network.
• The USB2.0 ports also support USB1.1. For this reason it is also possible to connect here traditional "slow” USB devices but the USB1.1 devices do not get faster.
Keep devices that are operated by means of mains voltage out of reach of children. Especially
in the presence of children the utmost caution is advised.
• If you want to operate USB2.0 devices by means of an USB hub, you have to use a USB2.0
hub. The USB2.0 high speed operation does not function with a traditional USB1.1 hub.
Otherwise the USB2.0 devices connected to the USB1.1 hub only work with USB1.1 speed.
Handle the product with care – if it is exposed to shocks and impacts or if it falls down, the
product is damaged.
• Usually there are no special "USB2.0 cables " required for a correct USB2.0 operation.
Traditional "normal” USB cables are absolutely sufficient but they must be shielded.
If you observe transmission problems when operating USB2.0 devices, you can use, as a trial,
a USB cable which has been tested for USB2.0 operation ("USB2.0-certified").
Connection
• Turn on your notebook and wait until the operating system is completely loaded.
• Connect the round connector of the supplied power supply unit to the relevant jack (between
the two USB jacks) on the PCMCIA card.
• Plug the power supply unit into a mains socket (230V~/50Hz).
• Slide the PCMCIA card into a PCMCIA slot of your notebook.
• Now Windows detects the new hardware. Put the driver data carrier into the relevant drive
of your PC and follow all instructions.
• Restart Windows, otherwise the USB devices may not be detected properly.
• After the restart you can connect the relevant USB devices to the two USB ports.
• The fused mode of Windows allows no USB operation.
For this reason, USB keyboards and USB mice normally do not function (maybe the BIOS of
your PC gives USB support for a USB keyboard or mouse).
Maybe it is necessary to connect the USB keyboard/mouse directly to the notebook/PC and
not to a USB hub.
• Maybe the PCMCIA USB2.0 card does not function in older notebooks (it is not detected) as
it requires a PCMCIA slot with 32bit card bus support.
Handling
The product is only authorised for the use in dry rooms.
Leave the product switched off until it has reached room temperature which may take
several hours.
Lassen Sie das Produkt zuerst uneingeschaltet auf Zimmertemperatur kommen. Dies
kann u.U. mehrere Stunden dauern.
Make sure that the insulation of the complete product is neither damaged nor destroyed. Do
not open the housing.
Maintenance and repair work must be carried out by a qualified workshop.
Achten Sie darauf, dass die Isolierung des gesamten Produkts weder beschädigt noch zerstört
wird. Das Gehäuse darf nicht geöffnet werden!
Eine Wartung oder Reparatur darf nur duch eine Fachwerkstatt durchgeführt werden.
Falls Sie Beschädigungen feststellen, so darf das Produkt NICHT an die
Netzspannung angeschlossen werden! Es besteht Lebensgefahr!
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold into a warm room.
Condensation water that forms may destroy the product.
Verwenden Sie das Produkt niemals gleich dann, wenn es von einem kalten in einen warmen
Raum gebracht wird. Das dabei entstehende Kondenswasser kann unter Umständen das
Produkt zerstören.
Überprüfen Sie vor jedem Gebrauch das Produkt auf Beschädigungen!
Always make sure that the product is not damaged before you use it.

Utilisation prévue
Ce produit est prévu pour être utilisé dans une baie PCMCIA d’un ordinateur portable Notebook
compatible à un PC et y met à disposition deux ports USB2.0. L’adaptateur secteur contenu
dans l’emballage produit la tension et le courant de service nécessaires pour les appareils USB.

• Cédérom avec pilote (il est possible qu’une disquette soit livrée à la place du CD)
• Mode d’emploi
Caractéristiques
• Compatible à un Cardbus (cette fonction n'est pas disponible sur les portables (Notebook)
plus âgés avec baie carte PC-PCMCIA).
• Deux ports USB2.0 (compatible vers le bas à USB1.1)
• Alimentation en courant au moyen d’un adaptateur secteur externe

En cas de dommages dus à la non observation de ce mode d’emploi, la validité de la garantie est annulée !

Pour des raisons de sécurité et d’homologation (CE), il est interdit de modifier la construction
ou de transformer ce produit soi-même !
La construction du produit correspond à la classe de protection 2. Comme source de tension
seule une prise de courant homologuée (230V/50Hz) du réseau de distribution publique doit
être utilisée.
Les appareils fonctionnant sous tension, ne sont pas faits pour les enfants. Soyez donc extrêmement prudent en présence d’enfants.
Soyez prudent lors du maniement du produit – chocs, coups et chutes même d’une faible hauteur provoquent un endommagement.
Branchement
• Mettez votre portable en route et attendez que le système d’exploitation soit complètement
chargé.
• Branchez la prise ronde de l’adaptateur secteur joint à la douille de la carte PCMCIA (se trouve entre les deux douilles USB).
• Branchez l’adaptateur secteur dans une prise de courant (230V~/50Hz).
• Introduisez la carte PCMCIA dans un slot PCMCIA de votre portable notebook.
• Maintenant Windows reconnaît le nouveau matériel. Placez le/la disque/disquette pilote dans
le lecteur de disquettes de votre PC et suivez toutes les instructions.
• Ensuite, redémarrez Windows. Sinon, il est possible que les appareils USB ne soient pas
reconnus correctement.
• Après le redémarrage, vous pouvez connecter les appareils USB correspondants aux deux
ports USB.
Maniement
Une utilisation sans danger n'est plus possible si
- le produit présente des dommages visibles
- l’appareil ne fonctionne plus et
- après un long stockage dans des conditions défavorables, ou
- après des conditions de transport défavorables.
Si le produit n’est pas mis en service pendant longtemps, débranchez la prise du secteur.
Evitez les conditions suivantes contraires au bon fonctionnement du produit à son endroit de
montage ou lors du transport:
- mouillé ou dans une humidité relative de l’air trop élevée,
- froideur ou chaleur extrême
- la poussière ou des gaz, vapeurs ou solutions inflammables,
- soumis à de fortes vibrations.
- de forts champs magnétiques, comme à la proximité de machines ou de haut-parleurs.
Veillez lors du montage du produit à ce que les câbles ne soient ni pliés ni coincés.
Trucs & astuces
• Pour le service de l’adaptateur PCMCIA-USB2.0, une version de Windows 98 au moins doit
être utilisée.
Windows95 (même la version contenant l’indication "avec support USB" sur le cédérom)
n'est pas en mesure de travailler correctement avec des appareils USB récents.
• Il est sans importance quel port USB2.0 vous utilisez en premier puisque les deux connexions
sont équivalentes.
• Il est possible de connecter ou de déconnecter des appareils USB2.0 pendant le fonctionnement. Vous n’avez donc pas besoin d’éteindre votre PC si vous voulez brancher ou débrancher ces appareils (sur d’autres interfaces, ceci peut conduire à un endommagement, par
ex. si vous dé/branchez une souris PS/2 pendant le fonctionnement du PC).
Par contre, si une transmission de données est encore en cours sur le port USB, par ex, si
un lecteur externe est en train de livrer des données au PC, et vous débranchez la fiche USB,
Windows pourrait se planter et même d’autres données pourraient être endommagées !
Eteignez donc le PC avant de débrancher des appareils USB ou avant de retirer l’adaptateur
PCMCIA-USB2.0 du PC.
Si le symbole d’une flèche apparaît dans la barre de menu de Windows (par ex. pour des lecteurs USB externes) vous pouvez l’utiliser pour dire à Windows de fermer toutes les
connexion/fiches ouvertes. Ensuite l’appareil USB peut être débranché.
• Les ports USB2.0 prennent bien sûr le USB1.1 en charge. Il est donc aussi possible d’y
connecter des appareils USB « lents ». Les appareils USB1.1 n’en deviennent cependant pas
plus rapides pour autant.
• Si vous désirez utiliser des appareils USB2.0 via un hub USB, il faut impérativement prendre un hub USB2.0.
Avec un hub USB1.1, le fonctionnement haute vitesse « High-Speed » de USB2.0 ne marche
pas. Les appareils USB2.0 connectés au hub USB1.1 ne fonctionnent donc qu’à la vitesse
USB1.1.
• Pour un fonctionnement USB2.0 irréprochable, des "câbles USB2.0" spéciaux ne sont normalement pas nécessaires.
Des câbles USB "normaux" suffisent à condition qu’ils soient blindés.
Au cas où vous constateriez des problèmes de transmission sur des appareils USB 2.0,
essayez d’utiliser un câble USB dont le fonctionnement sur USB 2.0 (" USB2.0- certified") a
été testé.
• Le mode de sauvegarde de Windows ne permet pas le fonctionnement USB.
Les claviers et souris USB ne fonctionnent donc normalement pas (éventuellement le BIOS
de votre PC offre un soutien USB pour un clavier ou une souris USB).
Pour ceci, il peut cependant être nécessaire de brancher le clavier/la souris USB directement
au Notebook/PC et pas à travers un hub USB.
• Dans des notebooks plus anciens, la carte PCMCIA-USB2.0 ne fonctionne éventuellement
pas (elle n’est pas reconnue), parce qu'elle nécessite impérativement un slot PCMCIA avec
prise en charge Cardbus 32bit.
Le produit ne doit être utilisé que dans des pièces sèches en intérieur.
Ne mettez jamais votre chargeur immédiatement en marche quand il vient d’être déplacé d’une pièce froide dans une pièce chaude. L’eau de condensation qui en résulte pourrait, dans
des conditions défavorables, détruire l’appareil.
Laissez l’appareil non connecté prendre la température ambiante. Ceci peut éventuellement prendre plusieurs heures.
Veillez à ce que l’isolation du produit entier ne soit ni endommagée ni détruite. Le boîtier ne
doit pas être ouvert.
Seul un atelier spécialisé doit effectuer des travaux de maintien ou de réparation.
Vérifiez avant chaque utilisation si le produit est endommagé.
Au cas où vous constateriez des endommagements, le produit NE DOIT PAS
être branché au réseau. Il y a danger de mort.
