And reviews say
13 Sonates pour clavecin de Domenico Scarlatti.
Intrada INTRA025
“This performance as melodic as sensual, signed by a great continuist who we
finally discover in his repertoire as a soloist, it is a wonderful invention of
freedom and insolent mastery” Le Monde de la Musique, may 2006
R9Classica
“Figueiredo brings back all Scarlatti frantic rhythm, the rhythm of his dances, his
flameco influence, his Andalusian sun, respecting always its metric and
classicism sense. At the same time, Nicolau moves the audience with both
styles: on his slow sonatas, which are the main part of his program and also
with more joyful pieces performed with a very incisive rhythm. With Figueiredo
we savour the clave magnificent sonority, transparent, living large room for
sonority, with very talkative highs and a well spiced temper…. He arises al the
theatre and violence kept in Scarlatti music, taking us to mysterious and
wonderful landscapes. He is very good.
