Berlin is one of the top locations in Europe
for games development. About 1,500 companies with 10,000 employees achieve a
turnover of one billion Euro per year. The
games industry is one of the top flourishing
economic sectors. Besides that the games
sector is a cutting edge innovation booster
for other fields.
More than 35 million people in Germany play
video games and the audience is growing
steadily. Free-to-play games, Industrial Gaming and Virtual Reality are on the rise.
Last year, Berlin attracted 2,1 billion Euro in
venture capital, more than any other city in
Europe. The state of Berlin promotes the
games industry through a variety of programs – with venture capital, subsidies,
business support and joint presentations.
Berlin stands for developers, publishers and
service providers of any kind. More and
more companies from abroad are opening
offices here. They do so for a good reason.
They find an excellent eco system with dense networks and a highly skilled workforce.
The region of Berlin-Brandenburg is one of
Europe’s leading locations for digital business. This can also be seen in the media
location Babelsberg, a breeding ground for
creativity and technological innovations, including new digital technologies for production and distribution as well as Virtual Reality
technologies. Cornelia Yzer
Albrecht Gerber
Senator for Economics, Technology and Research
Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy
of the Berlin Government
of the federal state of Brandenburg
Virtual Reality will lead to totally new applications in manufacturing and in the services
industry, raising new economic possibilities.
I am convinced that media companies will
make use of this opportunity. They can be
certain that the state government will support them.

Gaming-Aid – social responsibilty from within
the games industry!
Gaming-Aid is the first and only German
games related charity founded in 2013 by
various games industry members. We prove that »social responsibility« is not just a
phrase, but actually works, if many people
and companies unite. With their support,
we have been able to support scientists in
their research to fight cancer, forstered a
developer to build an app to educate kids
afflicted by cystic fibrosis, took care of suffering families of suddenly deceased members inside the industry, donated a lot of
hard- and software to clinics or other social
institutions and much more.
Since its foundation more than 180.000 €
of donations have been gathered. Hand
in hand with famous German streamers
from Youtuber and Twitch – like Gronkh &
Pietsmiet – Gaming-Aid stands to benefit
from the stream »Friendly Fire«, which generated the biggest donation amount ever
generated by a Twitch event in Germany:
103.000 € in just 12 hours.
Together we are strong – join us today!
