23 May 2013 Günter Geyer was granted important award by Slovak President Günter Geyer, Chairman of the Managing Board of Wiener Städtischer Versicherungsverein – the main shareholder of Vienna Insurance Group – was granted the “Medal of the President of the Slovak Republic” by Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič. By bestowing this honour on Mr. Geyer, President Ivan Gašparovič acknowledged his personal contribution to the economic development of Slovakia, in particular to the outstanding performance of the insurance industry. The award ceremony took place at the President’s Palace in Bratislava on 20 May 2013. In 2004 Mr. Geyer was given the “Golden Medal of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry” for his engagement in Slovakia. Furthermore, he was awarded the “Mayor’s Award of the City of Bratislava” in 2007 and an honorary doctorate of the University of Economics in Bratislava in 2012. In his capacity as the Managing Director of Wiener Städtischer Versicherungsverein, Mr. Günter Geyer is responsible for the social and cultural activities as well as for fundamental strategic issues of Vienna Insurance Group, which he has headed for more than ten years.
