Sunday, October 5, 2014, 5 PM
at The SAGA School
11010 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, Washington
German National Anthem
Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Für das Deutsche Vaterland;
Danach lasst uns alle streben
Brüderlich mit Herz und Hand!
Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Sind des Glückes Unterpfand.
Blüh im Glanze dieses Glückes
Blühe Deutsches Vaterland
God Bless America
God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above
From the mountains to the prairies,
To the ocean white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home
United States National Anthem
Oh say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thru the night that our flag was still there.
Oh say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

October sixth marks the day when, by proclamation of the President of the
United States, we will celebrate German American Day all across this country.
This day is to commemorate the first immigrants from Germany and to pay
tribute to every immigrant who has arrived on these shores since. It is to remind us how deeply our two countries’ cultures are intertwined and what role
German immigrants have played in shaping this nation over the centuries.
This is a day to say Thanks for how we have been received and accomodated
by this nation, for how we have been allowed to grow and prosper and make
our own way.
To highlight this special occasion, the program will include some reflective
historical comments and musical entertainment.
