Kornbrennerei distillery are flowing
right next door in the courtyard of the
country estate. To complement what’s
on offer for those who like to travel first
class, there is also a small, exclusive
castle spa, which has been designed
as an oasis of wellbeing.
The golf school on the Hardenberg
estate is also renowned: led by Stefan Quirmbach, 5-star Professional,
Master Professional and President
of the PGA of Germany, the school
offers eight covered teeing areas, two
video booths with SCOPE analysis,
and a driving range for eighty players, plus four chipping, bunking and
pitching greens. It also offers a magnificent view of the 18th green of the
Göttingen course from Sachsenross,
the half-timbered club building. Masterminded by Donald Harradine and
German architect Dr Wolfgang Siegmann, the course has been designed
completely with sport in mind: it gradually creeps uphill and downhill over
a distance of 6,033 meters. The Lower
Saxony course is also set against a
beautiful landscape, with romantic
meadow orchards, beautiful old trees,
and a canyon. The “signature hole” is
the par-three 11th, which incorporates
the Hardenberg ancestral coat of arms
into the landscape, so you’re literally
golfing on a wild boar’s head.
