Ambassadeur de France en Namibie / Ambassador of France in Namibia
Présidente du Conseil d’administration du CCFN / Chairperson of the FNCC Board
W
inter is slowly coming to an end just as the two–month
celebration of the 25th anniversary of the FNCC is drawing
to a close. However, the activities of the center for the
period to come will not slow down!
Concerts, exhibitions, cinema and the 5th European Film Festival,
conferences on the COP21, Grass Roots Slam Poetry, Second–
Hand Market, Dancing cocktails, storytelling for children! We
will propose a dense, interesting and vibrant cultural and
intellectual calendar.
I would like to draw your attention on a few important days:
From 5 to 12 October, the Center will participate in the film
festival of the Namibia EUNIC Network, in cooperation with the
cultural centers and the embassies of the five other countries
of the EU present in Windhoek. This year’s topic, on migrants,
will interest movie-lovers as much as it will raise awareness
among the viewers on this topic.
On September 27th and October 25th, we will have two Park
Talks on COP21 topics. The funding of renewable energies and
The migratory effects linked to climate change. It should be
noted that the movie Demain (Tomorrow) which deals with
climate change and co–produced by the French Agency for
Development, will be broadcasted following the conference
of September.
In September, the FNCC will hold its board meeting, particularly
important for this session, as the new members will attend this
meeting, among them the new co–president, Honourable Mister
Nahas Angula, former Prime Minister of Namibia, who honoured
us by accepting this role.
This same month of September, I will inaugurate the new Campus
France space of the FNCC, which will allow Namibian students
who want to pursue higher education in France to receive advice to
prepare in the best way the discovery of France and its University
offer, one of the widest and most complete in the world!
The FNCC continues its reorganization, strengthening its
fundamental base, always proposing more services to meet
the needs of its public and to attract a new one, which makes it
even more attractive and interesting: proof of this are the very
good results regarding the registrations in French classes, and
the rise in attendance at all of our events.
PAGE 1
We do a lot to bring you the best! We count on your active
presence in numbers to our events: you are the success of
the FNCC!
Culturellement Vôtre !
Culturally yours.

Contemporary dance is a dance performance genre that
developed during the mid–twentieth century and has since
grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally
trained dancers throughout the world. First Rain Dance Theatre
has been training dancers in contemporary dance for the last
five years and will be bringing their expertise to the FNCC.
Come join the First Rain Dance Theatre team, headed by award–
winning choreographer Haymich Olivier and international dance
sensation Tulimelila Shityuwete, as they give the public the

of basic contemporary dance techniques, contact improvisation,
some basic choreographies as well as performances.

The Art of Ama Ata Aidoo celebrates an acclaimed Pan–African
feminist, poet, playwright and novelist and provides a
fascinating insight into her life. The film is an important
resource for students and teachers of African literature, as
well as lovers of African women’s writing everywhere.
By celebrating one woman’s contribution to Africa’s
Renaissance The Art of Ama Ata Aidoo will inspire others to
be equally courageous.
screenings / PROJECTIONS Acoustic Friday
screenings / PROJECTIONS Mrs. Gallienne, a rather temperamental upper middle–class
lady, has three children, two of whom she considers as her
sons and another she calls Guillaume. Logically indeed, the
latter teenage creature does not picture himself as a boy, rather
as a girl or at best as a homosexual. But how can a mother act
in such an objectionable way? And why? Through a series of
painful chain of experiences, Guillaume will discover little by
little who he is actually and will manage to break free from her
pernicious influence.
