Canyoning
Diving, sliding, scrambling… Some rivers like the Tapoul which runs down the
Mont Aigoual, the Rieutord or the Chassezac on the Mont Lozère, with their
natural pools and waterfalls are suitable for the practice of canyoning.
Our instructors (qualified guides) all know very well those aquatic environments and will provide high quality equipments (wetsuit, helmets, …).

Climbing
Thanks to its amazing landscape, the area offers you dozens of
natural sites (mostly limestone cliffs) : the Gorges du Tarn and
of the Jonte, but also the more hidden chaos of granite on the
Mont Lozère. Qualified instructors will supervise your course.

Climbing—Via Ferrata
Via ferratas
6 routes have been fitted out in Lozère to
provide free access to anyone with the right
equipment. For the sake of all and whatever
the level of the climber safety rules need
to be respected.

Personal equipment :
- The harness : Rather choose an adjustable
climbing harness
- The helmet : A good protection for you head is compulsory in case of stone falls and of roll over .
- The Shoes : Good trainers can do. But good quality trailing shoes will hold your ankles better and protect from rolling
stones. Rubber soles rather than plastic ones will prevent from skidding.
- The karabiners : with a wide opening and an automatic twist-lock.
- A dynamic rope which absorbs energy is compulsory, any other rope is strictly forbidden. It is recommanded to have
a short rope which will allow you to rest by getting nearer to the cable.
As a progressive-tear energy absorber is not fitted for people of less than 40 kg, a dynamic rope must be used to link
climbers.L'absorbeur n'est pas adapté pour des personnes d'un poids inférieur à 40 kg, prévoir une corde dynamique
pour relier les pratiquants.
- Climbing pack with food and drink.
- First aid pack (with aspirin and the necessary to »wrap up » a wound ».
Guides :
A novice in climbing needs help for his first steps in a Via Ferrata. Hiring a professional guide is highly recommended.
Age to practice :
All the 6 via ferratas equipped in Lozère are forbidden to children under 6. Children
under 12 have to be accompanied.

Location : from Florac, take the RD907 to Vébron, then take the road to Rousses.
Pedestrian access : from the car park of Rousses take the RD18 on 1,2 km to Massevaques.
The via ferrata is located down the RD18 and follows the river.

Rental of only specific items
Location : from Florac, take the D16 road to the « Col de la Pierre Plate » (about 5 km). Car
park on the right 150 meters after the Col. Marked pedestrian access (around 30 minutes :
climb from the path to the aerial, follow the ledges of the Causse.
N.B. : The use of the carpark is compulsory. The departure is within the heart of the National
Park, any motorized circulation is strictly forbidden.
