2014 PUREBRED ARABIAN SALE
THE CATALOGUE IS ONLINE
Ideally held on the eve of the prestigious Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend as well as the
Qatar Arabian World Cup, richest purebred Arabian race in the world, the purebred Arabian sale
organised by ARQANA in partnership with AFAC will take place on Thursday 2 October at SaintCloud from 2 PM. The catalogue is made up of 93 hand picked lots which have been separated into
five sections. This new edition will offer two innovations, in that one section will be dedicated to
endurance horses and the other to the sale of purebred Arabian stallions from France-Haras for both
racing and endurance.
Two year olds
The two year old contingent includes a selection of 44 very well bred young horses by highly sought
after stallions such as: Akbar, Akim de Ducor, Amer, Dahess, Dormane, Kerbella, Madjani, Majd Al
Arab, Monsieur Al Maury, Munjiz, Njewman.
Those worth a mention include:
- CIRCE DU PAON (lot 1, presented by Ecurie Yann Creff), a Madjani half sister to Nymphea
du Paon, who won no less than three Group races including the Prix Nevada II (Gr.2 PA) at
Toulouse;
- AVONMOUTH (lot 8, consigned by the Haras du Berlais), a son of Cambrydge out of the
excellent racemare Anastasya, who twice won at Gr.1 PA level and has become a first rate
broodmare. Indeed, her second offspring Dubai Heros (Amer) won the Coupe de France des
Chevaux Arabes (Gr.1 PA) at Chantilly at three and finished third in the Prix Kesberoy (Gr.1
PA) at Deauville;
- Lots 11, 31 and 41 consigned by the Haras de Saint Faust. The first named SOROUR DE
FAUST is a Munjiz half-brother to Cambrydge, winner of the Prix Damas (Gr.3 PA) and
third in the French Arabian Breeders’ Challenge and the Coupe d’Europe des Chevaux Arabes
(Grs.1 PA). The second CYRUS DE FAUST (lot 31) is a Njewman half brother to Izabella,
winner of the French Arabian Breeder’s Cup (Gr.1 PA) at Saint-Cloud and the Prix Razzia III
(Gr.3 PA) at La Teste de Buch. The last named NIRIAM (lot 41) up is a result of the highly
sought after cross between Akbar and Nirondelle who is none other than a full sister to Nez
d'Or, Noreen, Nisaee and Nirwani, a family rich in black type and the dam of Nhir, who won
at Gr.3 PA level;
- L’EAU DU GANGE (lot 13, presented by the Haras du Moulin), a full brother to Divamer,
winner of the Prix Tidjani (Gr.3 PA) at La Teste de Buch. Jean-Pierre Totain also consigns lot
20, QUEZAKEAU, a Majd Al Arab half brother to d’Eauvation des Cèdres who finished third
in the Prix de l’Elevage (Gr.2 PA) at Toulouse;
- HABSHAN LA RIVIERE (lot 22, presented by SARL Al Qardabiyah) an Akbar half brother
to the Group winners Dorfa, Fehra and Fadjik;
- ZAABA and MOWEN DE PIBOUL (lots 37 and 38 consigned by the Haras du Saubouas on
behalf of Béarn Arabians), two very well bred horses by Akbar and Madjani, from the
prestigious Piboul family.
Breeding stock and yearlings
After the two year olds, 16 breeding prospects will go through the ring including one stallion (lot 61),
8 mares, 5 yearlings and 2 foals by Mahaab and Nashwan Al Khalidiah.
Mares
The Haras de Mandore presents a contingent of particularly well bred mares including:

MLAIKA (lot 49), the full sister to Gr.1 PA winner Djourdan. Consigned in foal to Nizam,
her progeny includes Nerbah, winner of the Prix Dormane (Gr.3 PA);
MENDRA (lot 52) comes from a very good family. Indeed she is a full sister to the Gr.3 PA
winner Sousof and her dam is none other than a full sister to the incomparable chef de race
Dormane. She has already produced black type horses such as Mestor, winner of the Abu
Dhabi 3yo Championship (Gr.1 PA) and Manark who is a Gr.2 PA winner and Gr.1 PA
placed. She is presented in foal to Mahabb (last service date 4 June);
Béarn Arabians also presents two very well bred broodmares. Lot 51, MADONE DE PIBOUL, by
Dormane out of Magreba de Piboul and lot 53, MASOUALA DE PIBOUL by Madjani out of Mona
Lisa de Piboul, both from a superb family. They are consigned in foal to No Risk Al Maury and Baseq
Al Khalediah.
Yearlings

Lot 56, H DES FORGES is the first offspring by Dahess out of Djamaa des Forges who is
from a family rich in black type. He is presented by the Haras des Forges;
Lot 60, NIRJOLI, a yearling colt by Munjiz, presented by the Haras de Saint Faust, is from
the talented family of Nirondelle.
Horses in training
Twelve horses in the care of the best purebred Arabian trainers in France will go through the ring such
as:
- MAYASA, (lot 81). A worthy representatives of a family rich in black type, this Majd Al
Arab half sister to the Gr.1 PA winner Rich Frynchman already has two wins and five places
in just eight starts, including a second place on August 22 this year in the Prix Nevadour (Gr.3
PA) just three lengths behind her training companion Loraa, winner of the Qatar Arabian
Trophy des Pouliches (Gr.1 PA). Now aged four she is in training with Jean-François
Bernard;
- BONY DES VIALETTES (lot 87). Also trained by Jean-François Bernard, this three-year-old
daughter of Kerbella recently won on 25 August this year at Castéra-Verduzan;
- MELODIE DU SOLEIL (lot 79). Placed in the care of Thomas Fourcy, this daughter of
Munjiz who is still unraced has a beautiful pedigree. Her dam Dormah de Brugère made her
mark at the highest level, winning seven races including the Jumeirah International Stakes and
the Arabian International Stakes (Grs.2 PA) and finishing placed four times at Gr.1 PA level;
Purebred Arabian stallions for racing and endurance from France-Haras
In the context of the France-Haras dispersal, their purebred Arabian racing and endurance stallions
will go through the ring. Frozen semen samples will also be offered for sale. They will be sold
independently with no usage constraints linked to the stallions. Standouts among these ten lots
include:

AKBAR (lot 66) and KERBELLA (lot 67), two stallions responsible for numerous winners
such as Akim de Ducor, Djainka des Forges, Quaolina as well as Seraphin du Paon. Frozen
semen samples will also be available for sale.
Lot 70, a stock of 239 frozen semen samples from the incomparable chef de race DORMANE,
sire of a multitude of winners.
Lot 65, a stock of 115 frozen semen samples from DJARNI DES FORGES. After a second
place in the Prix du Président des UAE, this son of Tidjani and of Djari des Forges has most
notably produced Izabella, winner of the French Arabian Breeders’ Cup (GR.1 PA) and the
Prix Razzia III (Gr.3 PA) at La Teste de Buch.
On the endurance stallion side, the following lots will also go through the ring: NABATH (lot 69),
SADEPERS (lot 63), MELFIK D’ALAUZE (lot 64), SAAD D’ALIZ (lot 68), AKIM (lot 71) and EL
HADJ D’ALAUZE (lot 62).
Endurance horses
In this section specially dedicated to endurance horses notable lots include:

TOUFKA LA MAJORIE (lot 93, consigned by the Haras de Majorie). This seven year old
gelding with a great pedigree is the result of a mating between the very good Naswan and
Oufka La Majorie, an endurance race winner. A winner at six he has just put up a great
performance on his first start at CEI*level. The Haras de Majorie also presents lot 92,
BAZOOKA LA MAJORIE, a three year old colt by Baltik des Ors out of Kaola du Faubourg,
a very good second in the National * at Messey-sur-Grosne.
AZARO DE HIAT (lot 90). This four year old gelding is none other than a half brother by the
excellent Branik to Rais Larzac, winner of the six year old final at Uzes and third in the CEI
** /120 km at Chavanay, as well as to Satanik Larzac, Champion six year old over 90 km at
Uzès and third in the CEI ** over 120 km at Windsor. He is consigned by Elite Endurance
Horse Ltd & EARL MG.
