Welcome to
Cégep Heritage College
Cégep Heritage College is the only public,
tuition-free, Anglophone CEGEP in Western
Quebec. Our state-of-the-art facilities are located
in Gatineau, just ten minutes from downtown
Ottawa, in the heart of the National Capital
Region, bordering scenic Gatineau Park.
We offer 2-year Pre-University programs that
prepare you for further university studies, and
3-year Career programs for immediate entry into
the labour force or further university studies. Both
types of programs lead to a Diploma of College
Studies (DEC). Also, our innovative Centre for
Continuing Education offers programs leading
to Attestations of College Studies (AEC), as
well as professional, personal and corporate
training, courses and workshops, held on campus
(Gatineau and Campbell’s Bay) or at your
business location, days, evenings and weekends.
Program Overview
The Liberal Arts Pre-University program
investigates the role that literature, science,
religion, philosophy and art have played in
shaping Western culture. Students learn how to
integrate knowledge from a variety of disciplines
in historical context, from Ancient Greek times
up to today.
Education Path
General Admission Requirements
Graduates from the Liberal Arts program are well
prepared to succeed in university programs and
in careers in public administration, the arts, law,
journalism, education and publishing. Liberal Arts
graduates will broaden their own educational
choices at the university level through familiarity
with the:
A secondary school diploma (D.E.S.) or (D.E.P.)
or its equivalent including:
• History of western civilization since
ancient times;
• Specific world views of various eras—in the
context of their historical development;
• Major philosophical and religious ideas of
the western world;
• Traditions and their impact on
western societies;
• Nature of philosophical pursuit;
• Development of the natural sciences
• Major literary forms and themes in
English literature;
• Development of human imaginative,
artistic and religious expression;
• Interrelation of the major fields of
human knowledge.

Cégep Heritage College
leur contexte historique, de l’Antiquité grecque
à nos jours.
Le Cégep Heritage College est le seul cégep
public anglophone situé dans l’ouest du Québec.
Ses installations à la fine pointe se trouvent à
Gatineau, à seulement dix minutes du centreville d’Ottawa, au cœur de la région de la
capitale nationale, près du pittoresque parc de
la Gatineau.
Parcours d’études
Le Collège offre des programmes préuniversitaires
de deux ans qui vous préparent aux études
universitaires, ainsi qu’un programme d’études
professionnelles de trois ans qui vous permet
d’entrer directement sur le marché du travail ou
de poursuivre des études universitaires. Les
deux programmes mènent à un diplôme d’études
collégiales (DEC). De plus, notre centre novateur
de formation continue offre des programmes
permettant d’obtenir une attestation d’études
collégiales (AEC), ainsi que des cours et des
ateliers de formation personnelle, professionnelle,
et destinée aux entreprises, le jour, le soir et la
fin de semaine, soit sur le campus (Gatineau et
Campbell’s Bay), soit en entreprise.
Présentation du programme
Le programme préuniversitaire en Histoire et
civilisation porte sur le rôle de la littérature, de la
science, de la religion, de la philosophie et des
arts dans l’évolution de la culture occidentale.
Les étudiants apprennent à intégrer des
connaissances sur plusieurs matières dans
Les diplômés du programme en Histoire et
civilisation sont bien préparés à réussir à
l’université et dans des carrières en administration
publique, en arts, en droit, en journalisme, en
éducation et en édition. Ils élargissent leurs choix
potentiels à l’université en ayant intégré des
connaissances sur les sujets suivants:
• Histoire de la civilisation occidentale depuis
l’Antiquité;
• Visions du monde particulières dans divers
domaines – dans le cadre de leur évolution
historique;
• Principales idées philosophiques et
religieuses du monde occidental;
• Traditions et répercussions sur les sociétés
occidentales;
• Nature de la recherche philosophique;
• Évolution des sciences naturelles;
• Principaux thèmes et formes littéraires de la
littérature anglophone;
• Évolution de l’expression humaine
