西欧建築の一大傑作であり、
「西欧の精華」
とも言えるモン・サン・ミシェルは、フラ
ンスが世界に誇るモニュメント・サイトの
一つで、独創性に富み、異質な光を放って
います。周囲約１キロ、高さ８０メートル
のこの小島は、道路と橋によって入り江と
繋がっています。今日に至るまで、廃れる
ことなく受け継がれた千年の伝統が、遠く
から訪れる人々を迎え、月に２回見られる
満潮時の光景は、他に類がありません。
