C-PLY™ utilisé pour la première fois en démonstration « live »
lors du salon K’2013
CHOMARAT, spécialiste en renforts textiles pour composites est partie prenante du projet ‘RTM in mold Coatings’
grâce à sa gamme de renforts carbone NCF étalés.
C-PLY™ Spread intégré dans le projet collaboratif :
« RTM-in mold coatings »
Pour la première fois, est fabriqué en temps réel et en série, un
panneau de toit en carbone pour le roadster Roding durant le salon
K2013. Ce projet innovant est issu d’un partenariat regroupant des
acteurs majeurs de la filière composites, et est placé sous la houlette de
KraussMaffei* .
Cette dernière avancée technologique sur un procédé RTM utilisant un
système PU avec des temps de cycle courts, permet l'obtention de
pièces composites d'aspect en sortie de moule. En effet, l'enjeu associé

Example of +/-45 biaxial (120gsm 50K per layer) à ce procédé est d'obtenir avec le même outillage un aspect de surface
compatible soit avec un design carbone apparent, soit avec une qualité
de surface permettant des peintures classe A, et ce, sans aucune préparation préliminaire ou reprise postérieure.
L’utilisation de C-PLY™ SPREAD en tant que renfort contribue à la réussite de ce projet. C-PLY™ est une gamme de
renforts carbone NCF développée grâce aux dernières technologies d’étalement des fibres. Elle permet d’obtenir
des couches fines parfaitement planes et homogènes limitant l’apparition de microfissures. Sa construction
particulière lui donne la souplesse nécessaire pour le rendre facilement déformable et permet un bon
positionnement dans le moule tout en conservant une bonne perméabilité pour l’injection RTM.
Outre des qualités d’aspect, l’utilisation de C-PLY™SP réduit le coût et le poids des pièces composites en optimisant
les performances.
Les démonstrations live auront lieu sur le stand de KraussMaffei Hall 15, B27/C24/C27/D24
durant le salon K2013,du 16 au 23 octobre à Düsseldorf.

C-PLY™ used for the first time in a "live" demonstration at the K 2013 show
CHOMARAT, which specializes in textile reinforcements for composites, is an active participant in the "RTM in mold
Coatings" project thanks to its line of spread NCF carbon reinforcements.
C-PLY™ Spread integrated into the collaborative project:
"RTM-in mold coatings"
For the first time, a carbon roof panel for the Roding roadster is made
in real time, and mass produced, at the K’2013 show. This innovative
project is the birthchild of a partnership between major players in the
composites field, under the leadership of KraussMaffei*.
This latest technological advancement in an RTM process using a PU
system with short cycle times makes it possible to produce composite
parts with an excellent surface quality directly out of the mold. Indeed,

Example of +/-45 biaxial (120gsm 50K per layer) the challenge of this process is to obtain, with the same tooling, a
surface appearance that is compatible with both a visible carbon design
and a surface quality allowing class A paints without any preliminary preparation or subsequent retouching.
The use of C-PLY™ Spread as a reinforcement contributes to the success of this project. C-PLY™ is a line of NCF
carbon reinforcements developed by means of the latest fiber spread technologies. The line provides perfectly flat
and homogeneous thin layers which limit the occurrence of microcracks. Its special construction gives it the
necessary flexibility to make it readily deformable, and allows good positioning in the mold while still maintaining
good permeability for RTM injection.
In addition to its visual qualities, the use of C-PLY™SP reduces the cost and weight of composite parts while
optimizing performance.
Live demonstrations will take place at KraussMaffei Hall 15, B27/C24/C27/D24 during the K’2013 Show
from October 16 to 23, in Düsseldorf.
