PRESS KIT Week 25 Olympique de Marseille - Paris Saint-Germain Date & Time Sunday, February 07, 2016 - 21:00 Stadium Stade Vélodrome 02/05/2016 - Ligue de Football Professionnel - 2015/2016 - Ligue1.com Week 25 Olympique de Marseille - Paris Saint-Germain PREVIEW : OLYMPIQUE DE MARSEILLE - PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN Olympique de Marseille - Paris Saint-Germain Feature Preview Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain meet in Sunday's Classique with the two sides separated by a gulf in the table but aware that form means little in Ligue 1's most explosive fixture. The build-up to the game at the Stade Vélodrome will be jam-packed with all the usual spice as will proceedings on the pitch as French football's most bitter rivals collide for the 37th time on the south coast. OM fans will be approaching the game with more apprehension than anticipation, however, and not only because PSG are unbeaten on their last three visits to the Vélodrome, winning the last two. While PSG have a massive double-digit lead at the top of the table, OM are in seventh, five points off third place, the last position that could provide UEFA Champions League football next season. They have, however, gained momentum in recent weeks, and are unbeaten in their last 11 league outings to slowly edge into contention for a European qualifying spot. That pace did not slow with their midweek win at Montpellier Hérault SC courtesy of Georges-Kévin Nkoudou's second-half strike. "The entry into play of Romain Alessandrini and Florian Thauvin was very important for us - we must also underline the performances from Bouna Sarr and Rabi (Antoine Rabillard) right from the beginning - but the quality of these two lads changed the match," said OM boss Michel after bringing on his two talented attacking midfielders even if he then saw January loan signing Thauvin sent off. "Our first half was poor; we were too imprecise and it was tough to take the upper hand. But we played as well with ten men as we had with eleven." Michel may wish to have a 12th man against Paris, who have reigned supreme over Ligue 1 this season. The defending champions already look set to record a fourth successive title win with a 24-point lead over the rest of the field, and added to their panoply of records with their 3-1 defeat of FC Lorient in midweek, which marked their 33rd league game unbeaten, pipping the previous best set by FC Nantes in the 1990s. "Even if it's a good thing, we did it over two seasons, while the team before us did it in a single season. We're going to enjoy it, but the main thing is another three points in the table. That's a good thing," said Laurent Blanc, who was not entirely happy his team did not seize the intiaitive until the second half at the Parc des Princes. "My feelings on the match are mixed though. Honestly, we could have done better. We reacted more than acted. That hadn't happened to us for a while." They had to react when they met OM earlier this season with Michy Batshuayi giving the visitors the lead at the Parc des Princes before Zlatan Ibrahimovic struck a penalty double to keep the three points in the capital. "It's always a special match," said PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi. "Everyone knows the rivalry that exists between Paris and Marseille, for many reasons, and for me as a Parisian it has a particular flavour. But it's a match that is worth three points, just like the others, and they need them more than we do. So the pressure is really on them."
