SUNSHINE GUIDE TO AUXERRE AND THE CHABLIS REGION, FRANCE
LOCATION: Auxerre is located in north-central France, on the historic trade route from Paris southeast to Dijon. The city is situated astride the River Yonne,
at an elevation of some 325 feet above sea level. It is part of the great Burgundy wine district, with the town of Chablis (and its vineyards) only a few miles to
the east. Auxerre is an attractive town, and a good base from which to explore the delights of the area.

COMMENTS: Bright sunshine is likely on 41% of the daylight hours of the year. This might range from a low of 20% in December, to a high of 52% in July.
The lowest temperature of the year should be close to 11 / on some calm and clear winter sunrise, and the highest should be near 95 / on some sunny and
windless summer afternoon. Sensible temperatures (the ones you actually feel) will be essentially the same as actual ones. The region has a standard midlatitude four-season year, tempered by the prevailing winds from the west off of the North Atlantic Ocean. Summer days are long, moderately cloudy, warm
more often than hot, and wet a bit more often than one day in three. W inter days are short, cloudy, cold and raw. Half the days get rain or snow, with rain the
more common of the two. Snowy spells and spells of frozen ground both occur during the winter, but neither last long. The best weather comes from June
through September.
