Middle School Reading List Summer 2012 Dear Middle School
Middle School Reading List Summer 2012 Dear Middle School Students and Parents, Summer is a great time to relax and read! The English teachers and librarians have compiled this list carefully, combining classics with contemporary novels, a number of which are Newbery Medal‐winners. Parents, we appreciate your support in helping your child find a summer reading routine so that he/she can read at least three novels over the two‐month vacation. Be sure to choose novels that you have not already read. As you read, use post‐it notes or pencil (if it’s your own copy) to note memorable passages in the books. Bring the books with you when we start school in August. Virtually all of these books can be ordered on line from www.amazon.com or www.amazon.fr. (click on “livres en anglais”), or visit one of the English language bookstores in Paris: W.H. Smith Brentanoʹs 248 rue de Rivoli 37 avenue de lʹOpéra 75001 Paris 75002 Paris métro: Opéra métro: Concorde tel: 01.44.77.88.99 tel: 01.42.61.52.50 To find out more about any of these books, go online to the American School of Paris website. ¾ Go to the “Quicklinks” drop down menu and click on the Destiny Library Catalog.

You are not required to read any number of books in particular but the teachers recommend that you read for pleasure and at your own pace and level, over the summer. Even if you’re a complete beginner in French you could explore the magazines or leveled books and see how much you can figure out on your own. If you already have studied French, you will be able to find a suitable book among any of the leveled series listed below. No matter what your level is, if you have a particular interest in sports, computers, etc., then pick up a French specialist magazine in this field and have some fun. Profitez bien de vos vacances. Rendezvous à la rentrée! Cordialement, Lara Baill, Sylvie De Oliveira, Pascale Doyle, Valérie Jackson French as a Foreign Language List (Liste Français Langue Étrangere)
