These classes of polymers have excellent thermal, electrical and mechanical properties and are currently applied in many areas such as aerospace, microelectronics, automotive and gas separation industries as high-temperature coatings, structural adhesives, matrix resins, interlayer dielectrics, wire insulation, semi permeable membranes etc. This has resulted into wide interest in fundamental and applied research on high performance/ high temperature polymers. In recent years, much of the focus in the area of high performance/high temperature polymers is on tailoring polymer structure to give a specific set of properties. The present seminar will highlight our research efforts aimed at synthesizing a series of difunctional monomers such as diamines, bisphenols, diacids, diisocyanates etc. containing special structural features and utilization of these monomers for the synthesis of processable high performance / high temperature polymers such as polyimides, polyamides, polyamideimides, polyesters, polyetherketones, polyethersulfones, etc. References 1) P.
