VISIT...
BEURSPLEIN
In the very heart of Rotterdam lies Beursplein, the city’s bustling shopping centre. Here you can shop 7 days a week and parking is no problem around Beursplein. Below street level on Coolsingel, you will
find the famous Beurstraverse. As well as the Beurstraverse, known
locally as the ‘Koopgoot’, Beursplein shopping centre also includes
the Beursgallery and The Mall.
NOSTRA
Beursplein is characterized by its diversity in all fields. In addition to
all the major designer names and department stores that are amply
represented here, you will also find shops with an amazing variety
of goods.
THE FASHION
DISTRICT
Coffee has been the grand passion of Simon Lévelt ( Beurstraverse
no. 19) for 200 years. Tea and coffee from all corners of the earth are
available here. And that’s not all. Concern for people and the environment receives priority for all its products. A little further you will find
Nubian Queen (Hoogstraat 1227, The Gallery). The best shop if you
are looking for the perfect make-up for a darker skin. During one of
their treatments, you can learn everything about ethnic cosmetics and
experience the warm enthusiasm of all those working at Nubian Queen.
CHIC
Stroll along rows of boutiques and trendy stores, interspersed with
inviting lunchrooms and unique gift shops. In the space of just a few
years, this area between Kruiskade and Van Oldenbarneveltstraat has
evolved into a true Mecca for fashion enthusiasts.
BEURSPLEIN
Hungry? Enjoy one of the famous ice-creams or delicious Luik waffle
of Häagen Dazs Café (no. 65), situated in the heart of the Beurstraverse. An appetizing Italian lunch can be enjoyed at Café Domani in
The Mall. If you are looking for attractive, sporty fashion and underwear, take a look in Björn Borg (Beurspassage no. 11 and 12), while
those seeking more classic clothing can enjoy themselves to their
heart’s content at Gant (Beurspassage 16).

KRUISKADE
What is a woman without a bag? At Bags & the City (no. 97) they are
well aware of this and that is why they stock a wide range of bags,
made from various materials, and matching accessories. Van Dijk
(no. 105) is a dream for the shopper who loves international fashion.
In addition to Wendela van Dijk’s own label, you will find Helmut Lang,
Costume National and Martin Margiela, et cetera. There is a second
branch at number 146. At Roush (no. 93) you can find many Scandinavian labels, such as Bruuns Bazaar and Day. They also stock exclusive
brands like Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs. For famous designers
as Dries van Noten, AF Vandervorst, Comme des Garçons and Martin
Margiela you have to go to Prague (no. 119b). Give your poor feet a
rest at lunchroom Nostra (no. 127a), where you can enjoy a delicious
cappuccino, sandwich or salad, in the company of fellow fashionistas.
Wolford (no. 88) is the brand for luxurious and comfortable stockings,
lingerie and topwear. They collaborate with such designers as Valentino and Kenzo for their exclusive underwear. Shoe store Shoebaloo
(no. 57c) converted a former cinema into a spectacular showroom
for its trendy collection of top-brand ladies and men’s footwear.

COOLSINGEL
Fashion, interiors, perfumes, accessories and books all under one roof
and everything of a high quality? That could only be the Bijenkorf
(Coolsingel 105). You can recover from the overwhelming experience
in the in-store restaurant La Ruche. A department store of a completely different order is Studio Hergebruik (no. 47), which sells only
designer clothing, furniture and accessories made from recycled materials.

Meent offers a varied and modern range of stores. The fashion stores
and specialised shops, including those of various international chains,
give the street international allure. Shopper (no. 119) stocks truly
unique clothing and accessories. You can find the latest designs by up
and coming designers such as Iris van Herpen and Guten Apetit hanging there. The Italian brand Replay, with its tough and romantic
jeans, has a place of its own in the Replay Store (no. 73a). It stocks
men’s, women’s and children’s fashion. For a big collection of G-Star
jeans etc. you must also visit Meent, Cracks (no. 102) to be precise.

Netherlands too. Here you can explore their sexy basics in all colours of the rainbow. Shoe addicts can really indulge themselves in
the new, spacious Shoe Club store (no. 98): a contemporary collection of women’s shoes from trendy quality brands. Why not indulge

Just to the east of the well-known shopping streets in the city centre
you will find a wealth of unique shops with a bold range of products.
The choice around Meent and the Maagd van Holland Kwartier is so
diverse that the name Quartier Varié is certainly appropriate here.
From vintage and design to children’s books and exclusive gifts; you

MAAGD VAN HOLLAND KWARTIER
Idiosyncratic is the keyword that links all the shops, galleries and catering establishments in this compact and trendy shopping area. The
range is tremendously varied, so just go and explore for yourself. You’ll
be in for a surprise! A couple of tips to get you started: Full of atmosphere and colour, that is how you would describe Pronkjuweel (Pannekoekstraat 35a), where a colourful collection of beads, jewellery and
accessories pays tribute to feminine beauty. At Toaster (Pannekoekstraat 38a) you can relax in one of the comfy settees and enjoy a delicious double-thick toasted sandwich. The perfect place for shoppers
to take a break! Limited edition sneakers, cool going-out clothes and
work by contemporary - Rotterdam – designers can be found at I am
Fool (Pannekoekstraat 80), with its equally idiosyncratic design. End a
day in the MaHo in style at Level (Pannekoekstraat 76a). Sink into one
of the orange bucket seats and enjoy the delicious cocktails and snacks.

BINNENWEG AND SURROUNDING AREA
Selexyz Donner bookstore (Lijnbaan 150), with its 11 floors, is the
largest bookshop in the Netherlands. Here you can also browse through
a wide selection of CDs and DVDs or even recharge your batteries in
the coffee shop. It’s clear from the striking frontage of Sevenply (Binnenwegplein 20c) what the store is all about: skating! In addition to
many boards, you will also find shoes and clothes from well-known
skate brands. At Episode (Oude Binnenweg 144a), you can have lots
of fun looking through the vintage clothing: plenty of ladies and
men’s clothes plus matching accessories which are completely up to
date. The provocative collection from hip brand Gsus can be found at
Heavens Playground (Oude Binnenweg 65); the store has an interior
styled on a Las Vegas casino. At Demonfuzz Records (Nieuwe Binnenweg 86) you will find a large selection of crazy, good and unusual
LPs. You can look and listen to the latest bands at Rotown (Nieuwe
Binnenweg 17-19), for years the place to hang out for music lovers,
and where they also serve good food.
If it’s shoes you’re looking for, try Betsy Palmer (no. 9a). Here it will
be difficult to choose between all the mules, pumps and boots from
well-known makes, as well as the store’s own BPM brand. Right next
door, Margreeth Olsthoorn (no. 5a) has her boutique. Her stock
includes clothes bearing the quality labels Martin Margiela and Day.
Attractive underwear can be found across the road, at Marlies Dekkers (no. 2). Beautiful, striking and saucy lingerie in an equally beautiful and saucy store… At Toko 94 (no. 94) you can take a break and
admire your purchases over a hip cocktail or something from the tropical-modern menu, the ingredients for which are purchased from
tokos in Rotterdam. Design gallery Vivid (William Boothlaan 17a)
not only has exhibition space, but also a shop section with a distinctive
selection of contemporary design. At NieuweOntwerpers.nl (William Boothlaan 13a), young fashion talents show off their unique creations – therefore a good place to make some new discoveries!

the Veerhaven, there is plenty of contemporary commercial activity.
In the former warehouses of the Westelijk Handelsterrein, trendy galleries and cool eateries have sprung up, where they move the tables

FRIENDLY, TRADITIONAL AND NOSTALGIC
Rotterdam does not usually conjure up the image of picturesque canals with grand, old buildings and cosy pubs. Yet the city does have a
magnificent historic neighbourhood, where you can shop in fitting
style. Antique shops and craftsmen are setting up business in Delfshaven, in the midst of friendly bars and attractive pavement cafes.
Worth knowing: many of the (antique) shops have irregular opening
times and sometimes also open on Sundays.

With the countless screws, tins, tops, strips, foam, sticker sheets and
buttons, which come in all shapes and sizes, it is a true Walhalla for
the hobbyist. If you’re feeling peckish, try De Parel (no. 54b). This

Finally, there are lots of nice restaurants and bars in Delfshaven.

balcony that extends over the water and a great terrace. A couple of
doors further along you will find Proeflokaal de Ooievaar (Havenstraat 11), a cosy bar with a huge range of gins. Feeling hungry? At

the Netherlands. The stylish watch and jewellery shop Watch! The

instance. For a breathtaking range of leather and suede coats, you

shopping ...
WINKELCENTRUM ZUIDPLEIN
ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING
At the indoor Zuidplein Shopping Centre, you can enjoy shopping
whatever the weather. In the surprising mix of unique shops, Dutch
and international chain stores, you are sure to find something to suit.
Worth mentioning: there are at least ten stores specialising in mobile
telephony, games and music! There is also plenty of choice when it
comes to fortifying the inner man. On top of all this, the shopping
centre is easily accessible. Buses and metro lines stop in front of the
door. There is parking space under the shops in a large garage and
there are also secure cycle-parking facilities. There is late-night
shopping every Thursday. Would you like to go shopping in the heart
of Zuid on a Sunday? That’s possible because Zuidplein is frequently
open on Sundays. For further information check out www.zuidplein.nu.
WATCH! THE TIME STORE
Day Fashion used to be known as Zuidplein’s sweater store. Nowadays, this friendly boutique has much more to offer ladies over thirty.
For anyone who ever makes their own clothes, Matson is a must. This
store has countless sewing and embroidery machines, iron presses
and overlockers and a huge collection of sewing requisites, from Appliqués to Zips.
In the beautifully designed premises of The Optiek Arsenaal, you

cheaper here.
Take Five is not just one clothes store; it’s two. On one side of the
wide premises is the men’s department, whilst ladies can shop on
the other side. Snoopy sells fun, cool, casual clothes. The ‘big boss’
