Une famille, un musée… 40 ans d’histoire
Au début du XX siècle, deux jeunes
chercheurs, Conrad et Marcel Schlumberger
inventent une technique de prospection
minière. En 1970, leur famille choisit le Château
de Crèvecœur pour y installer un musée
retraçant leur épopée. Un long travail de
restauration et d’aménagements commence.
En 1973, le Musée ouvre ses portes. Lors de
l’inauguration, le Président Fondateur, M. Didier
Primat, « émet le vœu que le musée suscite des
vocations scientifiques et réveille l’amour des
vieilles pierres ».

In the early XX century, two young
scientists Conrad and Marcel
Schlumberger invented a new
technique for mineral prospecting.
In 1970, their family chose the
Château de Crevecoeur as the
site for a museum devoted to their
saga. It was the beginning of long
years of restoration and renovation.
In 1973, the Museum opened its
doors. On the day of the inauguration
the Founding President Mr Didier
Primat, “expresses the wish that the
museum should give rise to scientific
vocations and awaken the love of old
stones”.

Horaires d’ouverture
Avril, mai, juin et septembre : tous les jours de
11h à 18h. Juillet et août : tous les jours de 11h à
19h. Fermeture exceptionnelle le samedi 30 juillet.
Octobre : les dimanches de 14h à 18h. Vacances de
la Toussaint : tous les jours de 14h à 18h.
Tarifs (hors animations)
Tarif normal : 7 €
Tarif réduit (7-18 ans et étudiants) : 5 €
Gratuit moins de 7 ans.
Chèques vacances acceptés. Visites audioguidées en
français, en anglais, en néerlandais et en allemand
disponibles à l’accueil : 2 €.
Pour les groupes : Visites théâtralisées ou guidées,
ateliers pédagogiques sur réservation à partir de 20
personnes.
Entre Caen et Lisieux, sur la D613 à 30 km de Caen,
20 km de Lisieux. Par l’A13 : sortie La Haie Tondue n°29a.

Opening hours : April, May, June and September:
every day, from. 11am to 6pm. July and August:
every day from 11am to 7pm. Exceptionally closed
on Saturday 30 July. October: Sundays, from 2pm
to 6pm. All Saints holidays: every day from 2pm
to 6pm.
Price (events excluded) : €7, for 7 to 18 years old
and students €5, free for less than 7 years old.
€2 Audio guided tours available in French, English,
Dutch and German at the reception desk.
For groups : Dramatized or guided visits,
educational workshops by reservation for groups of
20 people upwards.
Between Caen and Lisieux on the D613 (formerly
RN13), 30 km away from Caen, 20 km from Lisieux.

DU MOYEN ÂGE
LES EXPOSITIONS
miraculeusement préservé…
Entouré de douves, il a conservé son plan
d’origine en deux parties.
Dans la basse-cour, sont regroupés les
bâtiments agricoles à pans de bois du XVe
et du XVIe siècle : la ferme, le colombier,
la grange et la chapelle du XIIe siècle.
Dans la haute cour, le manoir d’habitation du
XVe siècle est protégé par une muraille du XIIe
siècle.
Un jardin des simples, une bergerie,
un four à pain et un four de potier complètent
le domaine seigneurial.

LE PAN DE BOIS
Surrounded by a moat, it has retained
its original two-part layout.
In the outer bailey the XVth and XVIth
century half-timbered agricultural
buildings are grouped together: the
farm, the dovecote, the barn and the
XIIth century chapel.
In the inner bailey, the XV century
manorial building is protected by a
XIIth century wall.

A herb-garden, a sheep-fold, a bread
oven and a pottery kiln complete the
medieval site.
