wewillbewelcomingSachaintoourchurchcommunity
with the sacrament of Baptism – baptised with holy
water just as John-the-Baptist baptised Jesus in the
wateroftheJordan.

A Baptism is an occasion for the close family of the
person being baptised, and everyone present, to feel
thepresenceofGod’sloveandjoy.ThatiswhatJesusis
saying when He says that we will be baptised with the
HolySpirit–thatloveandjoycandescendandenterall
ofus;itcanchangeusanditcanmakeusamoreloving
(andloved)humanbeing.
So, as we listen to the words of the Baptism and hear
the vows affirmed by Sacha’s Parents and Godparents,
mayweallopenourownheartsandminds…andallow
theHolySpirittodescendoneachofus.
WearewelcomingfortwoweekstheRevdJoelDaniels,

TheActsoftheApostles–Ch1
In the first book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus did and
taught from the beginning until the day when he was taken up to
heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the
apostles whom he had chosen. After his suffering he presented
himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to
themduringfortydaysandspeakingaboutthekingdomofGod.
Whilestayingwiththem,heorderedthemnottoleaveJerusalem,
buttowaitthereforthepromiseoftheFather."This,"hesaid,"is
what you have heard from me; for John baptized with water, but
youwillbebaptisedwiththeHolySpiritnotmanydaysfromnow."
Sowhentheyhadcometogether,theyaskedhim,"Lord,isthisthe
timewhenyouwillrestorethekingdomtoIsrael?"Hereplied,"Itis
notforyoutoknowthetimesorperiodsthattheFatherhassetby
hisownauthority.ButyouwillreceivepowerwhentheHolySpirit
hascomeuponyou;andyouwillbemywitnessesinJerusalem,in
allJudeaandSamaria,andtotheendsoftheearth."Whenhehad
saidthis,astheywerewatching,hewasliftedup,andacloudtook
himoutoftheirsight.Whilehewasgoingandtheyweregazingup
towardheaven,suddenlytwomeninwhiterobesstoodbythem.
They said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward
heaven?ThisJesus,whohasbeentakenupfromyouintoheaven,
willcomeinthesamewayasyousawhimgointoheaven."

vous serez baptisés du Saint-Esprit. Alors les apôtres réunis lui
demandèrent: Seigneur, est-ce en ce temps que tu rétabliras le
royaumed’Israël?Illeurrépondit:Cen’estpasàvousdeconnaître
les temps ou les moments que le Père a fixés de sa propre
autorité. Mais vous recevrez une puissance, le Saint-Esprit
survenant sur vous, et vous serez mes témoins à Jérusalem, dans
toutelaJudée,danslaSamarie,etjusqu’auxextrémitésdelaterre.
Aprèsavoirditcela,ilfutélevépendantqu’ilsleregardaient,etune
nuéeledérobaàleursyeux.Etcommeilsavaientlesregardsfixés
vers le ciel pendant qu’il s’en allait, voici, deux hommes vêtus de
blancleurapparurent,etdirent:HommesGaliléens,pourquoivous
arrêtez-vousàregarderauciel?CeJésus,quiaétéenlevéaucieldu
milieu de vous, viendra de la même manière que vous l’avez vu
allantauciel.

Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you
whileIwasstillwithyou--thateverythingwrittenaboutmeinthe
lawofMoses,theprophets,andthepsalmsmustbefulfilled."
Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he
saidtothem,"Thusitiswritten,thattheMessiahistosufferandto
rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and
forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations,
beginningfromJerusalem.Youarewitnessesofthesethings.And
see,IamsendinguponyouwhatmyFatherpromised;sostayhere
inthecityuntilyouhavebeenclothedwithpowerfromonhigh."
ThenheledthemoutasfarasBethany,and,liftinguphishands,he
blessedthem.Whilehewasblessingthem,hewithdrewfromthem
and was carried up into heaven. And they worshiped him, and
returnedtoJerusalemwithgreatjoy;andtheywerecontinuallyin
thetempleblessingGod.

share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to
reconcileustoyou,theGodandFatherofall.
Wethereforebringyouthesegifts,andweaskyoutomake
them holy by the power of your Spirit, that they may
become the Body and Blood of your Son, our Saviour Jesus
Christ, who offered Himself in obedience to your will,
thePerfectSacrificeforallmankind.
OnthenightHewasbetrayed,Hetookbread,andwhenHe
had given thanks to you, He broke it and gave it to His
disciplesandsaid:
"Takethisandeatit:ThisismyBody,whichisgivenforyou.
Dothisfortheremembranceofme.”
After supper He took the cup of wine: and when He had
giventhanks,Hegaveittothemandsaid:
“Drinkthis,allofyou:ThisismyBloodoftheNewCovenant,
which is shed for you and for many forthe forgiveness of
sins.Dothis,wheneveryoudrinkit,fortheremembranceof
me.”
Letusproclaimthemysteryoffaith:
ALL:Christhasdied,Christisrisen,Christwillcomeagain.
CELEBRANT Father, calling to mind the death your Son
endured for our salvation; Hisglorious Resurrection and
Ascension; His continual intercession for us in heaven; and
looking for His coming again in glory, we offer you, in
thanksgiving, this holy and life-giving sacrifice. Look with
favouronyourChurch’soffering,andgrantthatwewhoeat
anddrinktheseholygiftsmaybefilledwithyourHolySpirit
and become one body in Christ, and serve you in unity,
constancyandpeace.MayHemakeusaperpetualoffering
toyouandenableus,incommunionwithTheMostBlessed
VirginMary,SaintBartholomewandthewholecompanyof
heaven,toshareintheinheritanceofyourSaints.
WithHim,andinHim,andthroughHim,bythepowerofthe
Holy Spirit, weworship you, Father Almighty, with all who
