Thank you for purchasing the Vicks Underarm Digital Thermometer, a professionally accurate instrument for comfortably
measuring body temperature. Please read these instructions carefully to ensure accurate temperatures and safe operation.
When used properly, this high quality thermometer will give you years of accurate, dependable use.
The Vicks Digital Underarm Thermometer (V932S-CAN) is designed specifically for measuring underarm (axillary)
temperatures in children ages infants to 6 years old. It’s perfect for children who are too old for rectal measurements yet too
young to hold a thermometer in their mouth.
Unlike regular thermometers, the unique ComfortDisc™ of the Vicks Underarm Thermometer is designed to find the
“hotspot” (Fig. 3) easily and comfortably every time.

TEMPERATURE READINGS
Temperature readings vary from person to person. Although there is no one “normal” temperature reading, a temperature
taken orally, ranging between 36.1°C and 37.7°C, is considered normal. An underarm (axillary) temperature will be about
0.5°C lower.
The best method to determine your child’s normal temperature is to use the thermometer when they are feeling well.
Record the temperature twice a day (early morning and late afternoon). Take the average of the two temperatures. This is
considered your child’s normal body temperature. Any variation from it may indicate some sort of illness and you should
consult your pediatrician.
BEFORE USE
Your Vicks Underarm Digital Thermometer is designed specifically for underarm use. It is recommended that for 15
minutes prior to use, your child should avoid eating or drinking any liquids, physical activity,
or taking showers or baths.

Press the On/Off button to activate the thermometer. A beep will sound and the display will Fig. 2

come on. The display will first show the LCD display test (Fig. 1) and then show the last
reading. After 5 seconds, the display will be in the ready mode (Fig. 2).
UNDERARM (AXILLARY) USE
1. Wipe the underarm with a towel.
2. Place the ComfortDisc™ under the arm so the sensor is touching the skin
and position the arm next to the body (Fig. 3). With a young child, it is
sometimes helpful to hug the child to keep their arm next to their body.
This helps hold the thermometer steady and ensures that the room air
does not affect the reading.
3. When the peak temperature is reached, a series of beeps will sound and

the “°C” sign will stop flashing. The tremperature is now ready to read
and will not change when thermometer is removed.

Remember that this method produces a temperature about 0,5°C lower
than a temperature taken orally.
4. Turn the thermometer off by pressing the On/Off button. If you forget to turn it off, the thermometer will automatically
turn off after approximately 9 minutes.
5. Wash the thermometer as recommended.
TO RECALL THE LAST TEMPERATURE
Press and hold on/off button for 1.5 seconds and the last reading will show in the display with the letter “M” shown under
the degree sign for approximately 3 seconds.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
© Clean the sensor area of the thermometer only by washing with soap and warm water or rubbing alcohol (70%
isopropyl alcohol).
© Wipe dry with soft cloth.
© DO NOT SUBMERGE THE READOUT DISPLAY OF THE THERMOMETER IN WATER. This will cause the thermometer to
no longer function properly.
© DO NOT BOIL OR CLEAN IN DISHWASHER. This will cause the thermometer to no longer function and will void the
warranty.
© Do not wash the unit with any thinner or chemical solvent.
CHANGING THE BATTERIES
The Vicks Underarm Digital Thermometer features a long life, mercury free battery. When the “ Ä ” appears in the lower
right of the display, the battery is exhausted and needs replacing.
1. With a coin or screwdriver, release cover lock located on the back of the thermometer and remove the battery with a
non-metallic instrument.
2. Carefully discard the old battery. Keep out of reach of young children, elderly and pets.
3. Replace with a type SR41 (long life), LR41, or equivalent, making sure the positive (+) side is facing the back of the
thermometer.
4. Replace battery cover. Your thermometer is now ready for use.

more than 200 hours of continuous operation. (approx. 2 years if used 10 minutes per day, every day).
Accuracy:
+/- 0.1°C between 34°C and 42°C at an ambient temperature of 18°C to 28°C
Temperature Range: 32.0°C to 42.9°C. If less that 32.0°C an “L” is displayed. If more that 42.9°C and “H” is displayed.
Unit will beep for approximately 8 seconds when peak temperature is reached.

Your Vicks Underarm Digital Thermometer is durable and manufactured for a lifetime of normal, household use. Following
directions carefully will ensure years of dependable operation. If for any reason (other than misuse or normal battery
replacement) you are dissatisfied with your Vicks Underarm Digital Thermometer, we will repair or replace it, at our option,
free during your lifetime.
If the thermometer does not function properly, first check the battery. Replace if necessary. If repair is necessary call our
Consumer Relations Department at 1-800-477-0457 or write to Kaz, Inc., Consumer Relations Department, 250 Turnpike
Rd., Southborough, MA 01772, explaining just how the thermometer is improperly working. Our consumer service
representative will provide further instruction on how to correct the trouble yourself or will ask you to return the
thermometer for repair or replacement.

Le thermomètre axillaire numérique Vicks (V932S-CAN) est conçu spécialement pour mesurer la température de l’aisselle (axillaire) des

RELEVÉS DE TEMPÉRATURE
Les relevés de température varient d’une personne à une autre. Bien qu’il n’y ait aucun relevé de température « normal », une
température, prise à l’aisselle, variant entre 36,1 et 37,7 °C est considérée normale. Une température rectale est généralement de
1,0 °C plus élevée, et une température buccale, de 0,5 °C plus élevée.
Le meilleur moyen de déterminer la température normale de votre enfant, c’est de la prendre quand il va bien. Prenez sa température
deux fois par jour (tôt le matin et en fin d’après-midi). Faites la moyenne des deux températures. C’est là la température normale de
votre enfant. Toute variation de la température normale peut être l’indice d’une indisposition, et vous devriez, dans ce cas, consulter
votre pédiatre.
AVANT L’EMPLOI
Votre thermomètre axillaire numérique Vicks a été conçu expressément pour prendre la température sous le bras. Nous vous
recommandons de faire en sorte que votre enfant s’abstienne de manger ou de boire quelque liquide que ce soit, de faire de
l’exercice ou de prendre une douche ou un bain pendant 15 minutes avant de prendre la température.

Appuyez sur le bouton marche-arrêt pour faire fonctionner le thermomètre. Un signal sonore se Fig. 1

UTILISATION AXILLAIRE (SOUS LE BRAS)
1. Essuyez l’aisselle au moyen d’une serviette.
2. Mettez le ComfortDiscMD dans le creux de l’aisselle de façon à ce que la pointe
touche la peau, et rabattez le bras le long du corps (Fig. 3). Chez un jeune
enfant, il est parfois utile d’étreindre l’enfant de manière à garder son bras le
long de son corps. Ceci assure que l’air ambiant n’affecte pas le thermomètre.
3. Lorsque la température la plus élevée est atteinte, une série de signaux sonores
se fait entendre, et le signe « ºC » cesse de clignoter. La température est
prête à la lecture et ne change pas lorsque le thermomètre est retiré.

4. Arrêtez le fonctionnement du thermomètre en appuyant sur le bouton marche-arrêt. Si vous oubliez de le mettre hors tension, le
thermomètre s’arrêtera automatiquement après environ 9 minutes.
5. Lavez le thermomètre de la façon recommandée.
RAPPEL DE LA DERNIÈRE TEMPÉRATURE
Pour afficher la dernière température mesurée, appuyez sur le bouton marche-arrêt pendant 1,5 seconde. La dernière température
s’affichera avec la lettre « M » apparaissant sous le symbole du degré pendant environ 3 secondes.

© Nettoyez le capteur du thermomètre en le lavant à l’eau tiède savonneuse ou à l’alcool à friction (alcool isopropylique 70 %).

REMPLACEMENT DE LA PILE
Le thermomètre axillaire numérique Vicks comporte une pile sans mercure de longue durée. Lorsque le symbole «Ä » apparaît dans
le coin inférieur droit de l’affichage, ceci signifie que la pile est épuisée et doit être remplacée.
1. À l’aide d’une pièce de monnaie ou d’un tournevis, relâchez le verrou du couvercle situé à l’arrière du thermomètre et retirez la
pile à l’aide d’un instrument non métallique.
2. Jetez soigneusement la vieille pile. Tenez hors de la portée des jeunes enfants, des personnes âgées et des animaux.
3. Remplacez-la par une pile de type SR41 (longue durée), LR41 ou l’équivalent, en veillant à ce que le côté positif (+) soit dirigé
vers l’arrière du thermomètre.
4. Replacez le couvercle du logement de la pile. Votre thermomètre est à nouveau prêt à l’emploi.

Durée de service de la pile : plus de 200 heures de fonctionnement continu (environ 2 ans, si elle est utilisée pendant 10 minutes par
jour, chaque jour).
