The Villa Romaine Hotel, located seven kilometers from Sarlat, is right in the middle of the Perigord Noir,
a magnificent county that owes its name to the dark foliage of the holm oak. The Dordogne, part of the
Perigord Noir, is also the name of our well-known river on which you can canoe. An unspoiled landscape,
along with a beautiful valley surrounded by castles, makes your stay a sensational experience.
Situated in the Vezere valley, close to Lascaux, a site famous for its paleolithic cave paintings, you are now
in the heart of an area full of history with extraordinary places to visit including gardens, museums, caves,
prehistoric sites, and theme parks.
During your stay, enjoy the wealth of our table. With its culinary tradition, our gastronomy is rich and
tasty. It takes its inspiration from the perigourdine local cuisine.

Top-of-the-range hotel services
As a member of the chain “Castles and Hotels Collection”, the “Villa Romaine” proposes 17 large rooms
including two suites and an room suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
They all propose great comfort, with air-conditioning, mini-bars, an in room safe, hair dryers, TV, and
complimentary WI-FI. They all can be turned into king or queen size bed.
One of the two suites, which is a duplex offers a bathroom with Jacuzzi bath-tub and a separate shower.
The other suite has three rooms and can accommodate up to six persons which is ideal for a family stay or
a party among friends.
A large overflowing swimming pool makes your stay even more agreeable in summertime.
For nature lovers, we can also provide you with detailed maps, if you want to have a long walk or a short
stroll.There are also bicycle hire facilities near our hotel.
We do have a private car park.
Your hosts, David Vacelet and Emilie Velut maintain the highest service standards and are attentive to each
personalized request.
They like to prepare some “small presents” in order to insure that your stay will be a great moment as for
example a pretty bouquet, a bottle of champagne, or either the breakfast in your room, all kind of intention
that counts a lot when you wish that your stay will be manage in an accurate and efficient manners.

The Restaurant: our county flavours
Our Chef carefully selects all the range of products that comes from our lands and is more than ever looking
to glorify the wealth of our “perigourdine” soil.
Menus are created using local and fresh products and are designed as much as possible using organic
products.
The wine list is in harmony with the menu : David Vacelet often selects natural and organic wines.

On the Cultural Side: An exceptional heritage
• Sarlat, an urban medieval city amongst one of the most important of the world, is at ten minutes from
our hotel.
• The Dordogne Valley and its 1001 castles: 15 kilometers from the hotel
The river flows between cliffs and castles of the Middle Ages and of the Renaissance period.
Castles of Castelnaud, Beynac, Fenelon, Montfort, Milandes (Joséphine Baker's residence)
and the splendid Domme's walled town with an exceptional panorama.
You can also discover these wonders by plane, ULM or montgolfier.
• The Villa Romaine is an ideal place for an escapade in the Lot country.
You are only at 1 hour of Rocamadour (1st site of the Christendom, classified exceptional site)
and of the Abyss of Padirac (subterranean site, treasure of geologic architecture).
On the Prehistoric Side
• Lascaux (25 kilometers): the cave of Lascaux is top ranked of the European prehistoric sites by the number
and the quality of its paintings. The visited facsimile recreates the incomparable atmosphere of the original
cave.
• Font-de-gaume (30 kilometers):
Magnificent original cave. First polychromatic paintings discovered in Perigord.
The site is closed on Saturdays. Advance reservation required.
On the Sports Side
• The situation of “the Villa Romaine” is ideal for jogging, hiking, bicycling, nature walks, and cycling.
• 1 kilometer from the hotel: canoing on the Dordogne river, free descents or accompanied for
a natural pleasure.
