A new business has opened and it’s
causing men to blush and women to
smile. Everyone it seems can appreciate
the universal appeal of pretty undergarments and now they are available in
Grunthal at the 115 Main Street Salon.
Meet Mireille Laroche. She is the area’s
newest entrepreneur, offering a nice
selection of affordable, well-made bras
that definitely have eye appeal. Mireille
is a certified bra-fitter who says that a
proper fitted bra promotes good posture, breast health and self-esteem but
most importantly, from a woman’s perspective, is also comfortable.
No more riding up the back and floppy
straps, drooping breasts or bulging in
the wrong places. There is more to deciding on a bra than simply choosing
between lace, microfiber or cotton.
“Appearance is important, but to be
fitted properly aids in a woman’s
health,” she says. “Sore backs, headaches and issues caused by poor posture
are often improved with a properly fitted bra.”
She also says that it is important to start
young, as soon as a girl starts developing. Weight loss or a few pounds gained
plus aging can change a woman’s shape
enough that one size definitely does not
fit all. Unfortunately, most places where
we tend to shop don’t offer a fitting service so she decided it was important to
include that as a free perk—so that
women can buy with confidence and be
satisfied with their purchase when they
return home.

decided to start this particular business.
“There was no place to rent space in St.
Pierre so I decided to set up in Grunthal,” she said. “I always have liked the
town and it is close to home.”
She opened her business, The Silhouette
Company, inside the 115 Main Street
Salon October 15th and business is picking up as more women realize they can
buy their bras locally instead of trying to
squeeze in a visit to the dressing room
while on a trip to Winnipeg.
No appointments are necessary. She says
clients need to allow 15 minutes to a half
hour to be properly fitted and to choose a
bra that is comfortable, appealing, and
suits their lifestyle.
She carries a wide range of sizes so most
of the time women find what they need.
“If I don’t have the size in the bra the
client wants I order it in,” she said. Most
of the suppliers she deals with are Canadian based so special orders don’t take
long to come in.
The Silhouette Company also carries a
line of specialty bras that include popular, well-known brands for maternity use
and bras suitable for women recovering
from surgery. She also carries some
panties and lingerie accessories.
Whether a woman is ready to buy or just
wanting to browse, she invites everyone
to come in to meet her and take a look.
Her hours are: Tuesday to Friday – 10:00
to 6:00; Saturday from 10:00 – 4:00 p.m.
