Chères amies,
voilà la première tentative de notre Euro News: comme un
nouveau - né qui a besoin de temps et de nourriture pour
grandir, j’espère pour le rendre plus complet dans le futur,
dans la collaboration des Associations Nationales, dans ce
que nous avons décidé à Naples, dans l’Esprit du Sacre Cœur
que nous ne devons jamais oublier. Je crois vraiment dans
la communication et dans l’amitié: il faut s’aider l’une l’autre,
parce que nous sommes aujourd’hui les résponsables de la
diffusion du message d’amour et de dévoir de Sainte Madeleine.

Dear friends,
here is the first attempt of our Euro News: like a new born,
it needs time and food to grow. I hope to make it more
complete in the future, with the collaboration of National
Associations, in what we decided in Naples, in the Spirit of
Sacred Hearth that we must always remember.
I really believe in communication and in friendship: we need
each other’s help, because we are nowadays, liable for the
diffusion of the message of Saint Madeleine.

FRANCE
OPERATION VERITE POUR LES ANCIENS ET ANCIENNES DE FRANCE
A mi course du mandat de la présidente Katherine Segalen, qui
s’achèvera en principe en novembre 2014, une grande opération vérité
est lancée pour clarifier les attentes de chacun sur l’avenir de notre
réseau. L’opération a commencé fin janvier par la diffusion de deux
grands questionnaires: l’un destiné au plus grand nombre possible
d’anciens et anciennes, l’autre aux responsables de leurs groupes
d’accueil ou amicales.
En mai, notre association nationale réunira au Centre spirituel de Joigny,
dans la maison natale de Sophie Barat, toutes ces responsables. Un
premier temps sera consacré à l’analyse des résultats de deux enquêtes,
puis les participantes seront regroupées par ateliers sur des thèmes
précis pour rechercher des idées nouvelles permettant de corriger ou
infléchir les décisions à prendre pour l’avenir.

de Caritas où sont expliquées les raisons de cette réunion exceptionnelle

MEETING ON THE EXPECTATIONS AND FUTURE OF THE FRENCH
ALUMNAE
At mid mandate of the Presidency of Katherine Segalen (ending by
November 2014) a big enquiry operation has been launched to clarify
the expectations on the future of our network. The opération started
by the end of January. Two questionnaires were sent: one to the largest
possible number of alumnae and a second to the Presidents of the local
Associations. In May we will meet in Joigny at the House of St Madeleine
Sophie with all the local responsables. We will concentrate first on the
analysis of the results of both enquiries. Then the participants will split
in small groups and work on a precise theme in order to try to find
new ideas which will allow us to correct or change the direction of
decisions to be taken in the future.

L’année passée nous a montré de nouveau ce que c’est l’internationalité
du Sacré-Cœur:
on a réussi à trouver un logement à une ancienne américaine (venue
à Vienne pour y travailler) chez une ancienne viennoise; une jeune
Autrichienne ne trouvant pas de logement pour son stage déjà fixé à
Bruxelles, a pu être dépannée par la gentillesse d’une ancienne belge;
l’amie d’une ancienne américaine qu’elle cherchait éperdument depuis
des années a pu être identifiée par une photo publiée dans notre
journal.
Voilà ce que c’est le Sacré-Cœur!
Deux associations autrichiennes publient un petit journal quatre fois
par an dont un point commun est de faire parler et écrire des anciennes
et anciens ayant parcouru déjà un bout de chemin depuis le bac. Et il
y en a qui se mettent même à la disposition des élèves actuels pour
donner des informations concernant leur metier: voilà le cercle qui se
referme.

- Last year we could see what really can be the internationality of
Sacred Heart. There was an American alumna who wanted to find an
apartment in Vienna because she has got a job there: we find her a
place by an Austrian alumna. On the other side an Austrian alumna
who got a job for two month in Brussels was helped by a Belgian one
and last but not least we could find the former school friend for an
American alumna who was looking for her for years! That’s what the
Sacred Heart can be!
- Two of the Austrian associations are publishing newsletters and it’s
interesting to see that both found the same way to stay connected:
interviews with or articles from alumnae and alumni who are telling
her live and career since they left school and some of them even make
themselves available to give information about their jobs at school or
by an internet forum. The circle came to a close…

Also we want to give this year
a more national elaboration of
the AMASC theme Listening
with one Heart. We organise a
new reflection day on the
subject of this theme of
AMASC: and we will do as again
a meditation-day, listening to
the silence of our hearts.
We are so lucky and grateful
that an alumna who is now an
abbess of a Trappist monastery
convent, is each year our
religious counsellor during this
reflection day. She gives us
always so good information for
such a rich discussion. It is
always a very inspiring day, full
of cordiality, with a special open
mind as sacred heart sisters.
For the sportive alumnae we
have our yearly very
enthusiastic Sacred Heart Golf
match.
We are organising in October a
lunch/reunion for the alumnae
in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, more in
the south of the Netherlands.
t Sophianum-school they are
yearly organising a social day
to make money for our project
in Padna.
Now in January two of the
teachers were going to Padna
to bring the money there!
For the lottery we have as a
prize a week stay in a wonderful
apartment with sea-view at the Belgian
coast in Knokke, a very luxery place to be!

Nous avions voué cet année à l’ étude,
à niveau national, du thème Amasc
«Ecouter avec le cœur «Nous avons
organisé une journée de réflexion à ce
sujet et une autre est prevue pour
réflechir sur « Ecouter dans le silence de
nos cœurs»
Une alumna, maintenant abbesse d’un
couvent Trappiste est notre guide
spirituelle et nous en sommes très
heureuses. Elle nous donnes toujours des
directives très importantes pour nos
discussions. Ces jours de méditation sont
des jours de spiritualité, mais aussi de
joy, avec l’ ésprit du Sacre Cœur. Pour
les alumnae sportives il ya chaque année,
avec beaucoup d’enthousiasme, un «Golf
Match». Nous sommes en train d’organiser
en octobre une réunion/déjeuner à
Hertogenbosc dan le sud du pays.
L’ école « Sophianum » organise une
journée sociale pour récuillir de l’argent
pour le projet à Padna et le prochain
janvier deux professeurs iront porter
l’argent directement à Padna.
Comme lot pour la Lotterie Européenne,
les Pays Bas offrent un séjour d’una
semaine à Knokk, dans un extraordinaire
apartement avec vue sur la mer :!

El día 8 de marzo la Superiora
General Kathleen Conan recibió
en Madrid a las juntas de ASCE,
Madrid-Chamartín, MadridRosales y Fundación ASCE. Le
agradecemos que encontrase
un rato para recibirnos y
compartir con nosotros su
experiencia. Los antiguos
debemos compartir la
espiritualidad el corazón de Jesús
con nuestro entorno. La
implicación de los jóvenes en
las asociaciones sigue siendo un
reto y es importante crear una
buena base para formar una
persona íntegra.
Se han celebrado en Madrid los
mercadillos de Chamartín y
Rosales para obtener fondos
para ayudar a la Fundación
ASCE que cuenta con varias
residencias de ancianos en
Madrid y Sevilla. Para recaudar
fondos para los Socorros
Mutuos, el coro de antiguas ha
realizado varios conciertos.

une representation des amicales
de Madrid-Chamartin, MadridRosales et Fondation ASCE.
Nous sommes trés
reconnaissantes du temps
qu'elle a eu la gentillesse de
nous dédier pour partager son
expérience avec nous. Les
anciens et anciennes élèves se
doivent de partager la spiritualité du
coeur de Jésus avec leur entourage.
L'implication des jeunes dans les
associations reste encore un défi et c'est
trés important d'établir une base solide
pour former une persone intègre.
A Madrid ont eu lieu des brocantes, à
Chamartin et à Rosales, destinées à
obtenir des fonds pour la Fondation ASCE
qui a en charge plusieures maisons de
retraite pour personnes agées à Madrid
et à Seville. Aussi, dans le but de collecter
des fonds pour la Caisse de Secours
Mutuels le choeur des anciennnes élèves
"Coral Mater Admirabilis" a offert
plusieurs concerts.

On March 8th 2012 the Superior General
Katleen Conan met in Madrid with the
boards of ASCE, Madrid-Chamartin,
Madrid-Rosales and ASCE Foundation.We
want to thank her for finding the time
to meet with us and share her great
experience. We former pupils have an
obligation to share the spirituality of the
heart of Jesus with people next to us.
The involvement of young people in the
associations is still a challenge, and it is
important to establish a solid base in
order to form a person of integrity.
Flea markets have taken place in MadridChamartin and Madrid-Rosales for the
purpose of helping the ASCE Foundation
which takes care of several homes for
elderly ladies in Madrid and Sevilla. Also,
in order to raise funds for the Mutual
Aid Foundation, the old girls' choir offered
several concerts.

Nous avons eu notre Congrès
Nationale à Rome du 13 au 15
Mars à la Casa La Salle. Nous
étions environ 90 anciennes
provenant par les douze
Amicales d'Italie. tout s'est
déroulé dans une atmosphère
de disponibilité et de
sympathie.
e thème a été: "Notre
engagement de Femmes et de
Foi". Les conferences, une de
Don Enrico Vannoni, ancien du
Sacré Coeur, sur "Les Femmes
de la Bible" et celle du Juge
Alessandra Gennaro, "Une
Femme Juge dans le Tribunal
écclesiastique", ont été très
interessants et surtout suivies.
l y a eu aussi des moments
de relax :la visite à la Galleria
Nazionale di Arte Moderna, la
section '900 et après le tour
du Parc de la Musique projecté
par Renzo Piano.
Grand succès des carrefours,
très aimés par tout le monde,
chacune a pu exprimer son
opinion. A la fin du rencontre
nous avions eu le tirage au sort
des lots de la Loterie: un
moment de joy et de gaieté.
Le premier lot, unsejour en
Toscane dans une villa, a été
gagné par une ancienne
Sicilienne. Chaque amicale a,
aussi, donné un lot des produits
typique de sa région.

We had our National Congress in Rome
from 13th to 15th March at Casa La
Salle, We were about 90 alumnae from
12 different Italian Associations from
12 cities. The atmosphere was of
collaboration and sympathy.
The theme of discussion was “Our
commitment as Women of Faith”.
We listened to the conferences of Father
Enrico Vannoni, alumno of the Sacred
Hearth of Florence on “The women in
the Holy Bible” and of Mrs.Alessandra
Gennaro, judge of the Ecclesiastical
Court on “A woman in the Ecclesiastical
Court”
The conferences were really interesting
and all people partecipated with great
interest.
We had also moments of relax: a guided
tour to the Galleria Nazionale di Arte
Moderna, mainly on the 1900 section,
and after a tour at the Parco della
Musica, projected by Renzo Piano.
We had, with great success, four
“Carrefours”: where everyone could
express their opinion.
At the end of the meeting, we had the
drawing of the lots of National Lottery:
a moment of joy!
he winner of First lot, a week in a Villa
in Tuscany, was a Sicilian alumna.
Every city association gave a lot with
typical products of its region.

ENGLAND AND WALES
L’année dernière nous avons reçu un expose donne par Hilary Thompson
(la coordinatrice de la ‘network’ des écoles du Sacre Cœur en Angleterre)
a notre réunion générale au mois de mars. Elle nous a parle du projet
de 9 étudiantes de l’école du Sacre Cœur a Newcastle qui allaient en
Ouganda pendant l’été pour repeindre quelques salles de classes, la
salle a manger et la Chapelle a Kalungu. Suite a cet expose nous
avons récolté plus de £500 pour aider les étudiantes dans leur projet.
Les étudiantes y ont passe deux semaines. C’était une très belle
expérience d’apprendre comment vive les autres. Cette année (2012)
Hilary nous a montre le PPP fait par les étudiantes montrant les résultats
de leur visite et ce qu’elles ont fait pour semer les amitiés entre elles
et les élèves de l’Ouganda.
Nous avons aussi envoyé £500 a l’Association du Japon suite a la
Tsumami.
Au mois de juin nous avons eu une journée pour réfléchir sur» l’écoute
avec un cœur». Ceci a eu lieu a Roehampton guide par Sœur Mary
Hinde.

In March last year the English schools’ network coordinator, Hilary
Thompson, gave us a talk at our AGM about the proposed visit of 9
students from Newcastle Sacred Heart to Uganda. They were going
to help with refurbishment of classrooms, the dining room and the
Chapel at Kalungu. Following this talk we raised over £500 to help
the students with their project.
The students spent two weeks there. It was a wonderful experience
mutually learning about the life styles of each other. This year (2012)
Hilary showed us a PPP made by the students giving pictures of their
visit and how they spent some of their leisure time getting to know
each other.
We also sent £500 to the Japanese Association following the Tsunami.
In June last year we had a study day on the theme of listening with
one heart. This was held at Roehampton and was led by Sister Mary
Hinde.
