OUR PRICE DETECTION NETWORK: A
UNIQUE ASSET FOR ITALY
Since 1965, ISMEA has used its own
price detection network to monitor
the production, wholesale and retail
stages in the agricultural, food, fishing
and aquaculture industries.
A true asset for Italy give our size,
scope and reliability, ISMEA’s network
also monitors factors influencing
production prices using 300 detection
points both domestically and
internationally. We are also UNI EN
190 9001:2008 certified.
AUTHORITATIVE
AND INDEPENDENT ANALYSIS
ISMEA publishes economic and
financial reports on the agro-food
sector and supply chain as well as
studies on competitive systems,
budget analysis, simulation
scenarios, impact assessments
and ad hoc studies (reports on
consumption, climate surveys,
observations on the land real estate
market, etc…).
Our analysis focuses on specific target
users and regions.

Our network monitors over 300
markets plus more than 600 kinds

GUARANTEES
ISMEA provides several different guarantees to allow agro-food companies
to obtain financing through our firm, SGFA (Società di Gestione Fondi per
l’Agroalimentare), 100% owned by ISMEA.
Subsidiary underwriting mitigates the credit risk and helps calm market concerns.
Underwriting is automatically granted for:
•subsidized loans lasting up to 18 months
•all loans lasting more than 18 months
The first call guarantee (co-guarantees, sureties, counter-securities) makes it
easier to access credit by reducing spreads and the funds requested from Basel 2.
All types of loans can be underwritten, whether for investments, modernization,
research and experimentation expenses, marketing and debt restructuring. Along
with regional financial resources, loans for investments may also be underwritten
within the scope of PSR, Regional Sector Plans.
WE ENCOURAGE ENTREPRENEURSHIP
AND GENERATIONAL TURNOVER
IN AGRICULTURE.
THE NATIONAL LAND BODY
FOR OVER 60 YEARS
ISMEA, in its role as the National Land
Body, has promoted the creation
and growth of farmland for 60 years,
encouraging generational turnover in
agriculture.
Purchasing land to then lease to
famers is done with the support
of ISMEA’s Investment Group for
Development, 100% owned by ISMEA.
ISMEA also acts as an appraiser
and advisor to assist with the
privatization of publically-owned
lands.
TOOLS FOR YOUNG FARMERS
ISMEA encourages young farmers
(under 40) entering the field with
several different tools: subsidies
for new operations, low-interest
loans and grants for investments
and assistance with operational
expenses.
ISMEA’s Investment Group for
Development helps encourage young
farmers take the reins with monies
from a special fund that covers
up to 90% of the investment. This
ensures that a decision can be made
within 6 months of receiving the
documentation.
THE VENTURE CAPITAL FUND
Thanks to the venture capital fund, managed with the operative support of the
company, Ismea Investimenti per lo Sviluppo, ISMEA promotes the capitalization
of agro-food firms and investments through venture capital and participatory
loans.

RISK MANAGEMENT TOOLS
FOR THE AGRICULTURE FIRMS
THE FIRST RATING MODEL FOR FARMS
In collaboration with Moody’s KMV, ISMEA has developed the first targeted rating
model in Italy to assess the credit worthiness of farms, including those that do
not produce annual financial statements.
The rating service provides an analysis and insolvency assessment model using
ISMEA’s database and analysis and risk management knowhow.
ISMEA’s rating is also used to determine a preliminary credit rating prior to
issuing a first call guarantee (to determine risk) and during the appraisal stage for
land consolidation.
OUR RANGE OF TOOLS
AND INSURANCE SERVICES
ISMEA provides insurance services
and tools to help ensure insurance
product diversification by providing
new agricultural sector income
protection policies and lowering
production and market risks.
OUR FIGURES
10,1 billion euro: loans covered by ISMEA’s subsidiary underwriting.
40%: percentage of loans underwritten for young people.
31%: startups
With our agricultural risk database,
ISMEA supports public agricultural
risk management interventions
and provides information on risk
prevention.
We also experiment with cuttingedge policies and analysis for the
insurance sector.
Through the Reinsurance Fund,
ISMEA compensates agricultural
risks covered by special insurance
policies and encourages multi-risk
policies.
With the Co–Reinsurance
Consortium, ISMEA encourages
cutting-edge insurance policies
against natural disasters and
adverse weather conditions by
dividing the risk among consortium
members (insurers and reinsurers).
The aim is to foster partnerships
between the public and private
sectors.
