PSAT Exam at CDL October 2015

CDL will offer the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) on Wednesday 14 October, 2015. This is an
optional exam for students who will be in Grades 10/11, IG2, IB1, 2nde and 1ère during the 2015-2016 school
year.
What is the PSAT and who should take it?
The PSAT is an excellent preparation for the SAT or ACT exams. Students considering applying to universities
in the United States should take the PSAT in October, and plan to take the SAT or ACT exams later in their
G11/IB1/premiere year. Students may take the PSAT in the equivalent of grade 10 and then again in grade 11.
Also, students in the High School Diploma (Grade 11) at CDL should consider taking the PSAT. High School
Diploma students usually need SAT or ACT exam scores for applications to universities in Canada, Japan, Ecole
Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) and other countries in Europe and Asia where the exams are required for
students with a U.S.-style diploma or AP subjects.

Students must register in advance to take the PSAT. If you would like to register your child for the PSAT,
please complete the attached form and return it to the College and Careers Office (CR172), or to Ms. Oshima
([email protected]) by June 5, 2015.

CDL offrira le test préliminaire PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) qui se déroulera le mecredi 14
octobre 2015. Ceci est un test facultatif destiné aux élèves qui seront en classe de G10/G11/IG2/IB1/2 nde et 1ère
durant l’année scolaire 2015-2016.
Qu’est-ce l’examen PSAT et qui devrait le faire ?
Le test PSAT est une excellente préparation pour les examens SAT ou ACT. Les élèves qui envisagent de
s’inscrire aux universités aux Etats-Unis, devraient passer le test PSAT en octobre et prévoir de passer les
examens SAT ou ACT plus tard pendant leur année G11/IB1 ou 1ère. Les élèves en G10/IG2/seconde peuvent
également passer le test PSAT et puis une nouvelle fois en G11/IB1/première.
Les élèves du High School Diploma (G11) du CDL devraient également prévoir de passer le test PSAT. Les élèves
du High School Diploma ont généralement besoin les points des examens SAT et ACT pour s’inscrire aux
universités au Canada, Japon, Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) et à des universités en Europe et Asie où les
examens sont nécessaires pour les étudiants ayant un diplôme de type américain ou des sujets AP.

There is no exam fee. However, if a student fails to attend the exam without advance notification to CDL, you
may be charged for the exam costs (approximately 25 CHF).

Special Accommodations for students with learning disabilities: Complete this section if your child requests
special accommodations
Students with documented learning disabilities who have a current accommodation plan with CDL’s Learning
Support Services (LSS) Office may request special accommodations to take the PSAT (e.g. extra time, extra and
extended breaks, reading and seeing accommodations). CDL must apply for the accommodations with the
College Board. Students must return this registration form and the College Board Parent consent form no
later than 5 June, 2015 to be able to request special accommodations. No late requests are possible due to
College Board approval deadlines.
