² Association Défis Jeunes pour le Développement - ADJD

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’ADJD a
mené
plusieurs
actions de sensibilisation :
- Auprès des autorités de la ville de Cotonou et du gouvernement via le
Ministère de la Famille, de la Protection Sociale et de la Solidarité, en
vue d’une proclamation officielle de la Journée au Bénin ;
- Auprès des médias afin d’informer l’opinion publique sur l’existence
de cette Journée. Six journaux ont publié des articles sur cette
commémoration : L’Autre Quotidien, Le Matin, La Nation, La Nouvelle
Tribune et Le Point au Quotidien ;
- Auprès des enseignants pour qu’ils se mobilisent et deviennent le
relais de cette information ;
- Auprès des enfants de sept écoles primaires et de deux structures
d’accueil, soit environ 1300 enfants. Des informations relatives aux
droits de l’enfant ainsi qu’à la prévention des abus leur ont été
données. Les enfants ont ainsi pu partager leurs connaissances et
leurs expériences sur ces thèmes.
Afin de poursuivre la diffusion de ces messages de prévention des abus
envers les enfants, l’ADJD met en place dans les écoles et les collèges
(puis prochainement dans les quartiers), des Clubs Enfants destinés à
servir de relais non seulement à La Journée mondiale, mais aussi à sa
campagne d’éducation à la non-violence active et à la culture de paix.
² Conseil National des Femmes Indépendantes du Bénin - CONAFIB

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, le CONAFIB a organisé une réception à laquelle ont participé plus de
1050 femmes pauvres et 2125 enfants des rues, enfants maltraités, négligés et déscolarisés, venus de 12
départements et 77 communes. Après une explication de la lettre ouverte rédigée par la WWSF, le CONAFIB
a abordé plusieurs thèmes parmi lesquels l’éducation des enfants, les causes de la mortalité enfantine
(mortalité chez les enfants de moins de 10 ans pour cause d’abus), et le problème des enfants souffrant de
rachitisme. Cette journée à permis la réunion de ces femmes et de ces enfants afin qu’ensemble ils puissent
définir leurs propres priorités ainsi qu’une stratégie commune pour leur mise en oeuvre.
² Groupe de Recherche et d'Appui à l'Autopromotion durable à la Base - GRAAB

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, le GRAAB a développé différentes activités:
- Organisation de discussions et débats avec les enfants de 20 écoles (5 communes) sur différents thèmes
liés aux abus envers les enfants (maltraitance, trafic, exploitation sexuelle);
- Sensibilisation des parents sur leur rôle dans la lutte contre les abus envers les enfants;
- Mise en place de mouvements villageois dans 15 villages de 5 communes, pour la lutte contre le trafic et
les abus envers les enfants. Une équipe de bénévoles sensibilise, forme et informe les parents sur les
droits de l’enfant;
- Sensibilisation des ONG et des autorités locales sur leur rôle dans la lutte contre le trafic et les abus
envers les enfants: informer les parents et les enfants sur leurs droits et leurs devoirs;
- Mise en place dans chaque école d’un mouvement pour la non-violence, la tolérance et la paix (réunion
trimestrielle);
- Création dans chaque école d’un conseil de parents d’élèves et d’enseignants pour informer les parents
sur les droits de l’enfant parmi lesquels le droit à l’éducation (réunion mensuelle).
² ONG Monde Vie Liberté

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’ONG Monde Vie Liberté a lancé une émission télévisée “Planète
Jeunes”, qui consiste en des reportages radio-télévisés sur le thème de l’exploitation sexuelle des enfants.

² Organisation Non Gouvernementale pour le suivi de la population en matière
d’Education, de Santé et d’Environnement - ONG ESE Bénin

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’ONG ESE Bénin a organisé une activité de sensibilisation et
d’éducation sur les droits de l’enfant auprès d’une soixantaine d’enfants du 10ème arrondissement de la ville
de Cotonou. Les thèmes abordés ont été les suivants: le travail des enfants, le trafic d’enfants, les abus
sexuels. Cette journée a été l’occasion pour les enfants d’apprendre le numéro gratuit à composer pour
demander du secours à la police ou à la brigade de protection des mineurs. Le matériel de la WWSF a servi
de support aux activités organisées.
BURUNDI
² Action pour le Soutien et l’Assistance Mutuels - ASAM

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale,
l’ASAM a réalisé plusieurs activités
du 22 au 30 novembre :
- Des émissions radiodiffusées et
télévisées sur différentes stations
du pays : sensibilisation sur la
Journée mondiale, les différentes
formes d’abus et la nécessité de
développer des mesures de
prévention ;
- Une collecte de vêtements et de
biens (matériel scolaire, produits
alimentaires) en faveur des
enfants en difficulté ;
- Une journée de sensibilisation et
de réflexion sur les abus commis
sur les enfants dans la capitale.
Après le mot de circonstance du
représentant légal de l’ASAM
(objectifs de la Journée mondiale et appel aux autorités pour une plus grande implication dans la lutte
contre les abus envers les enfants), les différentes formes d’abus ont été exposées et suivies d’une
conférence-débat sur le thème « 1993-2004 : long calvaire pour l’enfant au Burundi ». Des travaux en
groupe ont donné lieu à plusieurs souhaits et recommandations parmi lesquels, la création de
commissions de prévention au niveau des zones administratives. Les participants se sont également
engagés à constituer une coalition pour mener des actions de prévention concrètes et efficaces.

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, ces trois organisations ont commencé leurs activités par une marche
pacifique de 3 Km composée d’enfants des écoles primaires portant des banderoles et des pancartes avec
des messages tels que « Eduquez-nous sans discrimination », « Protégez-nous contre les dangers », « Les
enfants demandent des comptes aux chefs d’Etat », etc. Cette marche a été suivie de discours, de poèmes
et de recommandations émises par les enfants, destinées aux adultes et aux autorités publiques. 457
personnes au total, parmi lesquelles des enfants, des enseignants, des membres d’associations et autres
invités ont assisté à cette journée d’activités.
² Solidarité Burundaise pour Secourir les Vulnérables en Afrique - SOBUSEVA

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, la SOBUSEVA a organisé une série
d’activités : des discours destinés à sensibiliser la société civile sur les
droits de l’enfant et la nécessité de prévenir les abus ; une marche avec
des enfants de la ville de Bujumbura scandant des slogans pour dire non à
la violence et réclamer le respect de leurs droits ; des danses traditionnelles
et des tambours ; un match de football entre gardiens de la paix et enfants
des rues, etc.
Les représentants des autorités politiques, policières, les représentants de
plusieurs organisations ainsi que les directeurs de collèges privés ont
assisté à la journée.
CAMEROON
² Cameroon Association for the Protection and Education of the Child - CAPEC

To mark the World Day, CAPEC organized public debates, Round Tables, exhibitions, as well as film
projections. Posters were published and a program of action to prevent child sexual abuse was submitted to
the Government. CAPEC also visited several Primary Schools, a prison (juvenile section) and some families,
especially teenage mothers to raise awareness of their rights and the importance of prevention of child
abuse.
² Cameroon Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect - CASPCAN

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, la CASPCAN a participé aux activités organisées au plan national (du 8
au 22 novembre) qui avaient pour objectif: ™ La formation des professionnels de l’enfance à la prévention
des mauvais traitements envers les enfants š La sensibilisation des populations et des pouvoirs publics.
- Du 8 au 13 novembre, la CASPCAN a participé, en qualité d’expert, à la revue sectorielle 2004 du
programme “Protection spéciale des enfants” dans le cadre de la coopération Gouvernement

Camerounais/UNICEF, puis à l’atelier d’élaboration d’un plan intégré de communication pour ce
programme ;
Du 13 au 19 novembre, la CASPCAN, en partenariat avec d’autres organisations (African Women
Association et l’Association Jeunesse Avenir), a organisé une semaine de sensibilisation des populations
sur la Convention relative aux droits de l’enfant, suivie d’une grande manifestation dans un établissement
scolaire de la ville de Yaoundé. Les jeunes enfants ont animé cette journée avec des chants, des poèmes
et des sketches sur le thème du respect des droits de l’enfant. Ont participé à cette manifestation des
élèves, des enseignants, des parents, des associations, et les autorités administratives, politiques,
traditionnelles et religieuses. Cette occasion a permis à la CASPCAN de partager le résultat de plusieurs
de ses études. A la suite de l’une d’elles, le Ministère de la Santé Publique a demandé aux hôpitaux
publics la mise sous traitement anti-rétroviral gratuite de tout enfant victime d’abus sexuel ;
Du 18 au 22 novembre, la CASPCAN est intervenue dans le cadre de l’atelier de formation des
formateurs organisé par le Ministère de la Justice, le Ministère des Affaires Sociales et l’UNICEF. Ses
communications étaient axées sur les stratégies de prévention et de prise en charge des victimes d’abus
sexuels.
² Women's Promotion and Assistance Association - WOPA

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, la
WOPA a lancé une campagne médiatique
à la radio locale le 18 novembre pour
sensibiliser la population au problème des
abus. Elle a également distribué des
brochures sur les différentes formes d’abus
dans les écoles privées et publiques ainsi
que sur les marchés. Le lendemain, la
WOPA a organisé une conférence sur les
thèmes suivants : « La jeunesse face au
VIH/SIDA », « Les abus envers les
enfants » et « Les jeunes et les nouvelles
technologies de l’information et de la
communication » expliquant notamment
les dangers de la pédophilie sur Internet, et
elle a présenté une pièce de théâtre sur le
trafic des enfants.
² Youth Development Centre - YDC

To mark the World Day, YDC carried out several activities both in the rural and urban areas:
- Preparation and distribution of leaflets entitled “information sheet on prevention of child abuse”;
- Visits to schools. Lectures on child rights and various forms of child abuse were delivered in three Primary
Schools;
- Mass sensitization campaign. About 2000 leaflets were distributed.
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
² Action Chrétienne pour la Justice l’Egalité et le Développement - ACJED

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’ACJED a organisé des activités de sensibilisation auprès des enfants
victimes ainsi que de leur famille, sur les différents types de violences et procédures judiciaires existants. Des
plaintes ont ensuite été déposées par les enfants et leurs familles auprès des différentes juridictions de
Kinshasa et des mémorandums préparés par les ONG membres de la plateforme ACJED, soutenant ces
plaintes, ont été adressés aux autorités. La journée a été clôturée par une conférence-débat sur le thème
« Lutte contre le harcèlement sexuel et le tourisme sexuel », organisée dans 5 écoles de la ville. Une
centaine d’élèves, des enseignants ainsi que plusieurs ONG ont participé à cette conférence.

² Action Humanitaire pour la Paix et le Développement - AHUPADE

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’AHUPADE a organisé trois journées d’activités dans trois communes
de la ville de Kindu (Mikelenge, Kasuku et Alunguli). Ces journées se sont déroulées de la manière suivante :
ouverture de la journée par le maire de la ville, discours du président de l’AHUPADE et pièce de théâtre sur
« Les conséquences de la vie future des enfants enrôlés dans les groupes armés ». En soirée, un sketch sur
le mariage précoce a été diffusé à la radio.
² Arche d’Alliance - ARAL

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, ARAL a organisé des activités de sensibilisation communautaire sur la
prévention des abus envers les enfants et les jeunes du 15 au 19 novembre :
- Douze conférences-débats animées par des jeunes d’Uvira dans 12 écoles sur les différentes formes
d’abus commis envers les enfants et les mécanismes de prévention applicables;
- La pose, par des jeunes, d’affiches (420) et de banderoles (4) sur la voie publique pour sensibiliser la
population à la prévention des abus ;
- La diffusion d’annonces faites par des enfants à la radio locale, matin et soir, pour interpeller les
éducateurs et autres acteurs sociaux sur leur rôle dans la protection des enfants contre les abus;
- L’organisation d’une journée de réflexion à l’attention des autorités publiques, des jeunes, des éducateurs
et des responsables de centres d’encadrement de jeunes, sur l’impact négatif des abus commis sur les
enfants. 65 personnes étaient présentes;
- L’organisation d’une journée culturelle à l’attention des jeunes et des éducateurs. 135 personnes ont
assisté et participé aux activités (poèmes, chansons, danses, pièces de théâtre et discours sur le thème
des abus).
Sept associations du réseau RAPDE (Réseau des Associations chargées de la protection des Droits de
l’Enfant) ont participé aux activités commémoratives.
² Association des Femmes pour l'Education à La Santé et au Développement AFESAD
Kikwit Sacré-Coeur, Ville de Kikwit, District du Kwilu, Province de Bandundu, D. R. Congo
A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’AFESAD a organisé une conférence-débat sur le thème « Grossesse
en milieu scolaire, un phénomène inquiétant » ; une émission de radio en collaboration avec l’émission Beto
ne beto ba jeunes (Entre nous les jeunes) sur les thèmes « Causes et conséquences des rapports sexuels
des jeunes », « Avortements provoqués en milieu scolaire », « Jeunes et Sida » et « Pourquoi les jeunes
sont-ils victimes d’abus sexuels » ; et une rencontre éducative sur les thèmes des abus sexuels et du Sida.
² Association pour la Promotion et la Défense des Droits des Enfants et des Femmes APRODEF

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’APRODEF a organisé une manifestation dont l’activité principale a été
un marathon accompagné par la distribution de documents éducatifs sur la prévention des abus envers les
enfants. Le gouverneur de la province du Maniema était présent lors de cet événement qui a attiré la
population de la ville.
² Centre d’Hébergement et d’Encadrement des enfants en situation difficile CEHEBEDI
BP 9689, Kinshasa, D. R. Congo
A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, le CEHEBEDI a organisé une série de conférences sur le thème central
« Quelles stratégies pour freiner les abus perpétrés sur les enfants ». L’après-midi, la parole a été donnée
aux enfants. Ils ont joué une saynète sur l’exploitation sexuelle des enfants et autres formes d’abus et ont
présenté une pièce de théâtre sur le travail des enfants et autres traitements dégradants. Après examen de
cas ciblés, tels que les enfants pêcheurs, les enfants meuniers, les enfants esclaves, etc., un certain nombre
de participants a pris l’engagement de veiller au respect des droits de l’enfant et de dénoncer tout acte de
nature à porter atteinte à sa dignité. A cette fin, 5 brigades de protection de l’enfant ont été créées (les
dénonciations seront reçues par une cellule qui transmettra les cas graves aux juridictions compétentes).

Les autorités politico-administratives locales, les chefs coutumiers, les parents, les enseignants, les
encadreurs sociaux, les membres d’ONG, les élèves, les étudiants, les responsables d’associations de
femmes, les détenteurs de moulins, de débits de boissons, d’hôtels et autres services engageant des enfants
étaient présents.
² Genre et Actions Sociales - GASO

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, le GASO a organisé plusieurs activités visant à une amélioration du
respect des droits de l’enfant et à une vulgarisation de la Convention relative aux droits de l’enfant :
- Des rencontres avec les acteurs sociaux ainsi qu’avec les autorités politiques et militaires sur la nécessité
d’améliorer l’environnement socio-économique garantissant le droit des enfants à l’éducation (notamment
des filles), à la protection, à la santé, etc. ;
- L’identification des maisons de tolérance dans le territoire de Kabare, où l’on retrouve des jeunes filles
exploitées sexuellement au profit de femmes prostituées âgées ;
- L’étude des causes de l’exploitation sexuelle des enfants dans la périphérie de Bukavu (la pauvreté
notamment).
Pour lutter contre cet état des choses, le GASO envisage d’agir en vue de la réinsertion scolaire, de lutter
contre la pauvreté, de sensibiliser la communauté, de recourir à un assistant judiciaire pour la préparation
des dossiers juridiques, etc.
² Groupe de Voix des Sans Voix - GVSV

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, le GVSV a organisé une réunion d’évaluation sur l’état des violations et
abus des droits des enfants en territoire d’Uvira et Fizi, réfléchissant à cette occasion sur les mesures de
protection et de prévention adéquates en la matière.
² Initiatives Chrétiennes pour le Développement / Christian Initiatives for Development
- “iChred-Chrid”

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, iChred-Chrid a lancé un appel de détresse aux responsables politicomilitaires, aux seigneurs de guerre et aux membres de la société civile contre le recrutement des enfants
dans l’armée. Un recueil a été imprimé pour que ce message soit largement diffusé et pour aider la
population à adopter une attitude efficace face à ce problème. Il sera distribué dans les écoles, les églises,
les ONG de droits de l’Homme et plus particulièrement de droits de l’enfant, ainsi que dans les lieux
stratégiques. A l’occasion de la journée, plusieurs allocutions ont également été prononcées et une pièce de
théâtre a été jouée par des enfants sur le thème: “Ne nous emmenez plus au front”.
Les autorités politiques et locales, les représentants des églises, les membres d’associations de
développement, les responsables éducatifs et de nombreux enfants ont participé à cette journée.
Les médias du Sud-Kivu ont couvert les activités.
² Jeunesse Anti-Maladies Sexuellement Transmissibles et Sida - JAMST/SIDA

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, JAMST/SIDA a mené une série d’activités du 19 au 26 novembre :
- Le 19 novembre, trois conférences-débats ont été organisées sur les thèmes suivants : ™ Abus sexuels
et économiques et mesures conservatoires prévues dans la législation congolaise š Les conséquences
des abus sexuels et économiques sur la scolarisation des enfants dans la ville de Kananga › La loi de
1950 sur l’enfant délinquant. Les débats ont été suivis par la projection d’un film sur les abus sexuels en
R.D. Congo. 546 personnes étaient présentes ;
- Le 20 novembre, quatre pièces de théâtre ont été jouées par les enfants sur les thèmes suivants : ™ Les
enfants travailleurs et l’école š Les abus sexuels et leurs conséquences sur le VIH/SIDA › Les jeunes à
l’heure du VIH/SIDA œ Les enfants creuseurs de diamants et l’école.
- Du 21 au 26 novembre, des séances de plaidoyer, des rencontres éducatives ainsi que des activités de
sensibilisation sur les abus ont été réalisées auprès des églises, des écoles et des foyers.

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’organisation les Amis de la Paix a animé une émission radiophonique
sur une station communautaire chrétienne, mettant l'emphase sur le thème des abus envers les enfants des
rues. Après avoir relevé les différents effets que peuvent avoir ces abus, les orateurs ont fait état de la
législation nationale et internationale en vigueur puis ont formulé quelques recommandations à l'Etat, à la
société civile, à la population locale ainsi qu’aux parents.
² Les Anges du Ciel

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, les Anges du Ciel a organisé une petite marche avec des enfants.
² Oeuvre Sociale pour les Amis Chrétiens - OSAC
2243 rue Bukavu, Quartier Ville Haute, Ciné Palace, Commune de Matadi, D. R. Congo
A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’OSAC a organisé une conférence sur les abus envers les enfants en
République Démocratique du Congo au sein de la paroisse Sainte Christine (Commune de Bakala). L’accent
a été mis sur le problème de l’éducation des enfants ainsi que sur les abus liés à la situation de guerre.
Parmi les solutions proposées figurent l’organisation de campagnes de vulgarisation sur les droits de l’enfant
et la diffusion de brochures traitant du problème des enfants abusés. Des élèves ainsi que des représentants
de la police, des écoles, des églises et des ONG étaient présents.
² Programme d'Appui pour le Développement de la Femme et de l'Enfant du Congo PADEFECO

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, le PADEFECO a organisé différentes activités constituées de discours
sur la Convention relative aux Droits de l’Enfant et sur la prévention des abus, de saynètes présentées par
des élèves, de concours de dessin et d’une pièce de théâtre sur les abus. Plus de 50 personnes ont participé
à la Journée.
² Soutien aux Initiatives Familiales - SIFA

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, le SIFA a mené une campagne de lutte contre les violences sexuelles
en déférant devant les tribunaux, les auteurs de viols sur mineurs. Le lendemain, l’organisation a animé deux
conférences sur le tourisme et le harcèlement sexuels.

tolerance for child abuse;

Successes of the event:
- Thirteen media representatives (print and electronic) attended the commemoration;
- The Mayor of the municipality issued a proclamation against child abuse for the residents of Zomba. He
committed himself and his office to doing everything possible for the success of all anti-child abuse
campaigns;
- The government committed itself to protecting and promoting the rights of the child.

criminal justice and the law enforcement perspective in Nigeria. The performance was followed by a
discussion on child abuse. The WWSF World Day posters were reproduced and letters of invitation were
distributed to schools, parents and teachers associations. About 350 people participated in the event
including four divisional police officers, students and the media (newspaper and TV).

children”; and required them to send delegates for the rally organized in Benin City. A lecture was given,
addressing the issue of child abuse and neglect, and materials were distributed.

To mark the World Day, WACCA organized activities on the theme “Promoting the rights of the child through
Adequate Science Education”. Primary school children participated in science quizzes, science projects,
dances and a march. WACCA also continued to sensitize the government to carry on with the celebration of
the World Day as an annual event in
Anambra State. A grassroots integration
approach was adopted by the government.
All primary schools of Anambra State were
given the opportunity of participating in a
press conference as well as in other
activities. The best performing school was
selected to present its program on Nigerian
Television of Anambra State on 19
November. More than 2500 persons
watched the program and were educated
and sensitized on the importance of
preventing child abuse.
Other activities were organized: at Ebonyi
State, SPEB established a child abuse unit
and at Isuanocha, a faith based organization
marked the Day through a door-to-door
mobilization of children who are not in
schools. Children and parents were trained

government officers, stakeholders and illiterate and semi-illiterate parents attended;
- Distribution of 1000 leaflets in local and English languages;
- Radio talks on Radio Nigeria by pupils and Youthcare 2000 and Beyond. Radio Nigeria covered six States
i.e. 20 million people.
SENEGAL

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’UCJG/ YMCA a organisé un forum en collaboration avec des
mouvements de jeunes et des ONG. Les différentes interventions, suivies de groupes de travail et de débats,
ont donné naissance à l’élaboration de recommandations pour une amélioration des conditions de vie des
enfants et d’un plan d’action déterminant les activités à mener: conférences, journées de sensibilisation,
formations, création d’une coalition, etc. Le lendemain, des rencontres avec les enfants sur le thème des
pires formes de travail ont été organisées. Les enfants se sont exprimés sur le sujet par voie de sketches,
dénonçant les traitements dont ils font souvent l’objet.
Le message de prévention lancé par l’UCJG/ YMCA est allé à 30 leaders d’organisations, à plus de 350
enfants et à une centaine de parents.
SOMALIA
² Somali Child Protection and Development - SOCPD

shared information about the World Day and the rights of the child, and requested the Government to add

and to declare 19 November as a National Day for Prevention of Child Abuse.

of the child in South Africa and in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Songs, dances and poems were also

country. Recommendations were made by the CDHD to the Congolese government and former belligerent
groups (to speed up the process of demilitarization and integration of child soldiers into the community; to
respect the rights of minors in conflict zones; and to condemn the recruitment of children in armed groups as
well as sexual exploitation of girls).

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, COALPRODEF (Coalition des ONG et Associations de Lutte pour la
Promotion et la Protection des Droits des Enfants et des Femmes) a organisé une série de manifestations
dans les préfectures de Kloto et d’Agou. Après avoir présenté la Journée, la coalition a insisté sur
l’importance d’une lutte commune destinée à protéger les enfants des différentes formes d’abus. Des
messages ainsi qu’un mémorandum adressé aux autorités - demandant à ce qu’une attention particulière soit
portée aux enfants et soulignant l’importance de la prévention des abus corporels à l’école et à la maison ont été lus et suivis de rencontres éducatives et ludiques (jeux, musique, chansons). Les autorités, les
directeurs d’écoles, les enseignants et les parents d’élèves ont assisté à ces manifestations.

ils ont offert des fauteuils roulant leur permettant de reprendre l’école.

A l’occasion de la Journée mondiale, l’OVAD-AP a organisé une série d’activités au sein de l’école primaire
publique de la ville d’Afagnan: Le traditionnel mot de bienvenue du Directeur de l’école insistant sur
l’importance de cette journée a été suivi par l’ouverture d’une kermesse. Après avoir participé à plusieurs
activités ludiques, les enfants ont adressé un message aux autorités administratives, aux autorités
traditionnelles et aux parents, demandant le respect de leurs droits. L’OVAD-AP a ensuite animé un exposédébat sur le thème “Respect des droits des enfants et évolution sociale”. L’accent a alors été mis sur le
problème des punitions corporelles dans les écoles rurales et sur le peu d’importance accordée à l’éducation
des filles. Des conseils utiles ont été prodigués aux parents, enseignants et autres instances scolaires par
des experts. Le souspréfet de la région est
ensuite intervenu, invitant
chacun
à
prendre
conscience
des
responsabilités qui sont

To mark the World Day, FCOSS promoted the “National Week for the Care of Children” from 15 to 19

workshops were on the air at “Fiji Gold”, the Fiji Broadcasting Commission Ltd. The broadcast was based on
“Family care and caring for the child”.
² Women’s Information Network Fiji - WINET

To mark the World Day, WINET organized a one-day workshop. Held at the Fiji College of Education, it
attracted many grassroots women. The activities included:
- A poster competition on child abuse and prevention. Primary schools in Nasinu town and its suburbs
participated. A UNICEF’s Representative for the Pacific launched the workshop, spoke about who is
responsible for preventing child abuse and awarded prizes to four winners ($25 to 100);
- A conference. Various experts such as the Assistant Director of the Social Welfare Department - Ministry
of Women, the Deputy Coordinator of the Fiji Women’s Center, a children’s Doctor and Specialist in Child
Health Care, a Lawyer and a Police Officer talked about child rights, child abuse and ways of prevention;
- A short drama on child abuse in the family entitled: “Don’t abuse our children” performed by Primary
school children;
- A workshop. A case study on child abuse was used to initiate discussion with participants;
A workshop evaluation was planned to monitor the spread of information to families and the community at the
grassroots level.
The Fiji Media gave a very good coverage to activities organized by WINET on 19 November:
- The Fiji Television during prime time news at 6, 7 and 10 PM. Key speakers also commented on issues of
prevention of child abuse;
- The Fiji Times and the Daily Post published articles on child abuse and on World Day activities.

- On 19 November, special activities were arranged in about 5’789 schools, led by more than 24’000
Government teachers. About 3.5 million children and 3 million parents were informed about child rights,
child abuse, how to protect children and how to prevent abuse;
- On 19 November, 5’789 walks were organized by schools to made the people sensitive to child abuse;
- From 13 to 19 November, about 2 million women were informed by the organization “Lady Health
Workers” LHWs about child rights, child abuse and prevention;
- Special programs on child rights, child abuse and prevention were broadcasted on the Buraq Radio
Station Sialkot;
- Articles on activities organized were published in all national Newspapers, informing about 5 million
people about the World Day.

group on Substance Abuse Prevention Education; Personal Safety and Protective Behavior against Child
Sexual Abuse; Para-legal Education; Primary Health Care; STI/HIV-AIDS Prevention Education; and the UN
Convention on the Rights of the Child. Sessions were followed by discussions, games and other recreational
activities. About 166 street children participated.

Child. Slogans and posters made by children were displayed, songs were sung by the Early Childhood Care

To mark the World Day, the PREDA Advocacy Theatre Group traveled to Australia to participate in the 4th
Annual Youth Conference in Sidney (8-10 November). It performed at the opening of the conference which
was attended by family support workers, social workers, teachers, youth, and representatives from
governmental and non-governmental agencies. PREDA also presented its program for sexually abused girls
focusing on emotional release therapy that allows girls to express their inner anger and emotions in a positive
way.
SRI LANKA
² Samasevaya

To mark the World Day, Samasevaya organized four activities:
- A radio-debate on prevention of child abuse with experts: “Can children prevent by themselves abuse or
do they need adults/parents assistance?”. The half hour debate was broadcasted on 19 November on the
local radio of Rajarata FM (Channel listened to by thousands of children and adults);
- An article on child abuse and prevention programs published in the Mihira Children’s Newspaper, which is
read by most of the children in Sri Lanka, as well as in Dinamina, another popular newspaper;
- A commemoration Day to educate parents and civil society leaders on how to protect children from abuse.
About 100 adults and parents as well as the police and religious leaders participated.
- A children’s camp to educate them on how to prevent child abuse had been organized in August (school
holidays). About 200 young children (10 to 15) were educated by the Health Ministry and NGOs on child
development. At the end of the camp, children shared their knowledge with religious and social leaders,
state officials and parents via music, songs and drama.

En el marco del Día mundial, la Asociación El Trapito organizó un Taller dirigido al personal administrativo
(preceptores) de las escuelas secundarias, del barrio de La Boca (Ciudad de Buenos Aires), que están en
contacto con los adolescentes para capacitarlos y darles herramientas de trabajo, para que puedan
reconocer los casos de abuso y maltrato, orientar en primera instancia a la víctima y proceder a su
derivación para el adecuado tratamiento. Al Taller asistieron 30 personas, que trabajaron en grupos con
textos de cuentos e historias infantiles, en los que se plantea, indirectamente, una situación de abuso o
maltrato.

la Cámara de Diputados de la Provincia de Santa Fe, un proyecto de declaración para que la Cámara

REAL requested the Canadian Members of Parliament to have the age of consent raised to at least 16
years of age o Child pornography. REAL denounced the inadequacy of the child pornography law p
Luring children on the Internet. REAL pointed up that Canadian children are more easily exploited by
cross-border paedophiles because of the low age of consent and because 99 % of them have access to
the Internet;
- Preparation and distribution of an article on the dangers of Internet for children to all the major
newspapers in Canada and of a pamphlet entitled “paedophiles luring your child on the Internet”, widely
distributed across Canada.

planificación y puesta en marcha de la campaña “Sólo por Hoy”
(Just for Today) - implementada en 2003 -, en alianza principal con
la organización Plan Internacional - Programa Colombia. La
campaña “Sólo por Hoy” busca sensibilizar y transformar los
pensamientos violentos en acciones de afecto. El programa para la
celebración del 19 de noviembre, formó parte de una estrategia de
campaña promovida desde seis meses antes: Reunión inicial en
PLAN internacional, grabación en audio de los mensajes de la
campaña “Sólo por Hoy” con destino a las comunidades de las
regiones Pacífica y Atlántica, reuniones del comité organizador,
impresión de tarjetas con mensajes de la campaña “sólo por hoy”,
información a través de la prensa, publicación en los diarios,
entrevistas en radios, televisión, realización de alianzas para la
celebración en Bogotá con:
- La senadora Alexandra Moreno Piraquive: presentación de dos
proyectos de ley referentes a la problemática del abuso sexual
infantil; organización de un Foro sobre abuso sexual infantil en el
recinto del Senado de la República, con transmisión en directo
por la televisión nacional; y tiraje de Tarjetas con los mensajes de
la Campaña “Sólo por Hoy”, distribuidas entre integrantes de su movimiento político MIRA en 82 sedes en
Colombia;
- La Policía de Menores de Bogotá: divulgación en las calles del D.C., con 3 puntos rotativos en vías
principales de la ciudad, donde auxiliares bachilleres de policía, apoyados por agentes profesionales
soportaron a través de una pieza de teatro, un pasacalles y la entrega de 7.000 tarjetas a conductores;

Bogotá, entregando tarjetas a los pasajeros luego de informarles acerca de la iniciativa y sensibilizarles
frente a la necesidad de prevenir el maltrato y la violencia hacia los niños;
- El Hospital Universitario Clínica San Rafael: Impresión y distribución de 5.000 tarjetas entre sus usuarios
y empleados, firma del Acta de Compromiso de empleados y directivas de no maltratar a los niños y niñas
de sus familias y no ejercer violencia al interior de la familia, realización de un acto alusivo al Día del 19
de noviembre en las instalaciones de la Clínica, con la firma del Acta, la presentación de niños, niñas y
jóvenes intérpretes con asistencia de, aproximadamente, 100 personas;
- El Gimnasio Moderno: convocatoria a rectores y directivas de colegios de Bogotá y promoción de la
Campaña “Sólo por Hoy” entre la comunidad educativa del Gimnasio Moderno;
Otras organizaciones de carácter local y regional celebraron el Día en Colombia con charlas y lecturas de
reflexión sobre el tema; obras de teatro; actos culturales folclóricos con temáticas alusivas al tema; marchas
con pancartas con mensajes sobre el tema ; una marcha con participantes vestidos de blanco; la visita de
escuelas para sensibilizar a los maestros y a las madres comunitarias acerca del no maltrato; un acto
académico con la población sobre la violencia intra-familiar y los Derechos Humanos; una presentación
sobre cada uno de los temas de “Solo por hoy… todos los días”; la entrega de las tarjetas puerta a puerta a
la comunidad; un encuentro entre generaciones para promover la campaña y entregar los tarjetones; la
entrega de las tarjetas a los respectivos Alcaldes para que las distribuyan entre la comunidad; etc.
Las actividades impactaron en comunidades relativamente pequeñas, locales y regionales, y en la medida
en que los medios masivos hablaron de la celebración, impactaron en todo el país.
En 2005, gracias a la Asociación Afecto, numerosas organizaciones colombianas se unieron a la coalición
internacional de la WWSF conmemorando el Día mundial para la prevención del abuso contra los niños.

de todas las edades recorrieron – a bicicleta – 14 Km. de distancia, llamando la atención de la ciudadanía y
autoridades de la región de Arequipa, para que incorporen en sus agendas el 19 de noviembre, como una
fecha importante en favor de la infancia. Cada ciclista portaba una banderola de color blanco con la
inscripción del Día mundial. El CIESCU produjo también numerosos documentos de información: 15
pancartas de tela de 1.50m de ancho y 8.00m de largo fueron confeccionadas y colocadas en principales
avenidas de mayor tránsito de personas y vehículos; 1500 afiches fueron impresos y colocados en ventanas
de buses, vidrieras de comercios, ventillas de bancos, paneles de avisos de organizaciones públicas, etc. y 5
mil panfletos fueron editados y distribuidos en centros educativos, en plazas de la ciudad y enviados junto
con los afiches a otros pueblos. La presencia de algunas autoridades democráticas, personal policial,
personal de la Cruz Roja Peruana, Boy Scouts, etc. contribuyeron al éxito de la celebración del Día Mundial.

where they could draw and paint about “How corporal punishment makes children feel”. EPOCH USA
provided information about the effects of corporal punishment of children and alternatives and distributed
posters and information about the World Day.
² International Child Abuse Network Inc - Yes ICAN

To mark the World Day, Yes ICAN asked and received proclamations from the Governor of California
(Arnold Schwarzenegger), for the second time a proclamation from the Mayor of Los Angeles (James
Hahn), and from the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, designating November 19th as World Day for
Prevention of Child Abuse for L.A and California. Yes ICAN also held its 2nd annual art show at the Canoga
Park Youth Arts Center. Participants were children as of 5 years to 12th grade (which is last year of high
school in United States). They submitted original artwork and poetry on the theme “What Can Children Do?”.
Through the discussions that came about while the children were preparing their submissions, teachers and
parents were able to talk about child abuse prevention. Yes ICAN had so many incredible submissions and
hope to make this an annual event. Moreover, Yes ICAN reserved a special area of its website to provide
information about the World Day as well as the Convention on the Rights of the Child, suggesting several
actions to take with links to assist them in taking suggested steps (over 2000 visitors while on line). In
addition, Yes ICAN disseminated information about the Day to over 700 individuals and organizations via
fliers. Finally, it sent out an e-mail notice several days prior 19 November challenging each recipient to
forward the e-mail to at least 10 of his or her friends and colleagues. By the end of “World Day” in California,
Yes ICAN had sent out 2500 messages.

coalition gave information about child abuse. Children from four schools of Ijevan Town and from schools in
three nearby villages participated.

To mark the World Day, Selbstlaut organized a press conference and an award ceremony in Vienna. WWSF
representative in Austria, Ilse Moser, personally presented the Betty Makoni award to the Network, in the

Non-violence. A panel discussion on the subject of child abuse was organized in the evening, attended
mostly by parents. The Austria Press Agency communicated the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse
and the Prize award to the national media.

To mark the World Day, “Ponimanie”, together with several Belarusian

“Zvestavanne”, held two meetings via radio. Ponimanie also translated
and adapted the WWSF global campaign poster into Russian, printed and
disseminated it to 150 schools, orphanages and NGOs. Meetings on the
World Day and on Child abuse and neglect were also organized as well
as a concert of classical music.

To mark the World Day, the Croatian Music Society Carobna Frula organized two exhibitions and a concert.
- Exhibitions were held in elementary and music schools. A song on child abuse in schools was written by a
Croatian composer. After having listened and sung the song, children shared their opinions and reflections
through art works (drawings and paintings).
- A concert was organized in the People’s University Dubrava. Several choirs from Zagreb participated. A
crowd of people and children attended.
About one thousand of children were involved in the project.

On 19 November various activities were organized:
- The Tartu Child Support Centre talked about the World Day and child abuse on Estonian television;
- Candles were lit by citizens in five popular meeting places in Tartu City Centre;
- Activities were carried out in Tartu Lille Maja: A documentary film about school violence, followed by a
discussion and training on Child Assault Prevention. About 50 people participated.

To mark the World Day, The Smile of the Child launched a one-month campaign to raise awareness about
child abuse and how to protect children. Activities included:
- On 19 November: Issue of press releases on the one-month campaign; broadcasting of TV Spots on the
issue and publication of an “Initial report on child abuse results” with statistics showing how prevalent the
problem is in Greece and how little the issue is known;
- From 1st November to 31 December: Education and presentations on child abuse in several schools and
universities;
- On 16 December: Organization of the “1st Greek National Radio-Television Marathon against child
abuse”. It will become an annual event.
To mark the Day in 2005, The Smile of the Child plans to create a school program to enable teachers to
effectively discuss child abuse issues with their students on 19 November; to organize a new Marathon in
collaboration with the radio and television stations; to broadcast and publish advertisements on television,
radio and newspapers on the Day; and to start a ribbon campaign to raise awareness of the Day.
MACEDONIA

To mark the World Day, the Centre for Human Rights "Amos" Bitola organized a celebration. Children shared
sincere messages about peace, friendship, good education and happy living through paintings, drawings,
recitals, dances and songs. The Centre also sent letters to the President of the Republic of Macedonia and to
the Mayor of Bitola to remind them of the promises made at the UN Special Session on Children (New York
2002) and requested WWSF to include them in the “Walk your Talk” campaign.
SLOVAKIA

To mark the World Day, the Centrum Slniecko NGO organized a national campaign “19 November - World
Day for Prevention of Child Abuse” to inform people about the Day. It was broadcasted on nine radio stations
and one national TV station. Together with 900 volunteers and 4 partner organizations the Centrum
distributed materials about child abuse and neglect in 36 cities and collected money to support centers for
abused children and for victims of domestic violence. Two other partnership organizations also realized
different activities in their regions.

To mark the World Day, the World Alliance of YMCAs promoted the 19 November on its website,
encouraging YMCAs around the world to get involved. In the north of India, Varanasi YMCA marked the
World Day in a big way with street children. The participants were street children of Varanasi who had made
the local railway station their work place and home. Some 100 children, boys and girls (4-16) congregated for
a day's program comprising singing, outdoor games like soccer, skills contest, on-the-spot painting, storytelling and giving of personal testimonies. One such moving testimony was from Alex who shared horror tales
of his days on the streets of Varanasi and now works with Emmanuel Ministries in Mumbai where he is well
settled with a family.
UNITED KINGDOM
² Doncaster Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Centre - DRSACC

To mark the World Day, DRSACC organized activities with other local organizations joining the event and
setting up stalls with leaflets about their work. DRSACC designed a leaflet for the 19 November, handed it out
to passers by and gave balloons to children with labels indicating the purpose of the occasion. A local drama
group, including two young teenagers, put on a play about abuse and domestic violence in the family.
Because the play lasted 10 minutes, it was staged seven times for people who entered the building. A local
councilor came and gave a speech and the local radio attended and carried out an interview with a DRSACC
Development Worker and with the Councilor.
² Stop It Now! UK and Ireland

To mark the World Day, Stop it Now! had an awareness raising public event in the Eagle Centre Market Place
in Derby. Advice and information was offered to help people recognize signs that a child might be at risk of
sexual harm from adults and inform them where to get help. About 500 leaflets were handed out.
UKRAINE

To mark the World Day, the Center conducted several activities:
- Debates among high school children of Kiev and Kiev Oblast on the theme “The Ukrainian Government
should implement new strategies in combating violence against children”;
- A round table with officials on prevention of child abuse (as part of the All-Ukrainian Children’s Forum “The
State that hears children”). Ukrainian Parliament Members, representatives of NGOs and the Ukrainian
Ministry of Child, Youth and Family Affairs attended;
- A poster “What is violence” was designed (in cooperation with UNICEF Ukrainian office) and distributed
among organizations working with children in crisis. It provides definitions of violence and contains phone
numbers of help lines;
- World Day poster distribution to partner NGOs. Some of them implemented similar programs in their local
towns.
