New Colorectal Cancer Screening Program
The Coalition Priorité Cancer au Québec is pleased
Montreal, March 8, 2013 – The Coalition Priorité Cancer au Québec is pleased with today’s
announcement by Dr. Réjean Hébert at the National Forum on the Cancer Research Action Plan
(Forum national sur le Plan d’action en cancérologie) held in Montreal about the Quebec-wide
implementation of the Colorectal Cancer Screening Program based on the fecal occult blood test in eight
demonstration centres.
However, the Coalition would have liked for this program to be accessible throughout all Quebec regions
and, though conscious of resource limitations, urges the Minister of Health and Social Services to speed
up its implementation process so that the entire population may benefit. Early colorectal cancer detection
can save lives.
The Coalition asks the minister to ensure that sufficient resources will be available to the facilities to
guarantee the success of this program’s implementation.
