Connecting heavy-traffic quality to high-class design is a tough destination
Cologne / Bonn Airport: more than ten million people fly from here to more than 130 locations worldwide. Some 50 passenger airlines take off and land here daily, serving over 400 destinations in europe and overseas.
Flughafen Köln / Bonn: Über 10 Mio. Menschen fliegen von hier aus zu mehr als 130 Zielen weltweit. rund 50 passagier-Airlines starten und landen täglich mit über 400 Destina- tionen in europa und Übersee. in the redesign for terminal 1, customized porcelain was used for the galaxy floor tiling. the tile grid of 62.5 cm was matched exactly to the center-to-center distances of the pillars and columns in the terminal. the aim was to avoid having to trim anything as that would potentially have spoiled over-all the aesthetic feel. the requirements for terminal C were even more specialized. Here, galaxy was produced as equilateral triangles, with each side measuring 67.7 cm, thus exactly matching the roof construction, which was also based on triangles.

Aéroport Cologne / Bonn: cet aéroport accueille plus de 10 millions de passagers et dessert quelques 130 destinations à travers le monde. les avions d’une cinquantaine de compagnies aériennes atterrissent et décollent quotidiennement vers plus de 400 destinations en europe et dans le monde. lors du réaménagement du terminal 1, c’est notre carrelage pour sols en grès cérame fin de la série galaxy, conçu spécialement pour le projet, qui a été utilisé. la trame de 62,5 cm du carrelage a été adaptée au milli- mètre près aux axes des colonnes et des piliers du terminal. pour ne pas perturber l’esthétique, les carreaux ne devaient pas être découpés. en ce qui concerne le terminal C, les exigences étaient encore plus spécifiques. le carrelage galaxy, taillé en triangle isocèle de 67,7 cm de côté, reflète à la perfection la forme triangulaire du plafond du hall. plus de 25 000 m² de carrelage pour sols de rAK Ceramics ont été posés dans les deux terminaux. le maté- riau doit répondre à des critères extrêmement rigoureux. en effet, des dizaines de milliers de passagers traversent chaque jour les bâtiments, en tirant souvent derrière eux des bagages pesants. Spécialement conçue pour les aéroports, la série galaxy se caractérise par sa grande stabilité et son excellente résistance. elle obéit également aux exigences de la classe antidérapant r9 pour les lieux publics. la surface des carreaux beige gris est matte et d’un grain fin ; comme l’ont souhaité les architectes, elle présente ainsi un aspect « béton » rappelant celui de l’ancien revêtement.
