With his “Tribute to Mario Lanza,” Maltese tenor
Joseph Calleja bows to one of his big idols,
whom he has admired since he was a child: the
great Mario Lanza. Born in Philadelphia (USA)
in 1921 as the son of Italian immigrants, Lanza
started a career in Hollywood and became, in the
late 1940s and 1950s, one of the most famous tenors
in the world. Joseph Calleja, himself now a star tenor, dedicates
a whole concert program to his idol by singing the melodies,
arias and popular songs that made Mario Lanza unforgettable…
