www.access-alpinespace.eu Pilot activity - mobility Solar boat The upper part of the lake of Neuchâtel is surrounded with villages, small harbours, numerous campsites and one of the biggest nature reserve of Switzerland, the Great Cariçaie, around 40 km wide, between Yverdon and Morat. Three old cities with castles and museums are also along the lake. Nevertheless, the actual boat transportation offers aren’t sufficient to bind the Northern and Southern lakesides. The impact of the solar boat on touristic activities are important : • more opportunities to connect interesting touristic sites to campsites; • ecological way of transportation on the lake offering a complete and adequate approach of the nature reserve. The feasibility study showed that the potential market turns around 10'000 passengers after 4 years. The ideal capacity of the boat is 60 passengers. The cost of the project is about 900'000 € for the boat construction and 40'000 € for different expenses of test, marketing and taxes. A foundation will be created to buy the boat and the operation will be confided to a society with limited liability (ltd). The financial plan and the business plan indicate that the project is profitable.
