Le travail d’Alexandre Perigot se développe à partir d’une observation aiguë des relations entre les
formes de la culture populaire et celles de l’art. À travers différents médiums (vidéos, installations,
photographies, musique, danse, …), ses œuvres mettent en évidence la spectacularisation de notre
société et l’émergence de nouveaux modèles de représentation qu’elle véhicule pour construire une
identité.
La vidéo Krach Audition, réalisée par l’artiste pour l’exposition au centre d’art du Quartier à Quimper,
met en scène la gestuelle de la Bourse comme une dramaturgie des temps modernes. Chaque
mouvement à la baisse est illustré dans les médias par une image de trader abattu, pleurant, se tirant
les cheveux, apeuré. Après avoir récolté un nombre important de ces figures, Alexandre Perigot
propose au comédien et metteur en scène Yves-Noël Genod de les rejouer. « Comme dans un
hypothétique spectacle, une chorégraphie ahurie et inquiétante se met en place et invite le spectateur
à partager cinq minutes d’une chute d’actions. »
The work of Alexandre Perigot develops from a sharp observation of the relationship between the
forms of popular culture and those of art. Through various media (videos, installations, photographs,
music, dance, ...), his works demonstrate the sensationalism of our society and the emergence of new
models of representation that it emits for building an identity.
The video Krach Audition, produced by the artist for the exhibition at the art center of Quartier à
Quimper, stages the gestures of the Stock Exchange as a dramaturgy of modern times. Each
downward movement is illustrated in the media with an image of a trader, despondent, crying, pulling
his hair, frightened. After collecting a large number of these characters, Alexandre Perigot proposes
to actor and director Yves-Noël Genod to replay them. "Like in a hypothetical performance, a
bewildered and troubling choreography is formed and invites the viewer to share five minutes of falling
stocks.”

Abstraction manifeste
Cette exposition collective s’intéresse aux formes de l’abstraction dans un contexte contemporain lié à
la dématérialisation du capital et du lien social. La rapidité des flux d’information et la quantité des
données supposent de structurer nos échanges de manière de plus en plus élaborée. Notre rapport au
monde passe par des interfaces et des modélisations dont les formes : diagrammes, portails,
plateformes influencent le vocabulaire contemporain de l’abstraction géométrique. Ici, l’abstraction ne
s’oppose pas à la représentation, elle devient au contraire un marqueur de son contexte idéologique.
Les artistes réunis dans l’exposition développent des recherches formelles à partir de ces systèmes
existants, tout en les reliant aux contingences historiques et politiques. Ces artistes entretiennent une
relation paradoxale à l’objet d’art autonome, préférant inscrire leur démarche dans le temps et la
répétition.
Sculptures, peintures, dessins, assemblages, tissages, collages, mouvements… tout en assumant
leur physicalité, ces œuvres tendent à reconfigurer l’espace social, manifestant ainsi les limites d’une
abstraction idéale.
This group exhibition is concerned with the forms of abstraction in a contemporary context linked to
the dematerialisation of capital and of social ties. The speed of information flow and the sheer quantity
of data today imply that we need to structure our exchanges in a more and more elaborate way. Our
relationship with the world goes through interfaces and modelling whose different forms (diagrams,
portals, platforms, etc.) influence the contemporary vocabulary of geometric abstraction. Here, far from
being opposed to representation, abstraction becomes a marker of its ideological context.
The artists in the exhibition develop their formal research from existing systems while, at the same
time, connecting it to historical and political contingencies. These artists maintain a paradoxical
relationship with the autonomous art object in that their preferred approach relates to time and
repetition.
Sculptures, paintings, drawings, assemblages, weaves, collages and movements, though they are at
ease with their physicality, tend to reconfigure social space and show the limits of ideal abstraction.
