ACTIVITY FIELD:
Social and intercultural activities with children, youth, local and international community.
Start date : 1 volunteer from 12th October 2012 for 12 months
Accommodation : Shared flat
Board : Monthly budget for food
Hosting organization : Point Europa
General Information
The placements are in the small villages of Cawsand and Millbrook in SE Cornwall. The nearest city is Plymouth. The project is for people who like beautiful
countryside, quiet times, small communities, who are able to mix well and make their own entertainment. You can travel to Plymouth by several different
ways; these take around 30 and 60 minutes depending on the transport. Transport can be limited as Cawsand is on a beautiful peninsular. Cawsand is a
tourist destination and can be quiet in the winter and very busy in the summer months. The community are very used to have European volunteers and
will welcome volunteers into their lives.
Volunteer Accommodation
Volunteers live in an apartment, above Point Europa offices. The garden is next to the sea and there are beautiful views across the bay. The apartment
has a fully equipped kitchen a toilet and a bathroom. Volunteers will have a good size room of their own.

Description of local centres :
Charity Shop
Environmental Outdoor Education, Hostel and Group
Accommodation. Local Food Cafe and Catering.
Volunteers will initially assist with the refurbishment
of the kitchen and café area for the first 2 weeks.
Activities will include helping with painting and tidying.
When the refurbishment is complete, volunteers can help
with the running of the café. There will also be designing and
distributing of posters for publicity. Occasional office work,
reception, internet research sourcing local food produce.
Outdoor work developing the woodlands, special features.
The shop is run by Point Europa to raise
money for projects in the local community.
People
from
the
local
community
donate clothes, books, toys, household
items and bric-a-brac for the shop to sell.
EVS volunteers will assist local community
volunteers in running the shop. This will include
arranging items for display, rotating stock,
pricing items and serving customers using the till.
Fourlanesend County Primary School
Kingfisher Pre-School
Kingfisher is a Pre-School for children aged
2-4 years. They provide a welcoming,
child centred environment where children can develop to their full potential.
With a wide range of fun activities
accross all the Early Year Foundation Stage
(EYFS) areas of learning we encourage
children to be independent, motivated and
most importantly, happy and confident..
Volunteers will play with the children,
prepare their snacks
and engage
the children
in a variety of activities.
Volunteers work along side the teaching staff in the
classroom. Supporting the children, prepare class
work and engage the children in a variety of activities.
Point Europa
Volunteers will work along side Point Europa staff
working on various European and community
projects. Volunteers will have the opportunity
to be immersed in the office environment and
will carry out general office tasks including –
internet research, typing, making travel
arrangements, supporting publicity for community events and promotion of the EVS programme.
Church Coffee Morning
Coffee morning happens
every Tuesday in Cawsand
CongregationalChurch
(next to your accommodation at The Manse).
Volunteers will be selling tea
and coffee to the older residents from the community.
Millbrook After School Club is for
children aged 4-12 years. There
aim is to help children reach their
full potential by providing a stable,
secure and relaxed environment
where parents feel confident to
leave their children. They offer a
variety of activities, both indoors
and out, such as craft, games,
cooking, dance and roleplay.
Volunteers will play with the children,
prepare their snacks and engage
the children in a variety of activities.
