Easy to install in a half day. ATTIC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Tools Needed: Attic Preparation: 1 Position one person in attic and one at blowing machine to feed insulation. A long bladed knife Mask* Gloves and a long-sleeved shirt Safety goggles Other suggested tools: • Attic rulers • Staple gun or nails and hammer • Attic baffles/vents • Flashlight or droplight *NIOSH certified disposable or reusable particulate respirator with efficiency rating of N95 or higher. Attic Preparation: 1 Plan your installation path; take extreme caution when moving through your attic, walk only on joists. 2 Install attic rulers for R-Value guide using staple gun. Refer to attic ruler for proper placement. 3 Ensure proper lighting for safe installation. 4 Install attic baffles/vents if needed. Machine Preparation: 1 Choose outdoor or garage location to set up machine. 2 Put the hopper (top of the unit) onto base so that the wheels are on the same side as hopper opening. Secure all latches. 3 Plug supplied electrical cord into 15-amp outlet. 4 Test machine empty to ensure it’s operational before using. a. White “ready” light on control panel must be illuminated. b. Press green button on machine to start. Or, press green button on remote (located on hose). c. If machine does not start, check the following: • Extension cord is secure at both ends. • Circuit breaker in house. • Hopper is properly seated and is in the correct orientation. • Circuit breaker on machine is on. • GFCI on machine is not tripped. Reset if tripped. 5 Turn machine off after successful test start. 6 Join the two 50-foot hose sections together and attach to machine. 7 Run hose to the farthest point in the attic, with the remote end in the attic. Next, insert your knife in the knife slot and slit across the entire package from left to right. 5 While feeding the package into the machine, pull the bag out. DO NOT LET THE BAG FALL INTO THE MACHINE. DO NOT OVERLOAD/STUFF THE MACHINE, or it will shut off. 4. 6 Install product as a level blanket to the desired thickness using previously placed attic rulers as guide. a. Start at furthest point and work back to attic exit. b. Continue feeding packages until desired R-Value is obtained. c. Run machine until insulation empties from hopper and hose. d. Shut off machine using the red stop button on the control panel or by pressing the “off” button on the remote. 5. 6. Do not block eave vents with insulation. Install attic baffles/vents if they were not installed previously. Return equipment to rental centre empty and in same condition as rented. Also, please clean filter. Helpful Hints: 1 When blowing, make sure that all openings to the living space are blocked. Be especially careful that the hose is not dropped into the living area. 2 Make sure items stored in the attic are moved out of the way or removed. 3 Recessed lighting fixtures and fan motors protruding into the attic must not be covered with insulation. Blowing insulation should be kept 3 inches from the heat source. INSTRUCTIONS D’INSTALLATION POUR UN GRENIER Outils nécessaires : PRÉPARATION DU GRENIER : 1 Placez une personne dans le grenier et une autre à la souffleuse afin d’alimenter l’isolant. Un couteau à longue lame Autres outils suggérés : Un masque antipoussière* Des lunettes de sécurité Des gants et une chemise à manches longues *Respirateur particulaire jetable ou • Des règles de grenier • Une agrafeuse ou un marteau réutilisable certifié NIOSH avec un taux • Cloisons mitoyennes/ et des clous évents pour grenier • Une lampe de poche ou un plafonnier d’efficacité de N95 ou supérieur PRÉPARATION DU GRENIER : 1 Planifiez votre chemin d’installation ; faites extrêmement attention lorsque vous vous déplacez dans le grenier, marchez seulement sur les solives. 2 Installez les règles de grenier à l’aide d’une agrafeuse afin de vous guider pour obtenir la valeur-R désirée. Consultez les règles de grenier pour le placement approprié. 3 Assurez-vous d’un éclairage adéquat pour une installation sécuritaire. 4 Installez les cloisons mitoyennes /orifices d’aération si nécessaire. PRÉPARATION DE LA MACHINE : 1 Choisissez un emplacement à l’extérieur ou dans le garage pour installer la machine. 2 Mettez le distributeur (partie supérieure de l’unité) sur la base afin que les roues soient du même côté que l’ouverture du distributeur. Fixez tous les loquets. 3 Branchez le cordon électrique fourni dans une sortie de 15 AMP. 4 Testez la machine vide afin de vous assurer qu’elle est opérationnelle avant de l’utiliser. a. Le voyant blanc « Prêt » sur le tableau de commande doit être allumé. b. Appuyez sur le bouton vert pour démarrer la machine ou sur le bouton vert de la télécommande (située sur le boyau). c. Si la machine ne démarre pas, vérifiez : • Si la rallonge est bien fixée aux deux extrémités. • Le disjoncteur de la maison. • Assurez-vous que le distributeur est bien assis et se trouve dans la bonne direction. • Que le disjoncteur de la machine est en marche. • Que le disjoncteur de fuite à la terre n’est pas déclenché. Réinitialisez si déclenché. 5 Mettre la machine en marche après un test de démarrage réussi. 6 Joignez les deux sections de boyau de 50 pieds ensemble et attachez à la machine. 7 Faites passer le boyau au point le plus éloigné du grenier, avec l’extrémité de la télécommande dans le grenier. CONSEILS DE SÉCURITÉ : 1 Gardez vos mains et vos outils hors de la machine à tout moment. 2 Ne tentez pas de débloquer ou d’enlever tout corps étranger dans la ma- chine pendant qu’elle est en marche ou branchée à une sortie électrique. 3 Ne faites pas fonctionner la machine à l’intérieur - installez-la à l’extérieur ou dans le garage. De plus, veuillez nettoyer le filtre. MD CONSEILS UTILES : 1 Lors du soufflage, assurez-vous que toutes les ouvertures de la surface d’habitation sont bouchées. Portez une attention particulière au boyau pour ne pas l’échapper dans la surface d’habitation. 2 Veillez à ce que les articles entreposés dans le grenier soient déplacés ou enlevés. 3 Les appareils d’éclairage encastrés et les moteurs des ventilateurs qui dépassent dans le grenier ne doivent pas être couverts d’isolant. L’isolant en flocons devrait être gardé à 3 po de toute source de chaleur. Ceci ne s’applique pas aux installations de plafond isolées munies d’un pouvoir de coupure. 4 Pour vous dépanner, veuillez consulter les instructions de fonctionnement situées sur la machine. www.certainteed.com/fr/
