Transportation User’s Guide
Can’t stand traffic jams? Hesitant to come because you are not sure how to get here? Afraid you will end up
stuck until dawn? To help you with your planning, here are a number of practical tips on the various options
that will help reduce not just the traffic but also your level of stress… The most practical and ecological way
to come to Montreux during the Festival is to use public transportation.
TRAIN
At the Montreux Jazz Festival, SBB expands its offer by reinforcing regular trains and running special trains. A total
of 38 special trains will be available to visitors of the Montreux Jazz Festival. The Montreux train station is only a few
minutes’ walk from the Festival site.

Take the special trains! Because these will not be too crowded, you’ll travel more comfortably.

Buy the special ticket for the Montreux Jazz Festival for the outward and return journey. The train ticket is
valid up to 5am. on the day following the date printed on the ticket.

Seats at the very front of the train: In the long-distance trains there are usually seats available in the front
compartments.

Due to the concerts ending late, it is not always possible to reach all parts of the country and connections
via public transport. You can find information on the best connections on the online timetable prior
to the Festival.
BUS
Special bus lines between the Montreux region and various Swiss cities are available during the Festival.
There will be free shuttles to and from the Festival parkings provided by VMCV (Vevey-Montreux-Chillon-Villeneuve
public transportation system).

sold on the bus. Buses leave from the Montreux train station at 2:30am, VMCV bus stop.
Prices: one-way to Lausanne, Aigle or Monthey: CHF 20.one-way to Geneva, Morges, Nyon, Martigny or Sion: CHF 25.-
CARS
FREE PARKINGS LOTS
There will be free parking lots situated in the areas surrounding Montreux, with free shuttles to and from the Festival grounds provided by VMCV (Vevey-Montreux-Chillon-Villeneuve public transportation system).
Persons with reduced mobility may obtain a parking space near the Convention Centre. Access to this parking lot is
reserved for vehicles with official handicap tags, and is subject to availability.
Please note that:
- No parking is allowed outside of designated areas in the pink zone indicated on the map.
- Street parking is possible until 5:00am, but thereafter the roadway must be clear–any remaining vehicles will be
towed at their owner’s expense.
