The Rainier Club Wine List 4.1.15 3 WHITE WINES BY THE GLASS
CHAMPAGNE ǀ NICHOLAS FEUILLATTE BRUT RESERVE, CHOUILLY, FRA
In 1986, Nicholas Feuillatte created a partnership with the Centre Vinicole de la Champagne, the largest association of growers in Champagne,
situated in the heart of the vineyards, near the small Grand Cru village of Chouilly on the outskirts of Epernay. Nicholas Feuillatte Champagnes are
the exclusive issue of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. A blend of 20% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 40% Pinot Meunier, this Champagne offers a rich but elegant style suitable for any occasion or food accompaniment. SAUVIGNON BLANC ǀ 2012 HENRI BOURGEOIS “LES BARONNES,” SANCERRE, FRA
Henri Bourgeois is a family winery in the small village of Chavignol, just a few miles outside the town of Sancerre. Sancerre is world renowned for
its Sauvignon Blanc, this is a truly a classic example! On the nose citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon-lime. On the palate zesty acidity and minerality with a lightly rich finish from lees contact.
RIESLING ǀ 2012 LETH “FELSER WEINBERG,” WAGRAM, AUSTRIA
The Leth winery is one of the leading examples of expression of terroir in the Wagram. This family winery is located in the town of Fels, directly on
the terraces of the Wagram River. On the nose fresh Linden blossom, nectarine and petrol. On the palate juicy white peach and lime zest, with a
lightly rich finish from lees contact.
PINOT GRIS ǀ 2012 MASQUERADE, COLUMBIA VALLEY, WA
Molecular biologist turned winemaker, Bill Kimmerly and his wife Jennifer Kimmerly started Masquerade winery in 2000. Since then, together they
have launched an impressive array of varietals and styles of wine! This Pinot Gris is no different; rich, ripe and juicy, this Alsatian style will tantalize
your palate and take you to the vineyards of eastern Washington.
CHABLIS ǀ 2012 WILLIAM FEVRE, CHABLIS, FRA
Since 1959, Williams Fevre has made outstanding and classic Chablis. Made from 100% Chardonnay, this wine is a completely different animal
compared to the other Chardonnays on this list. Mouth watering acidity, fresh green apple and pear finishes clean with a mineral edge that dreams
of Chablis vineyards!
ITALIAN CHARDONNAY ǀ 2013 ETTORE GERMANO, PIEDMONT, ITALY
The Germano winery is located just north of the village of Serralunga on the south-east edge of the Barolo appellation. Sergio Germano is typical
of the new generation of producers while still respecting the traditions of his forebears; Sergio has the modern, scientific understanding of winemaking. On the nose green apple and toast. On the palate pear and meyer lemon, with a long juicy mineral driven finish.
FRENCH CHARDONNAY ǀ 2011 OLIVIER LEFLAIVE “LES SETILLES,” FRANCE
The name “Sétilles” comes from the cadastral name of the place of wineries in la Maison Olivier Leflaive. This wine is a blend of about 60 vineyards located in the village of Puligny and Meursault. On the nose lemon, lime and green apple. On the palate ripe fruit and slender profile showing high acidity and freshness.
4 The Rainier Club Wine List 4.1.15 RED WINES BY THE GLASS
PINOT NOIR ǀ 2013 TRISAETUM, WILLAMETTE VALLEY, OR
In 2003, Andrea and James Frey founded Trisaetum (tris-say-tum) in one of the few places where climate, soil, and entrepreneurial spirit combine
to produce some of the world’s best Pinot Noir. Plum, wild strawberry, and blackberry are carried by a back bone of acidity, and finished by supple
tannins. GARNACHA ǀ 2013 BODEGAS ATECA “HONORA VERA,” RUEDA, SP
Bodegas Ateca is a joint project between the Gil family winery and the well-known importer, Jorge Ordonez. On the nose a blast of ripe red currants, raspberry, and black cherry. Full bodied and rich with intense red berries and tart fruit character followed with a lush, inky finish. This wine
will not disappoint!!!
BARBARESCO ǀ 2011 PASQUALE PELISSERO, PIEDMONT, ITALY
Pasquale Pelissero is a tiny, family-owned winery started in a garage by “Papa” Pasquale, one of the first producers in the commune of Neive to
bottle and sell his own wines. This classic-style Barbaresco comes from the oldest vines on the estate, then the wine is aged for at least 24
months in large oak barrels and smaller barriques.
SYRAH BLEND ǀ 2012 CHATEAU PESQUIE “TERRASSES,” RHONE, FRA
A popular favorite of Robert Parker, this is a brilliant example of an elegant and fruit forward wine from Venotux. The talented brothers Alexandre &
Frederic Chaudiere took the outstanding growing conditions in 2012 and turned them into a fabulous Rhone style wine. With notes of rich black
cherry, black pepper, garrigue and a long savory finish, this is certainly a wine you don’t want to miss!
TEMPRANILLO ǀ 2011 POMUM, COLUMBIA VALLEY, WA
By Javier and Shylah Alfonso, who bring their winemaking skills from the famed Ribera Del Duero region of Spain! Rich and well balanced fruit,
with notes of dark chocolate, baking spice and tobacco with a long juicy finish!
RED BLEND ǀ 2012 BETZ “CUVEE FRANGIN,” COLUMBIA VALLEY, WA
Winemaker and Master of Wine, Bob Betz, has done it again with this new release. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah. Cuvee Frangin is the remaining blend of Betz’s famous wines Pere de Famille, La Serenne and La Cote Rousee! Supple, yet focused, Cuvee
Frangin brings together the structure of Bordeaux with the suppleness of Rhone.
MALBEC BLEND ǀ 2010 HAND OF GOD “FINGERPRINT SERIES,” MENDOZA, ARG
Seattle native Jon Staenburg and Argentina legend winemaker Santiago Achaval bring you a rare glimpse into the future of Argentinian winemaking. This blend of 55% Malbec, 35% Syrah and 10% Petit Verdot boasts great power, multi-layered complexity and length.
BORDEAUX ǀ 2010 CHATEAU BARREYRE “BORDEAUX SUPERIEUR,” MEDOC, FRA
Château Barreyre is evidence of just how fine many of Bordeaux’s smaller, lesser known estates, called petits châteaux, can be. The historical
estate, which weathered the French revolution, still remains with the Barreyre family. The property still has the authentic 18th century château,
which was constructed in 1774 by Nicolas Barreyre. The cultivation of the vine on the property dates back even further. A blend of 50% Merlot,
40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot, this wine offers deep black currant aromas, plush tannins and a long spicey finish.

Welcome to the famed Côte d’Or, or “slopes of gold” as it is called because of the golden leaves that grace the vines throughout the
valley of the Saone River during harvest. These venerable hills have been cultivated for centuries; planted by Roman soldiers and
tended to by Catholic Monks. The Côte d’Or is divided into two distinct districts: The Côte de Nuits to the north and the Côte de
Beaune to the south.

24 The Rainier Club Wine List 4.1.15 RHÔNE
The Rhône region of France is divided into North and South by both land boundaries and appellation control laws. The northern
Rhône is famous for their singular expression of Syrah, Viognier and Marsanne. In contrast, the Southern Rhône is renowned for
their blending skills of primarily Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan as well as Viognier, Marsanne and Rousanne. These
varieties represent the core of some 40+ grape types grown.

26 The Rainier Club Wine List 4.1.15 BORDEAUX
In preparation for the 1855 World’s Exposition in Paris, Napoléon III requested a classification of the “greatest châteaux” in Bordeaux.
The Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce acted on this request and rated wineries situated in the Médoc. This rating was based upon
price, quality, and reputation in what is now known as the Grand Cru Classé. This ranking has (for better or worse) stood the test of
time with only one change, the elevation to First Growth of Château Mouton Rothschhild in 1973.

CHÂTEAU CHEVAL-BLANC ǀ SAINT-ÉMILION
A beautiful nose, very perfumed, aromatic coffee grounds and gently roasted meats.
Lovely style. Fine texture on entry, proceeding to a full yet smoothly integrated midpalate, although there is still a little display of fatness and tannin.
2001
360
CHÂTEAU MARGAUX ǀ MARGAUX
Smoky and yet perfumed aromas, certainly rather gravelly. Very classic, and showing
well considered its age. Cassis fruit and just a little tobacco. Very cool entry, with a
firm structure and an elegant texture through the mid-palate. Nicely composed indeed,
quite harmonious, with a lot of structure showing and a very persistent finish.
2002

CHÂTEAU MOUTON-ROTHSCHILD ǀ PAUILLAC
A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit
Verdot, the wine exhibits a dense ruby-purple color, and an open-knit nose of cedar
wood, blackberry liqueur, cassis, and coffee. It is an impressive effort for this vintage.
1997
318
CHÂTEAU MOUTON-ROTHSCHILD ǀ PAUILLAC
A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc (57% of the
production was utilized), it is an extremely powerful, super-concentrated wine offering
notes of roasted espresso, crème de cassis, smoke, new saddle leather, graphite, and
licorice. Massive with awesome concentration, mouth-searing tannin levels, and a saturated flavor profile that grips with considerable intensity. This is a 50-year Mouton, but
patience is required for it will not be close to drink-ability for at least a decade. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2050.
1998
319
CHÂTEAU MOUTON-ROTHSCHILD ǀ PAUILLAC
The beautiful 1999 Mouton Rothschild may be a modern day clone of their 1962 or
1985. Its saturated ruby/purple color is followed by sumptuous aromas of cedar wood,
crème de cassis, wood smoke, coffee, and dried herbs. The wine is forward, lush, and
full-bodied. It is already complex as well as succulent, fleshy, and long. It is a complex,
classic Mouton. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2030.
1999
320
CHÂTEAU LÂFITE-ROTHSCHILD ǀ PAUILLAC
A brilliant offering and a candidate for wine of the vintage, this is a classic Lâfite. This
is a medium-weight, quintessentially elegant style wine with notes of graphite along
with black currants, plums, and crushed rocks or mineral. Wonderfully pure and dense,
with a deep ruby/purple color and loads of fruit, definition, and a long finish. This is a
brilliant, elegant Lâfite that builds incrementally in the mouth and has more power and
density than it initially seems. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025.
