TERMES ET CONDITIONS D’ADOPTION / ADOPTION TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Je m’engage à traiter mon chien comme un membre de
la famille à part entière.
2. Je m’engage à ne jamais harceler, provoquer, blesser,
faire souffrir physiquement ou mentalement mon
chien.
3. Je m’engage à empêcher que toute forme de cruauté
soit infligée à mon chien.
4. Je m’engage à le nourrir en quantité et qualité
suffisantes pour subvenir à ses besoins.
5. Je m’engage à ne pas faire porter à mon chien un
collier à pics ou tout collier qui pourrait gêner sa
respiration et lui occasionner de la douleur ou des
blessures.
6. Je m’engage à ne jamais laisser mon chien en liberté et
sans surveillance à l’extérieur.
7. Je m’engage à ne jamais laisser mon chien enchaîné en
permanence à l’extérieur.
8. Je m’engage à loger mon chien confortablement à
l’intérieur. S’il est attaché à l’extérieur, ce sera
seulement pour de courtes périodes et le chien aura
accès à un abri contre les intempéries.
9. Je m’engage à prendre les mesures nécessaires pour
assurer la bonne santé de mon chien, à lui fournir les
soins appropriés (vaccins) pour prévenir les maladies
et, lorsqu’il est malade, à lui assurer les soins
vétérinaires requis.
10. Si mon chien est gravement blessé ou devient
gravement malade (maladie incurable), je m’engage à
abréger ses souffrances par une euthanasie pratiquée
par un Vétérinaire, selon les méthodes prescrites par
l’Ordre des médecins Vétérinaires du Québec.

Dans le cas d’une euthanasie en raison d’une maladie,
je communiquerai avec la Fondation Caramel au
préalable pour obtenir une autorisation.
Dans le cas d’une euthanasie en urgence à la suite
d’un accident, je transmettrai à la Fondation Caramel
une preuve du Vétérinaire.
1. I pledge to treat my dog as a full member of the family.
2. I pledge never to harass, provoke, injure or cause physical
or mental pain to my dog.
3. I pledge to prevent any form of cruelty from being inflicted
on my dog.
4. I pledge to feed my dog in quantity and quality sufficient to
meet his needs.
5. I pledge that I will not make my dog wear a collar with
spikes or any collar that could impede his breathing and
cause him pain or injury.
6. I pledge that I will never let my dog unattended or without
supervision outside my home.
7. I pledge never to leave my dog chained permanently
outside.
8. I pledge to provide my dog with comfortable indoor
lodgings. If my dog is tied outside, it is only for short
periods of time and I will provide my dog with suitable
shelter against bad weather.
9. I pledge to take all necessary measures to ensure my dog’s
good health, to supply my dog with the proper care to
avoid diseases (vaccinations) and should my dog become
sick, to provide him with the required veterinary care.
10. If my dog is seriously injured or becomes seriously ill
(incurable disease), I pledge to shorten his suffering by
getting a licenced Veterinarian to practice euthanasia, as
per the prescribed methods of the Quebec Order of
Veterinarians.

In the case of euthanasia due to serious illness, I will contact
Fondation Caramel to obtain prior authorization.
In the case of an emergency euthanasia following an
accident, I will forward Veterinarian proof to Fondation
Caramel.

Vous adoptez un chien de refuge. Sachez que la Fondation

Caramel respecte les règles de quarantaine dans ses locaux
et que votre nouveau chien a reçu ses vaccins de base et
contre la rage.
Si vous avez un ou des chiens à la maison, assurez-vous que
leurs vaccins soient à jour avant de les mettre en contact
avec le nouveau chien, afin d’éviter tout risque de
transmission de maladies. Sinon, veuillez contacter votre
vétérinaire.
Pour les mêmes motifs, nous suggérons d’attendre quatorze
(14) jours avant d’emmener votre nouveau chien dans un
parc à chien.
Si vous possédez déjà un ou des chiens, il(s) doit/doivent
être stérilisé(s). La Fondation Caramel exigera une
confirmation de votre vétérinaire.
Si le chien présente des problèmes de santé dans les quinze
(15) jours suivant son adoption, veuillez communiquer avec
la Fondation Caramel. Si le problème de santé est grave et
s’avère incurable, vous pourrez retourner le chien à la
Fondation et en adopter un autre sans frais dans les quatrevingt-dix (90) jours qui suivent.
Comme propriétaire/gardien adoptif de votre chien, vous
acceptez de prendre l’entière responsabilité de son bienêtre et de ses soins pour la durée de sa vie. Une fois
l’adoption effectuée – et à l’exception des quinze (15)
premiers jours –, vous êtes entièrement responsable des
frais associés à tous les soins de votre chien, incluant les
frais pour soins médicaux.
Caramel has followed all rules related to quarantine at the
shelter. Your new dog has received the basic vaccination
as well as his vaccine against rabies.
If you have another or other dogs at home, you must
ensure that their vaccines are up to date before
introducing the new dog, to avoid any risk of diseases
being transmitted. If not, please contact your Veterinary.
We also suggest that you wait at least fourteen (14) days
before bringing your new dog to a dog park, for the same
reasons.
If you have another or other dogs at home, they must be
sterilized. The Fondation Caramel will require confirmation
from your Veterinary.
If the dog presents health problems in the fifteen (15) days
following his adoption, please contact Fondation Caramel.
If the health issue is serious and incurable, you may return
the dog to Fondation Caramel and adopt another within
ninety (90) days without charge.
As the adoptive owner/guardian of your dog, you agree to
take full responsibility for his well-being and care for the
duration of his life. Once the adoption is completed – and
with the exception of the first fifteen (15) days – you are
entirely responsible for all costs associated with the care
of your dog, including the costs of medical care.
RETOURS / RETURNS
Si, pour quelque raison que ce soit, vous ne désirez plus
garder le chien adopté ou n’êtes plus en mesure de vous en
occuper, vous vous engagez à ne pas l’abandonner ou à le
revendre, mais plutôt à le retourner à la Fondation Caramel
en vous rendant directement au refuge ou en
communiquant avec Louise Meunier par téléphone ou par
courriel.
Il est interdit d’euthanasier le chien pour des raisons
d’agressivité ou autres problèmes de comportements.
Possibilité de poursuite légale d’un minimum de

000,00$
Si le chien démontre des signes d’agressivité ou autres
comportements indésirables incluant mais pas limité à
protection de nourriture, destruction de meubles ou effets
personnels, jappements, etc., vous vous engagez à le
retourner à la Fondation Caramel qui a la compétence pour
faire évaluer les comportements canins.
• J’ai pris connaissance de cette clause et j’y appose mes
initiales en guise de consentement. De plus, je
comprends que je pourrais être passible de poursuite en
cas de non-respect de cette clause. ______
S’il vous est possible d’identifier une autre famille adoptive
pour votre chien, veuillez en aviser la Fondation Caramel. La
nouvelle famille devra remplir une demande d’adoption et,
si elle est retenue, verra le dossier d’adoption lui être
transféré sans frais. La nouvelle famille devra également
signer le contrat d’adoption et s’engager à respecter les
termes et conditions énoncés plus haut. Cette clause est

please notify Fondation Caramel. The new family will need
to fill in an Adoption Application, and if approved, the
adoption will be transferred without charge. The new
adoptive family will also be required to sign the Adoption
Contract and to adhere to the terms and conditions set
forth above. This clause does not apply to cases where the

MAUVAIS TRAITEMENTS / ILL-TREATMENT
Si la Fondation Caramel reçoit une plainte ou a de sérieuses
raisons de croire que le chien est maltraité, elle prendra
toutes les mesures nécessaires pour remédier à la situation
et pourra effectuer une visite à votre domicile pour évaluer
l’état du chien et/ou le récupérer, tel que prévu à la Loi sur
la sécurité et le bien-être de l’animal B-3.1.
If Fondation Caramel receives a complaint or has serious
reasons to believe that the dog is being mistreated, it will
take all necessary measures to remedy the situation,
including visiting your home to assess the dog’s condition
and/or seize the dog, as provided in the law related to the
safety and well-being of animals B-3.1.
