estimate completed, which he will provide to the court in coming weeks.
It was also uncovered, as reported in
the Bulletin, that Ms Lacasse had failed to
obtain proper permits prior to carrying
out renovations at 61, rue Principale this
summer. The unauthorized work took
place following the closure of the former
Bostaurus restaurant. A new restaurant
has since settled in the historical
premises in the heritage quarter.
It’s unclear what the Aylmer councillor
will announce during her special press
conference, but it has been suggested that
she could resign. The Mayor of Gatineau,
Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin, is expected to
speak to the press following Ms Lacasse’s
press conference.
Lacasse, a rookie politician, was elected
in 2013 after defeating Ward 1 incumbent
Stefan Psenak.

15-year Khewa anniversary
Showing a natural ability
in art and graphic design and
a storyteller’s ease of expression, she discovered she was,
as she puts it, “good at presenting”. That saw expression in
her creation of “The Harvest Festival”, a celebration of the
harvest culture from the perspective of Aboriginal ways.
Running from 2002 to 2010, it featured a panorama of
offerings from Elder talks and teachings, rites of passage,
sweat lodges, sunrise ceremonies, and native food fare like
bannock-on-a-stick.
Giving to the community and receiving back is natural
to her as she acknowledges with a sense of genuine
wonderment “this vital energy of the river that we feel
converging with our lives here in Wakefield.”
Even as she continues to run her Native Art Boutique
with the thankful support “of my team, Isabelle Maranda,
Diane Doyon and Nancy Duquette”, who, like her, are all

moms, she continues to be the consummate artist.
Working in mixed medium, such as acrylic, watercolour, illustration and leather work, she spontaneously
creates a steady body of work, inspired by “the moment”

Her art work is exhibited at Soutana Gallery in Mont
Tremblant and La Fabrique in Chelsea, as well as at
Khewa. Working with a network of other native artists,
she is available to create commissioned art work and

Terry Fox run:
all of Aylmer is invited

Gatineau's 15th annual Terry Fox Run will be held at the
Marina on September 18. It began nation-wide in 1980, so this
year's run will be the 36th. Aylmer’s started fifteen years ago.
The start time is 10 am, with registration from 9 to 10 am.
Participants can walk, run, cycle, wheelchair, rollerblade and/or
skateboard. On site there are face-painters and bouncy castles as
well as a barbecue. There will be a BBQ fundraiser the previous
day at Super C. Students from Grande-Rivière's International
program will also be bagging groceries and canvassing to raise
money and awareness for cancer research. There is a silent
auction that has the support of over one hundred Aylmer and
region merchants, sports organizations and the arts. The
auction will feature such things as a driving course, overnight
stay for two with breakfast at a nearby hotel, local restaurants,
summer day camps, registrations for sports associations and
even a bungee jump. Last year's event attracted over 30 sports
and other teams and organizers expect at least as many this year.
Last year's silent auction alone brought in $4,000 and a little
more than $20,000 was raised in Aylmer.
